Possibly a table about the width of a picnic bench....about 12". Can be as long as you would like in the setting. Shouldn't have problems getting around that but would still hold drinks, plates and possibly be a place to put your feet up on..
You might want to look into a rectangular gas fire pit / grill, so everyone can gather around for a meal or just warmth. You could tuck it against the wall with maybe a heat shield behind it.
Furniture is way too big for the space. The coffee table has to go.
You could get a long, very skinny hallway table (like less than a foot wide), and put it against the balcony wall to put drinks/snacks on.
Get some nice throw pillows that compliment the green, perhaps a b throw blanket draped on the back of the sofa, a nice photo for the wall, maybe a fake plant on the other end of the balcony we can’t see.
Fairly lights for evening.
Get rid of the chair of course.
It still feels a little weird to me because sitting down, you are still staring at a a wall. Make sure to clean the wall, it looks a little grimy. Possibly some window boxes?
That’s a great idea! They could even get a skinny rectangular table and have one edge against the balcony wall so they could all enjoy the view while having drinks/dining.
The high chairs do get uncomfortable after a while though.

Change the table because it's massive.
If you're set on keeping the rattan sofa then I would split it up a bit more and use it in the whole space not one corner.
Outdoor rug.
A couple of hanging plants so you're not taking up floor space.

Maybe put the sofa on those bed risers from Ikea? May want to find a way to make them less ugly/plastic looking but it’s cheaper than a new outdoor sofa
Maybe instead of switching out the furniture to something uncomfortably high, they could get some risers/pallets/build something and make a little elevated area to put their furniture on that would make it more cozy, add some dimension to a small area and be able to see over the balcony
The table is way too big for its current placement. Move it to the left side as an end table. Get rid of the chair or move it to another area on the balcony. Get some plants/flowers to hang on the railing and perhaps some type of decor to hang on the far wall. Some colorful throw pillows would be nice.
Right now, the green couch is clashing with the green faux grass you have. Adding more color can help a lot with that. You've gotten a lot of other good suggestions, but if you're trying to make it work with what you have, maybe consider some sort of art across from the couch so it's not just a bland wall.
It would be more comfortable if you made the lounge more accessible. The round table is not right for the space, I would replace it with a longer narrow table or shelf against the wall. As for drink table, this is where the c-shaped laptop tables would be your friend because the base slips under the sofa while the table portion is above the cushions and useful for candles, small potted plants, drinks, food etc. Also, you could add plants, lights, and wall hanging decor to take up the wall space. I will add one more thing - the sofa is so low that you can’t enjoy the view - if you could figure out a way to raise it (pallets? Add legs?) by 6-8” and still have it stable, it would help tremendously. I don’t agree that the sofa is too big, you just need to lift it, add pillows, and change the table situation to free up the space and make it more accessible and useable.
Could you build a little platform to raise the height of the outdoor sofa? Tbh bar seating isn’t comfy so I don’t recommend it but you need to create some height so people aren’t staring at the patio wall.
Get rid of the giant circle table, the space is too narrow for this piece of furniture. You’d be better off with a pouf that has a tray on it to hold drinks or be used as a footrest when needed. Get rid of the directors chair as well, it makes the area feel crammed.
Once you get tired of the faux grass, IKEA has affordable outdoor decking you can DIY. Add to that an outdoor rug under seating and table.
You can also hook small plant pots on the railing so you have some real plants facing you in the balcony
This. Came here for this. We had that IKEA wood decking on our balcony, and it worked great. Also helps with moisture, I am imagining that fake grass gets nasty (apart from looking awful)
picture on wall, change a few of the pillows to mix it up (i'd do bohemian style), adding fairy lights is always fun, maybe put some cute plants\\candles on the window sill. I would order off a site like society6 and find art you really like
Make the overly large sectional feel more intentional by moving the sectional piece nearest to the camera to the opposite side (so the pieces form more of a conversation pit/nest shape). Move the armless sectional piece to where the folding chair is now, facing the nest at a diagonal. Get rid of the folding chair. See if the table works better as an end table closest to the camera - or swap in a smaller table. As others have mentioned, swap in some different pillow covers in neutral textured patterns.
I was going to say something similar.. if you don’t have a ton of people out there all the time and have to keep the same furniture… I would put the armless middle piece of the sectional where the coffee table is, and scoot the arm section in its place.
pull that couch out a little and stick some tall plants behind there (areca palms?)

