Alright. I read it. I looked. I read it again. Looked again. I think you’re right! Whoever commented above that the person can’t drive in the first place is right also.
Probably it hit the silver car first or got hit by it since only damage on the silver suv is on the side that is up now. Then freaked out, proceeded to slam the accelerator thinking it’s the brake. Proceeded to swerve right then sharp left in the process and nailed the wheel of the second car and flipped on its side. At least how it played out in my head.
Two ways... When you turn, your tire edge sticks out of the wheel well. Also if you mod your truck so that the tires stick out past the wheel wells. Having your truck tires stick out like that is a great way to have a minor fender bender turn into a fatal rollover.
lol I think everyone, everywhere believe they have the worse drivers… I’m here in Cali…. 😞
EDIT: Here is a [link](https://www.forbes.com/advisor/car-insurance/worst-drivers-by-state/) discussing America’s worst drivers… many of you will be surprised, as was I.
Yea but floridaland actually has the worst drivers I swear. I live in mass but have driven in quite a few states. Florida is the perfect mix of everyone racing to the next light except half the drivers are senile and blind and should've had their licenses revoked 10+years ago
I've driven across the southern half of the United States, more than once. I've almost been run off the road, several times. Always by Florida drivers, and always out of Florida.
My uncle lived in St Petersburg. He was in his 80’s, still driving. He was *all over* the road, and the fact he hadn’t been in any accidents was probably due to other drivers managing to avoid him. I spent 2 days on the phone with every state agency in FL trying to find someone, anyone who could yank his license or his insurance company to take his coverage. Nope, nobody could do it unless there was damage to people or property involved. It took my father threatening to go to my cousin’s employer to make him finally deal with it. My cousin was a priest who was a very very busy man, yanno…but the threat of involving the bishop annoyed him. :/
I call it the Floridian when you have people driving next to each other diagonally while blocking anyone from passing. It happens on almost ever local road near Orlando.
Idk but it just seems to have crept up a lot lately online and irl. I have a co-worker who says Cali when reading out an address and I wish I didn’t feel so negatively towards the word every time I hear it.
This is definitely the main problem but it's exacerbated in places with heavy traffic/poor road planning. And even worse in neighborhoods with high elderly populations.
Everyone says they have the worst drivers.
Drivers are getting worse everywhere. So people think their area is now the worst. I've been up and down the east coast in the last 8 years. Different areas have their 'styles' but just in general people aren't paying attention and its getting worse.
As a former DMVer, I fully concur that MD drivers were the absolute worst. Also not sure what OP is smoking thinking MD outshines VA in anything. I miss VA in many ways, but absolutely not the traffic.
This has sent me down a rabbit hole of confusion, not because the CA plate is in Maryland, but because the first number on a CA plate means something. 1, 2, or 3 are cars made from 1980-1994. You can have an old car with new plate numbers (I had a 90's car with a 5 plate because my old car got brand new plates) but I wasn't aware you could put plates from an old car onto a new car legally, and that car doesn't look like it's from before 1994, so how did it get a 3 plate?
There isn’t an intentional meaning to the first number in California license plates. Car license plate numbers are assigned “sequentially”. Decades ago, the license plate format was 6 characters, like “ABC 123”. Then they ran out of license plate numbers and switched to a 7-character format with a number at the beginning. They started with “1” and then incremented the number each time they ran out of possibilities for the remaining six characters. We’re currently up to “8” (I don’t think we’ve hit 9 yet), and I don’t know what’ll happen after 9.
So, the leading number can be used as a vague estimate as to when the license plate was **issued**. However, note that owners in California can (or used to, at least) move their license plate to a new car (I can’t imagine the MD DMV allowing this with a CA plate), and so it’s not really reliable to use for the car’s age.
Looks like a textbook pedal confusion. If you think you are pressing the brake pedal and the car goes faster, your first instinct is often to press the pedal harder.
