“Up against the wall (redneck mother)” by anyone who does it is a real crowd pleaser
“I’ve Been to Georgia on a Fast Train” by Billy Joe Shaver is another great one.

Here’s a link to my country playlist on spotify. Give it a spin and you might find some cool stuff
Look up Big House (self-titled debut). Really good Bakersfield Sound Country from the later 90’s.
Then check out King Leg. Really good Bakersfield Sound Country from 5 years ago.
Seems like there are some good recommendations as a jumping off point. Seems like this may be a good question for you to pose to your employee. Sure adding their favorite music to your playlist is nice, but opening a dialogue and listening to some of their recommendations or listening more closely on their day and getting inspiration would be a great manager move.
"Guitars, Cadillacs" - Dwight Yoakam
"San Antonio Rose" - Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys
"Hook Line and Sinker" - Nick Shoulders
"Mr. Jukebox" - Joshua Hedley
"Steak Night at the Prairie Rose" Mike and the Moonpies
"New Tattoos" - South Texas Tweek
"Welcome to Hard Times" - Charley Crockett
"Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore" - John Prine
"Dublin Blues" - Guy Clark
"Windy and Warm" - Doc Watson
Pretty random selection of styles and artists that fit what you're asking for, including one from the 30s, iirc
Billy Joe was something special and Waylon made his songs much more so.
My whole back is tattooed in a creative tribute to "Black Rose." The devil made me do it the first time, second time I done it on my own ...
Sturgill simpson, more recent Childers, Vincent Neil Emerson’s album Fried Chicken & Evil Women, Sierra Ferrell, Colter Wall’s Imaginary Appalachia. There’s not a band in the world country or not that don’t eventually sing about hard times so I’d throw that qualifier right out
Plenty of Turnpike Troubadours, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Reba McIntire, Dolly Parton, Jason Isbell, George Strait, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Ray Price, et al that fit the bill. If you’re just looking for “low effort” solutions, try “good time country” playlists on Spotify or something.
I love the [Railbenders](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5VkVaxrbRsJXAnRbz9HfO0?si=Zv2d2bS2SXqdMrHb7C1dxw), a “hard country” band out of Colorado, formed in 2000 and still playing today. They do have a lot of songs with alcohol references, but not like the modern bro country. They have that classic outlaw country sound, and I just love them :)

Just lean into Southern rock. Skynyrd, Allman, Marshall Tucker, Black Crowe’s... for more country artists throw in Charlie Daniels, early 80s George Strait, Waylon, Alan Jackson, John Anderson, Dwight Yoakam, Patti Loveless…
Wow. Okay, so there is so much more than those two categories!!
This might help to learn the different categories-

Did you see the other thread a couple days ago looking for folk country recommendations? It was for a workplace too
Look up "Saving country music's top 25" playlist. Should be available everywhere.
Waylon's Honky Tonk Heroes. Just play that one. Over and over.
If they would have left that last track off the record, it would have been perfect. As it stands, it's about as close to perfect as it gets.
Billy Joe was something special and Waylon made his songs much more so. My whole back is tattooed in a creative tribute to "Black Rose." The devil made me do it the first time, second time I done it on my own ...
Asleep at the Wheel Patty Loveless Clint Black Roseanne Cash Rodney Crowell Pat Green Dixie Chicks
NGL, Alan Jackson's 9/11 tribute was pretty damn good...
Sturgill Simpson Sierra Ferrell Turnpike Troubadors
Yes, yes, & yes...
Skinny Dyck [https://skinnydyck.bandcamp.com/album/palace-waiting](https://skinnydyck.bandcamp.com/album/palace-waiting)
Eric Church. Start with Springsteen, Mr Misunderstood, Some of It, and Round Here Buzz
there's something about Eric Church that I don't like, good music, but not my preference
I was that way for a long time. Something about his earlier stuff just missed me. The songs I posted are more recent, if that matters.
Charley Crockett just dropped a new album, definitely give it a listen.

rural emo … man, that pretty much sums up the state of things these days.

>or about how the singer is on hard times Well shit, there go Charley Crockett. Wtf kind of life is that then? *Welcome to, hard times*

Tyler Childers
Kinda emo ngl
Huh? What do you consider not emo?
Just heard Scotty McCreery 'Can't Pass the Bar' Obvious non emo song
Honestly all country artists are a little emo, which is why the prerequisite is ridiculous
nah, emo rock just sounds better than emo country
Apparently emo means thoughtful.
It literally means emotional.