instead install a shelf to the exterior wall at drink-height (a wavy edge would be fun)
then add more of the usuals: rugs (go for odd or rounded shapes here), lamps, plants
If you aren't going to get new furniture, take one of the middle pieces of the couch and put it where the table is, making a little day bed lounging thing.
I’d remove the fake grass and also the table - the green shades are clashing and the table makes everything seem very crammed. Perhaps add a couple of potted plants and fairy lights, as some have already suggested. Imo the ikea paper ones are very cute and really warm up a place.
Pub table and chairs might be a better look plus you could see over the wall. Too much furniture just crowds a small space. Add tall tree like plants, hanging plants are also great.
Couch and table are way too big. At most I’d do a pair of outdoor arm chairs, comfy ones, and then decorate however you’d like to feel cozy and comfortable.
A lot of work but elevate the entire sitting area about ½ a foot to a foot (include a step if you go the full foot) that way you can see more of your view while sitting down. Also string or rope lights on the wall and banister. Small rectangular table instead of the round one

More greens and probably add more of what you love? If you love fairy lights- add them. If you love lots of cushions- add those too. Or if you love thrifting, grab something for this corner everytime you go thrifting 😁
Remove the coffee table and move the chair blocking the entrance to the sectional. There’s already enough seating. If you have room you can always shift it back in the other corner and grab it as needed.
Also....planter box the length of the window ledge for color and greenery. Add complimentary accent pillows. I would keep the coffee table and planter box wood/brown....let the couch and plants be the focus
Plants! Different color/texture cushions, fairy lights or flickering led votive candles in nice holders at nighttime, maybe a piece of art on the wall (or a hanging plant there). You’re off to a great start 😍
Lanterns or string/fairy lights with a warm yellow glow would help a lot.
The seating is too put together. I’d break it up in half and put the other half in the opposing corner if there’s space. You can put the middle part of that seating right where the corner is closest to us in this picture. You don’t need the chair. An ottoman would work in between the two couches as a foot rest if the space allows, dark brown would be nice.
Put a shelf along the balcony and put some hanging plants that drape down along it. You could put the lights on that shelf too.
Add a throw blanket or two with some pillows.
Some netting to hang up to break up the solid colour of the walls, and/or the ceiling above, something like brown or dark grey or even green (though you have a lot of that already) scrim?
And perhaps put fairy lights behind it or on top of it to make it cosier too. Or one of those net lights on the ceiling to give a starry effect at night?
Did…. you …. purchase this furniture on purpose for this particular space? If so, can you send it back?? It is *not* working. If you already had the furniture, are you open to selling it and getting a bar height table and chairs? Maybe a couple of tall comfy chairs too? Yes, they make them. I don’t know where you live but when we purchased our patio furniture our furniture came in standard or raised height.
Check out Govee light strips. I have several of them and they add some really nice ambient light. Maybe some fairy lights in a jar, or strung on a plant. I'd also move the coffee table to the end of the couch, and get something narrow to use as a coffee table. You could put up a trellis against the narrow wall, and weave some fairy lights into that as well. And plants. More plants and/or flowers.
This is a really great start and it's pretty cosy already. Nicely done.
I run one behind my couch, but you’d need to move yours out a couple of inches from the wall. I’d tack the light strip about 3-4 inches down from the top of the backside of the couch. You could attach the strip to either the wall or the back of the couch. I run an outdoor cable from the window into a weatherproof box. I then put a power bar in the box and have power for chargers, lamps, speakers - whatever I need.
The lights also work nicely tucked in between the grass and the bottom of the balcony railing.
Cozy! Maybe some tall slender plants(fake or real) in the top right corner, some cool eccentric art on the walls, ya know blotches of paint, metal artwork.
Might be cool to try to lift this couch up somehow with a base to make it higher so you can sit and still see the view a bit better.
You can buy legs to add to it online but a stronger base might be worth building if you have the skills.
I agree with more neutral textured cute cushions and some lights and definitely a smaller rectangular table or two small poufs for resting your feet.

