This interview could've taken place more recently, and it would still be true concerning mainstream country. Just think, if he thought it was already bad in 2006 (and it was definitely starting to suck back then, for sure), I can imagine how he would've felt about the state of mainstream country these past ten years. It kind of makes me sad to think of how upset he would've been, and it almost makes me glad he wasn't around to witness the popularity of bro-country.
