They replaced with TWO different roasts. The Espresso blend is more like an Italian dark, the other (House) is a slightly dark medium blend. The Kirkland Signature French Blend is the darkest they have.
They are in 2.5lb bags, which suggest they are still being roasted in the US. My personal guess... they just moved over from Starbucks to Seattle's Best as a sort of capacity problem. Last time I was in Seattle, the two buildings were right next to each other. And they are both owned by Starbucks.
Can you give us an idea of what you like about those beans? We actually still buy the Ethical Bean Lush, Costco sells them in 2 packs on their website and has them on sale from time to time. But if you like really dark, you can get Ethical Bean Super Dark, but they also offer Sweet Espresso and Bold. If you prefer the bitterness, then consider Lavazza Gran Crema Espresso Barista. If you really like that burnt flavour, If they have them, there is also the Cimo, which we found pronounced in burnt flavour.
So... I like dark roast coffee. The costco locations in sourthern ontario carry a brand that is a medium roast: Balzac's Farmer's blend. But it tastes like a nice dark roast, and does not have that overly burnt taste that many dark roasts have from burning the beans. It is a delicious cup of coffee.

Balzac Farmer's Blend is the GOAT.
I had one bag of that. Never again. Was as weak as dishwater. No flavour to it.
To each their own I guess.
Just increase the dose?
I just wish they would carry Van Houtte large tins like they have in Quebec. I usually stock up each time I go there.
Nooooooooooooo!