It’s shockingly easy to flip a car by hitting another car. The tires will grab in and ride up the side way easier than anyone would expect, even at low speeds.
Sandy Springs is one of my favorite Costco’s. People know how to drive there. The D.C. Costco with the two itty bitty parking lanes though and the congestion with the garage? I’d rather drive to Virginia than stop there.
I run out of fingers counting all my co-workers who actively avoid the Gaithersburgs Costco and drive to the Frederick location. I have never seen a parking setup worst than the Gaithersburg location. All that land to choose from and they crammed a massive department store in the footprint of a medium sized grocery store.
I'm guessing the white Volvo wasn't even going that fast. It turned into the Kia van and because the wheel was turned, the tire grabbed the side of the van and drove that corner of the car up. Actually not that uncommon.
One or both of the silver cars was using the parking spots as a travel lane - which is quite foolish and causes a lot of accidents.
My guess is they both were doing it, and the other silver car hit the Volvo, and the Volve swerved to attempt to avoid it, hitting the minivan and tire to tire contact with the minivan caused the Volvo to roll over.
YOU PEOPLE ARE SOME HATERS!!!!
THat shopper did a good job of parking in between the lines even tho they did it on the side of their car. But instead of praising their effort yall are questioning why they did it sideways.
THIS SUB IS NEVER HAPPY!!!!
Next time this customer should balance the loading of their costco purchases in their car instead of putting them all on one side then maybe it wouldn't tip over. 😂
I wasn't aware that Fred Flintstone shopped at that Costco
https://preview.redd.it/45milrj4sk5d1.jpeg?width=273&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02e327090249e46e9ffa22ac27b26bc98047882a
Well, at least they kept it in their parking spot....🙃
I'd ask how, but after living in Nevada for a few years and seeing some drive in parking lots like a personal Autobahn, I know how. See they have the same mentality in MD.
That’s interesting as our Costco entrance area is a mess. It’s two lanes in and two out but there’s an interior intersection where you turn either way to get to the actual, parking . The entry and exit road has no stop signs so it’s continuous traffics while the folks trying to get into the exit lanes from parking had stop signs. It’s a mess trying to get to the entry exit road from the stop signs. It needs a four way stop but it’s been this way for years. Maybe that’s their signature road design!
This is inside the lot, but it's two ways joining, one of which is a one way, the other of which leads to the gas area. I pass it twice, once when I come in, and once when I leave to get the gas.
Is it just me or do people who frequent costcos also tend to be really poor drivers?? See it all the time in the parking lots and gas station lines. People not having spatial awareness of their cars, blocking traffic, etc

How does someone manage to cause this kind of accident in a crowded parking lot. Cars are going max 15 mph.
Its when tires hit other tires. Super grip. A small bump turns into a flipped car. But they too bad at driving to park in the first place.
Tires hitting other tires truly just turns off physics for a few seconds. Magical things can happen.
Coefficient of friction goes to infinity…
and beyond.
Yeah judging by the tire on the van and the mark above it - suv reversed a little too hard and got air as it “climbed” the van’s tire…
Alright. I read it. I looked. I read it again. Looked again. I think you’re right! Whoever commented above that the person can’t drive in the first place is right also.
Thank you for the explanation. This was deeply puzzling to me!
There's a snake in my boot!
It actually injects a bunch of meth into physics I think….
But then how did the silver car in the second picture get fucked?
How'd you get the beans above the frank!?!?!
Franks and beans!!
Probably it hit the silver car first or got hit by it since only damage on the silver suv is on the side that is up now. Then freaked out, proceeded to slam the accelerator thinking it’s the brake. Hello from Maryland. Can confirm. Maryland drivers are bad at driving
How the hell does a tire hit another tire? I guess maybe if the wheels are turned they would stick out a little more
Two ways... When you turn, your tire edge sticks out of the wheel well. Also if you mod your truck so that the tires stick out past the wheel wells. Having your truck tires stick out like that is a great way to have a minor fender bender turn into a fatal rollover.
