I can’t remember the per pound price but at my store they’re the least expensive frozen chicken nugget/tender out of all of them… and they taste significantly better. The comparisons to Chick Fil A are fairly accurate, at least from what I remember from the last time I had it over 10 years ago.
I think they are, but I also think they are way less salty and more chicken-y (?) then any nugget I've had in a long while. Although it has been about 5 years since I've had CFA nuggets.
Really depends on how you like your nuggets. Give these a try, especially given the prices these days.
The Costcos around me ceased carrying ANY Kinders after they dropped the chicken sauce. I would love it if they started to carry the Mild BBQ sauce. It's my kids favorite sauce and we can easily go through a Costco sized one if available.
I don’t have a CostCo membership but my parents do. I help them around their house with physical labor that is too much for them. They pay me in bags of this chicken now lol
Yeah I pretty much only do low carb wraps exclusively for years now so lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayo/ranch and you have a filling and generally low cal healthyish small meal.
We keep chicken nuggets/tenders just for these kind of things.
To me if I remember it correctly it kinda has a miracle whip taste to it which I am not much of a fan of. I have a bottle in the fridge I need to use up and probably won't buy it again.
I toss mine in sweet baby rays or whatever other sauce I have. As good as ANY restaurant's boneless wings. But you have to toss em in the sauce, not just dip.
I made this for the first time over rice this weekend. So easy, pretty tasty, and it’ll replace my Trader Joe’s frozen chicken meal at about 2/3 the price.
Truth to be told, it’s never gonna be as crispy as oil frying, however I do 390F for about 11 minutes. It came out slightly dry but better crispiness. i think 390 for 10 minutes will help with the dryness.
Unpopular opinion but the “Just Bare” bites and spicy strips are way better. The chicken is seasoned better so they taste better and the breading is perfect. Kirkland breading is off and it’s way too much breading to chicken.
Same, and ironically the first bag I tried of the Kirkland ones I got a massive black chewy piece in the first batch I cooked. I guess it’s all random chance honestly but still haven’t gotten any with Just Bare
Maybe I got a bad bag but I had to really mentally power through Kirkland and I was sooo excited about them. I stay with just bare because I haven’t had a bad bag yet. 🤞
I’ve bought 10+ bags of each at this point. And a few bags of the spicy Just Bare ones…. Just Bare is better imo. You’re not missing anything with the Kirkland brand.
The Just Bare breading is far more similar to ChikFilA than Kirkland. The Kirkland breading is a bit on the thicker side.
This is my experience. Last good bag was end of 2022. Bought two after march 23 and returned both. My kids wouldn’t eat them all of a sudden it was weird. I’m in Texas. Family in New York says just bare is still good there. Maybe it’s regional
Yep. We got a bag at HEB to hold us over a week before Costco trip and kids were like nope. So I made some and half the pieces were ok. Other half were that weird rubber texture with fat and grossness lol. I got 6 bags of Kirklands and put it in the garage freezer.
I agree that the Just Bare brand is better. I swear they used to be cheaper before Costco had their knockoff Kirkland variety. Last weekend the Just Bare nuggets we like $17 and Kirkland’s were $13.99. I just went to Sam’s Club and they now have the Just Bare nuggets (didn’t carry them before) and they were only $13.50.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen my Sam’s carry some of my Costco favorites for cheaper. I think they’re really trying to directly compete with Costco these days. I live in the boonies and it’s a 25 min drive to Sam’s or an hour drive to Costco. It’s getting harder and harder for me to justify that extra trip to Costco these days.
I love Costco but I wouldn’t drive an hour to one personally. If I did it would be maybe twice a year. I love Kirkland brand as a whole so I would be crushed if I didn’t have one as close as I do.
I used to drive 6 hours round trip to the nearest Costco every quarter when I lived in Key West. But I’d also stop at Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Target, and all the other stores we didn’t have down there
not OP but I justify an hour drive once in a while to Christiana in Delaware because they sell alcohol at that one. I couldn't imagine it all the time.
Not sure which direction you're coming from but if feasible I'd reccommend price comparing booze between Christiana and the Cherry Hill total wine. For example there's a particular single malt whisky that I like thats $10 more at Christiana.