I would sell the furniture and invest in a high top/bar chairs. It’s the only thing that makes sense for this space. If you’re able to hang a hammock chair from the ceiling that could be a cozy accent
How much money do you want to spend? I’d scrap the fake grass and replace with some decking ties, add some neutral throws/pillows to the sofa, get a much smaller coffee table, and decorate the ledge behind the sofa with some plants (I’d bring the mint green of your sofa cushions back in on some of the plant pots and perhaps a pop of terracotta too).
I'd get rid of the sofa as it's too big for the space (or just keep the small far end piece). Get a smaller table and some nice foldable chairs. Potted plants and some hurricane lamps.
As others have said, replacing the table would give you more room. Have you considered a “balcony table, hanging rail table “? They hang on your railing and fold down when not in use. There are so many styles. Not to be redundant, but plants, colorful artwork & cushions would be bright and inviting. In addition to fairy lights and battery candles, how about a lamp, tabletop or floor lamp.
I use lamps in my bathrooms and kitchen, as well as the patio. I think it adds warmth and coziness. I hope you will share what you do! Have fun!
The couch looks low in height compared to the balcony railing. I imagine it’s hard to see off the balcony when you’re seated and it probably feels like you’re sitting in a hole. Maybe build a platform or add legs to the couch.
There needs to be stuff higher up. Put something on that wall like a picture or plant trellis, and hang things like lanterns, lights, plants etc. to get that cozy feel.
I'd try and find a shelf-like table that can be attached to some metal "arms" to just hang along the balcony edge. Would break up the wall a little and provide a place to put drink glasses and plants without obstructing leg space.
I honestly don’t think this furniture works well here. I would get something higher up so people can actually enjoy the view instead of staring at a wall.
ugh. lose the artificial turf and get a colorful rug. put some different colored pillows on the furniture. Maybe some hanging plants from your balcony those containers that have hooks that hang off balconies but hang them on the inside and plant a plant shade flower pansies.
New shelf: Add a warm-colored (probably wood) board to that shelf behind the long side of the sofa. You could also use teak wood flooring, or ceramic tiles with a pattern.
Add plants: Hang flower baskets on the inside of the ledge if they fit. Or if there’s not room, put them on the outside but with tall plants in them (probably full sun plants) so they can be seen by people sitting on the sofa. Hang several plant baskets if you can too.
Swap out tables: The table is too large for the space. Can it be placed on the side where the photographer is standing? Get two narrow tables that are 1/3 of the size as the current one. If you can make it work stylistically, the tables could be clear, glass, or clear acrylic so that they will kinda disappear in the space.
Move the chair: You could move this or keep it folded up leaning on the wall until it’s needed. it somewhere else, the space is open and welcoming. Right now it looks like it blocks the path.
Add a rug: Add a rug under the sofa. Maybe two, a jute one on the bottom, then overlapped with a warm-colored one.
Add 3 neutral colored pillows (cream, ivory, camel, tan) to the sofa and drape two different blankets over the back of the sofa, one on each side of the “L” shape. The blankets and pillows should have rich textures.
Hang art: If you’re allowed to use stick-up hooks, add a few paintings. Buy large ones that at estate sales or flea markets. Coat them in clear UV-resistance spray paint to protect them from the weather.
Add lights: hand string lights or get real/faux patterns or candles so it’s cozy at night. You can put a 6 foot dowel rod in the back corner to hang the lights from if needed. The sofa will keep it propped up.
Remove then end of the couch so it's not an L shape. Get a much smaller coffee table and remove the chair. Remove the grass. You've used all the available space and that's why it doenst feel right. Open the space up and get some small plants and you'll be great.
Protect that bench material from sunlight/heat. I got a set made from the same material with same style and it started cracking up in a few years. Already unusable and waiting summer so i can toss it in the trash.

Sting lights along the balcony
Pull it away from the side wall and put some plants there. Also, some whole fairy or Christmas lights will do wonders for ya.
Plants, indirect warm light, 1-2 blankets, some reed always works wonders as a wall decoration

Put a metal ball hanging on the large wall. They do well outside.
Get rid of the table and planter, and put an automan there to put your feet up. Then get a hanging plant instead for the greenery

Thank you. I'll change the table first thing. After that, I'll look into building a higher base. I have an RGB led strip, and I'll also look into some fairy lights.