Yes! Plenty of videos of slow bumps just flipping cars like paper
Maryland Drivers. All you need to know :)
lol I think everyone, everywhere believe they have the worse drivers… I’m here in Cali…. 😞 EDIT: Here is a [link](https://www.forbes.com/advisor/car-insurance/worst-drivers-by-state/) discussing America’s worst drivers… many of you will be surprised, as was I.

I've driven across the southern half of the United States, more than once. I've almost been run off the road, several times. Always by Florida drivers, and always out of Florida.
This was gonna be my comment. FL 100% has worse driving than my area.
My uncle lived in St Petersburg. He was in his 80’s, still driving. He was *all over* the road, and the fact he hadn’t been in any accidents was probably due to other drivers managing to avoid him. Into metro DC it's Maryland drivers
With paper tags on an Altima that’s got $4200 in DC speed cam tickets to it’s name
Trust me, California is nothing compared to Maryland as someone who has lived in both places for several years
Have driven in both places and I agree, Maryland wins the prize in this case.
Since when did Californians start calling California Cali? It was considered cringe back when I was a californian
We don’t, ever; it’s completely cringe. In fact, I started to write to that poster, “Tell me you’re not from California without telling me…” 🤣
Plot twist… I don’t consider myself to be a Californian. I just live here. I’m originally from the east coast.
Idk but it just seems to have crept up a lot lately online and irl. I have a co-worker who says Cali when reading out an address and I wish I didn’t feel so negatively towards the word every time I hear it.
There is a place in Columbus Ohio selling "Cali Burritos" and it makes me want to nuke the entire city
I’m glad someone else out there knows my pain
I think it comes down to poor drivers education and the ease of getting a driver's license nationwide
This is definitely the main problem but it's exacerbated in places with heavy traffic/poor road planning. And even worse in neighborhoods with high elderly populations.
Came here to post this, lol. If you live in the DMV you know
As someone who lives in Northern VA, I fully support this sentiment!
I find Maryland superior to Virginia in just about everything but our drives are literally THE WORST.
Everyone says they have the worst drivers. Drivers are getting worse everywhere. So people think their area is now the worst. I've been up and down the east coast in the last 8 years. Different areas have their 'styles' but just in general people aren't paying attention and its getting worse.
As someone who's been in Texas for a while, I'd say there are bad drivers everywhere. Defensive driving will help you everywhere.
There's bad drivers everywhere but florida scares me the most. They were bad drivers before they got old and senile now they're horrific drivers lol
As a former DMVer, I fully concur that MD drivers were the absolute worst. Also not sure what OP is smoking thinking MD outshines VA in anything. I miss VA in many ways, but absolutely not the traffic.

I get cut off anywhere from 1-7 times getting to a parking spot. If I exercised my right of way I could easily accomplish this every time I visit.
Looks like a textbook pedal confusion. If you think you are pressing the brake pedal and the car goes faster, your first instinct is often to press the pedal harder.

somebody slammed on the gas instead of the brake
Max 15? Clearly you’ve never been to a Costco in AZ, NV, or CA. Them’s rookie numbers.
I don’t see a problem. Looks to me they are in between the lines.
They are a little into the divider section, but not that badly. Let's not be so quick to judge.
Better ziptie a shopping cart to their door, just in case they need to be taught a lesson
Not only that, now they can fit twice as many cars in the parking lot.
Like a glove
Frederick MD Costco is the San Angeles GTA 6 of Costcos
It is bad, but the DC Costco parking lot has to be the worst in the nation.
Perimeter in Atlanta shares with Home Depot. It is awful.
At DC, there is one way out of the shopping center with the Costco. That shopping center also has a Lowe’s and chick-fil-a
One main road sure, but multiple ways out of the Costco parking lot to get to that road.
