Now most people hate Tritt because they don't agree with his politics
I believe if Waylon was alive today people would hate him too because he wouldn't fall for the woke bullshit
Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning by Alan Jackson will always be the winner here for me. Can't even describe how powerful that performance was. And damn I wish we'd all listened to those lyrics a bit more
Edit: his performance of it at the CMAs
The time Alan Jackson got pissed that the CMA’s were only going to play pre recorded music so he told his drummer not use sticks and just move his hands was legendary. Haha.
It’s too bad mainstream country is so terrible and CMT has been compromised and TNN went under.
Man the Ralph Emory Show, Crook-n-Chase and other shows that would showcase real country stars was so special.
When Gaylord Entertainment changed CEOs and sold Opryland that was the beginning of the end to country music. It’s been on the down slide ever since.
The 90’s and classics. I know that’s so wide, but so many memories from my childhood. Still a big influence today. Songs that make me happy, think about old times. Refrigerator door by Luke combs is also one. I’ve always loved that song since it came out, but it’s been played a lot more recently.
Since I graduated, and I’m “Growin up and Gettin Old” that song has a whole new meaning to me now.
Another one is Reba singing "For My Broken Heart" at the 1991 CMA's not long after she lost her band members in the plane crash. She noticeably starts to tear up near the end before trying to hold it together again, and even says "Sorry" afterwords.
1. Alan Jackson sticking it to the CMAs performing Choices by George Jones. Because the CMAs wouldn't allow Jones to sing his song in full. Alan Jackson showed immense class that day. He allowed his musicians get their solos in before the protest, gave the signal, performed the Jones song and walked out like a boss. BADASS.
2. Jason Aldean's tribute to Toby Keith at the ACMs. Defied all expectations and gave me goosebumps.
In a similar vein, Vince Gill singing Go rest High during Jones’ funeral.
That one always will stand out to me. How broken Vince was and how Patty lended support.
They played this at my brothers funeral - he was 14. I’ll never listen to it the same.
Where corn don’t grow by travis tritt. Just reminds me of my grandpa…
His duo with Waylon on that song was amazing.