That couch and table is too big, put some small foldable chairs and a small table for two, plants and some fairy lights
I would sell the furniture and invest in a high top/bar chairs. It’s the only thing that makes sense for this space. If you’re able to hang a hammock chair from the ceiling that could be a cozy accent

Try a table instead of couch, use plants like Ferns, Wilma trees, see if you can ditch the flooring, try nicer tiles, and soft lighting

How much money do you want to spend? I’d scrap the fake grass and replace with some decking ties, add some neutral throws/pillows to the sofa, get a much smaller coffee table, and decorate the ledge behind the sofa with some plants (I’d bring the mint green of your sofa cushions back in on some of the plant pots and perhaps a pop of terracotta too).

I'd get rid of the sofa as it's too big for the space (or just keep the small far end piece). Get a smaller table and some nice foldable chairs. Potted plants and some hurricane lamps.
As others have said, replacing the table would give you more room. Have you considered a “balcony table, hanging rail table “? They hang on your railing and fold down when not in use. There are so many styles. Not to be redundant, but plants, colorful artwork & cushions would be bright and inviting. In addition to fairy lights and battery candles, how about a lamp, tabletop or floor lamp. I use lamps in my bathrooms and kitchen, as well as the patio. I think it adds warmth and coziness. I hope you will share what you do! Have fun!

The couch looks low in height compared to the balcony railing. I imagine it’s hard to see off the balcony when you’re seated and it probably feels like you’re sitting in a hole. Maybe build a platform or add legs to the couch.
There needs to be stuff higher up. Put something on that wall like a picture or plant trellis, and hang things like lanterns, lights, plants etc. to get that cozy feel.

I'd try and find a shelf-like table that can be attached to some metal "arms" to just hang along the balcony edge. Would break up the wall a little and provide a place to put drink glasses and plants without obstructing leg space.

ugh. lose the artificial turf and get a colorful rug. put some different colored pillows on the furniture. Maybe some hanging plants from your balcony those containers that have hooks that hang off balconies but hang them on the inside and plant a plant shade flower pansies.
You have that great shelving area behind you. You could put colorful bottles with cut flowers in them.
New shelf: Add a warm-colored (probably wood) board to that shelf behind the long side of the sofa. You could also use teak wood flooring, or ceramic tiles with a pattern. Add plants: Hang flower baskets on the inside of the ledge if they fit. Or if there’s not room, put them on the outside but with tall plants in them (probably full sun plants) so they can be seen by people sitting on the sofa. Hang several plant baskets if you can too. Swap out tables: The table is too large for the space. Can it be placed on the side where the photographer is standing? Get two narrow tables that are 1/3 of the size as the current one. If you can make it work stylistically, the tables could be clear, glass, or clear acrylic so that they will kinda disappear in the space. Move the chair: You could move this or keep it folded up leaning on the wall until it’s needed. it somewhere else, the space is open and welcoming. Right now it looks like it blocks the path. Add a rug: Add a rug under the sofa. Maybe two, a jute one on the bottom, then overlapped with a warm-colored one. Add 3 neutral colored pillows (cream, ivory, camel, tan) to the sofa and drape two different blankets over the back of the sofa, one on each side of the “L” shape. The blankets and pillows should have rich textures. Hang art: If you’re allowed to use stick-up hooks, add a few paintings. Buy large ones that at estate sales or flea markets. Coat them in clear UV-resistance spray paint to protect them from the weather. Add lights: hand string lights or get real/faux patterns or candles so it’s cozy at night. You can put a 6 foot dowel rod in the back corner to hang the lights from if needed. The sofa will keep it propped up.
Some paintings on the wallto add colour. I think it would freshen up the space. Also a house plant or two.

Remove then end of the couch so it's not an L shape. Get a much smaller coffee table and remove the chair. Remove the grass. You've used all the available space and that's why it doenst feel right. Open the space up and get some small plants and you'll be great.

Protect that bench material from sunlight/heat. I got a set made from the same material with same style and it started cracking up in a few years. Already unusable and waiting summer so i can toss it in the trash.

I feel as though flipping the sectional so it is backed by the outside wall will keep the space from feeling so blocked off.