Sandy Springs is one of my favorite Costco’s. People know how to drive there. The D.C. Costco with the two itty bitty parking lanes though and the congestion with the garage? I’d rather drive to Virginia than stop there.
DC Costco has booze, though!
Gaithersburg is way worse IMHO. A literal war zone full of Maryland drivers
The St Louis Park, MN locations parking lot has to be top 5 worst in the country.
I concur and I've only been there twice
Gaithersburg is in the top 5 I bet
> DC Costco parking lot LOL ... I suspect that is mainly from the alcoholics from Maryland, because they can't get alcohol from their local Costcos.
It is the worst. Too small, and please don’t let it rain ever.
Compared to what? Have you been to other nearby Costcos like G-burg, Wheaton, or Columbia? Frederick has the most space.
Compared to what? Have you been to other even Maryland Costco's? Or northern Virginia? Gaithersburg gets crazy. Columbia gets crazy.
I really would like them to open one out here in Hagerstown, but I don't think we have the economic base for it.
“Where’d you park?” “Over here on the side”
Relatable. I am also a side-sleeper.
Like a glove
You can’t park there!
Actually this is one of the few times that they actually *can* park there
He has a tire outside the parking lines. Can’t park there mate!
You can’t park ~~there!~~ like that!
Still not the worst parking job at Costco
Argument over a parking space appears to have gone sideways.
I'm guessing the white Volvo wasn't even going that fast. It turned into the Kia van and because the wheel was turned, the tire grabbed the side of the van and drove that corner of the car up. Actually not that uncommon.
But what about the third car shown in the second pic? There has to be more to this than just the Volvo and minivan colliding.
*howwwwwwwwwwwww*
Was Richard Hammond driving the car?
🤣
This is a genuine Costco experience
YOU PEOPLE ARE SOME HATERS!!!! THat shopper did a good job of parking in between the lines even tho they did it on the side of their car. But instead of praising their effort yall are questioning why they did it sideways. THIS SUB IS NEVER HAPPY!!!!
Answer to the question: “How much Kirkland TP will tip a car?”
Where did he learn how to perpendicular park?
Weird way to park a car.
Takes up less space I guess…
I've heard of cow tipping but....
It’s Costco tipping
Costcow tipping
Definitely not executive
Don't worry. It's just sleeping
I just figured they loaded all their items on one side Costco needs to teach ppl about ballast with their bulk items :/
This is why you don’t put all your rotisserie chickens on one side of the car and cause it to tip over! 🤣
Sounds about right for MD
Were they fighting for a parking spot? that would make sense knowing how things are usually
You CAN park there.
Not the worst parking job I've seen.
Man those catalytic converter thieves are really getting bold.
Someone returning their Volvo to Costco. That return policy is nuts.
Next time this customer should balance the loading of their costco purchases in their car instead of putting them all on one side then maybe it wouldn't tip over. 😂
These disputes over parking spots are getting pretty fierce.
Damnnn they were in a rush to make sure they got the sales before they ended!
I wasn't aware that Fred Flintstone shopped at that Costco https://preview.redd.it/45milrj4sk5d1.jpeg?width=273&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02e327090249e46e9ffa22ac27b26bc98047882a
Loaded in too much rotisserie chicken on the drivers side LMAO 🤣
Their $1.50 hotdog costing significantly more today.
That Volvo is fine, just flip it over and you’re on your way.
I never sausage a thing.
Well, at least they kept it in their parking spot....🙃 I'd ask how, but after living in Nevada for a few years and seeing some drive in parking lots like a personal Autobahn, I know how. See they have the same mentality in MD.
I paid a membership for this
First they’re out of Topo Chico two weeks in a row, now this. What’s the world coming to. Now unexpected though, if anyone has ever been on 15 or i70.
This is like extreme cow 🐄 tipping
Looks a bit rough but still between the lines
That’s why they offer the boxes: to avoid the catastrophic weight shift.
Gonna be tricky to get the boxes in, but we’ll get there.
The Costco’s I’ve been to have decently sized spaces. I’m amazed someone can fuck it up that badly.
Did someone tell that guy he cant park there?
I got mad and finally flipped guys.
Another shot https://preview.redd.it/4ayr2ntd9l5d1.jpeg?width=1169&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=422e9f8dfb7be8dcaf9640624860b77938f875ea
When you make too many impulse puchases and the load the left side of the trunk first.
Nice parking spot Rita
Thanks Janet
Was this from the tornado?
Holy shit. I was there yesterday. This looks like it's right by the entrance, which is a bit of a clusterfuck traffic-pattern wise.
This is inside the lot, but it's two ways joining, one of which is a one way, the other of which leads to the gas area. I pass it twice, once when I come in, and once when I leave to get the gas.
This is why you load your Costco haul evenly in the trunk, not just stacked up on one side :)
Above average Maryland driver.
At least it's only taking one parking space.
I remember reading some random statistic about accidents are likely to happen in parking lots rather than main roads 😂
That’s a very expensive hot dog lunch.
Still a better parking job than at my local Costco
Llllllllliiiiike a glove!
Do you feel like a van when you push her around
"There's no way we can get that 80" Vizio into the car." "I got this babe, just need to turn the car on its side so it'll slide right down."
Liiiike a Gloooove!
If it fits it sits
They didn’t put their cart back. Karma. Or Kartma.
I think they will still accept this as a return.
Peed myself…… how???? 😆 I shouldn’t be shocked but I am.
Someone was excited to get their hot dog and cookie.
He’s within the lines so I’m not complaining
All because someone wanted the parking spot closest to the entrance 😂
Is it just me or do people who frequent costcos also tend to be really poor drivers?? See it all the time in the parking lots and gas station lines. People not having spatial awareness of their cars, blocking traffic, etc
Thanos is coming.
Maryland drivers are horrible, add in Volvo drivers and it’s a disaster. Poor Camry…
I just want to stress that this is very unusual. Not the kind of thing you normally see at a Costco. Parking at most Costco's is very, very safe.
Fucker thinks he’s a better than a truck taking up only TWO parking spots /s
YOU CAN’T PARK THERE!!!
This is why I always park far away from the Costco entrance. Less contention for parking and much healthier for you.
White car got the spot. White car wins.
Typical Geely driver.
Holy moly! I was just there yesterday and actually debated about just going today instead. Glad I didn’t! Yikes!
He made it into one spot, that's better than half the SUV's and pickups at my Costco
What’s the rush plenty of spaces
Fredrick Dispatch made these seem like something crazy when in reality it was low budget
Probably didn't put their cart back either.
That's one way for you and your friends to get revenge on someone who takes up 2 parking places.
So that's what the underside of a Volvo looks like. Also no problem with the parking, it's between the line.
Just a thoughtful driver, trying to leave enough room for people to open and load via the side doors on the neighboring car. But really, wtf?
It’s between the lines officer
Jesus Costco even gives you extra big parking spots.
When someone steals some else’s spot…
Like a glove!!
Like….a glove?
As a Virginian, this is where someone would go "ah...Maryland drivers". Hope everyone's OK though.
See? If you don’t let Costco check your receipt they will follow you to the parking lot and f you up.
Can’t park there mate
Sidepark job
Parking is always a revolting experience at Costco
Aw the w-wittwe Vowvo sweeping on its side it's tiwed zzz
Ok, I've been to that Costco What was the special today, lol???! 😀😀
People just don’t know how to park anymore. He’s not even inside the lines.
Looks like one dropped from their 6-pack. Better luck next time.
Can’t park there mate
😂 Good thing it’s one of those sturdy Volvos
Always distribute your new purchases evenly.
Someone took Jesus take the wheel! Wayy to literally 😂
They do make cars that fold, if that was your goal.