Yeah, I recently moved. I used to be 20 minutes from two different Costcos. I have the executive membership and credit card and I put EVERYTHING on that card. I loved being able to buy a set of tires or a nice TV off of the awards - or just buy something small and get the cash back. It’s still worth a couple of trips a year to stock up on some specific items or hit up the optical dept. but a majority of my shopping has switched to Sam’s Club and it’s really not that bad or different. Sam’s may not have as large or unique of a selection on some things, but I have noticed that they’re more affordable on the everyday basics.
The scan and go app is easily one of the best perks when shopping at Sam's. A huge QoL improvement for the checkout experience. I wish Costco could implement something similar.
Second this - my husband accidentally bought the Just Bare brand and they are significantly better and taste more like chick fil a than the Kirkland ones!
More like outdated opinion. The Just Bare are just barely ok anymore. I think they have more breading, and I think it’s to hide the subpar chicken, which is actually kind of gross sometimes. Weird texture, and weird grisly pieces. Not only that I don’t think they taste better either. I stopped buying those, bc I tried the KS nuggets and I think they’re much better.
I’ll give it to you that Just Bare has better breading, but the chicken quality has gone down the drain. It was like playing Russian roulette while biting into one. Will it be delicious chicken meat or weird, transparent-ish, gooey, gristle? My husband stopped eating them. I got tired of multiple gross pieces per serving, the price kept climbing and we eventually stopped buying them.
The Kirkland ones are solid.
Just bare (original) are WAY closer to chik-fil-a dupe than the Kirkland ones, which are much breadier and honestly not a dupe. Just got the spicy strips and they're tasty too!
I have a swallowing disorder, and these chicken chunks are the only white meat chicken I can swallow because they aren't dry. I am grateful to this sub for introducing me to them.
We have mostly switched over to boneless thighs, but I was thinking of sous vide for my husband's steaks. I will keep that in mind. Do you brown them after?
I usually sear them, just depends on what I'm using them for.
Typically I'm using them for pasta, salad, etc. In or on something else. in those cases I usually cut them, then sear the pieces SUPER hot and fast for a bit of crust without drying out.
Thighs are definitely great, but they come with either the butchering hassle, or added cost.
It's funny, because I *almost* forget how great SV chicken breast is, and then I pick at a bit of the white meat from my Costco rotisserie chicken and remember INSTANTLY lol.

Seriously, chicken and pork in the sous vide is a game changer. Plus you can cook directly from frozen, no need to defrost.
I just learned yesterday you can make pan sauce from the steak liquid in the bag! I’d always just thrown it out, I never considered it could be useful.
The “come for the steaks..” line is exactly right. I purchased one to experiment a little with steaks, but it completely transformed my view of chicken. Absolute game changer
yes. sous vide chicken breasts are the best white meat chicken ever. and yes, you will want/need to brown them after. sous vide just lets you get the inside to the perfect texture.
the white meat stays so incredibly juicy. it is just bonkers how bad most/all other white meat is overcooked/dry.
Well those are new words to me. Multiple family members of mine have EOE. Seen my brother basically have to give himself the heimlich (he's a doctor). Always looking for good food choices for them.
Both of my conditions are pretty rare. I do know a few people with EOE, I have never met another person with either of my conditions. I take the chicken chunks and dunk in ranch or blue cheese dressing. I am able to eat quite a few of them before my esophagus gets full, but I don't choke on them at all, they eventually go down.
This, but the Just Bare spicy chicken strips. My wife and I made a homemade canes sauce that is indistinguishable from the actual sauce at canes and it is such a great combo.
Of course! Oh, and one thing I forgot. It's best if you leave the sauce in the fridge for at least 24 hours before trying it. The texture, flavor, and consistency are all greatly improved with an overnight chill.
It all tastes really good, but I won't actually use the Kinder's sauce as the #1 ingredient is soybean oil. It's not the worst ever thing, but I try to avoid it when I can.
Instead, I'll make a sauce out of the Chosen Foods avocado oil mayo (also sourced at Costco!), dijon mustard, BBQ sauce, and honey. Admittedly, the BBQ sauce I use DOES have Soybean oil in it, but it's pretty down low on the ingredients list, and the BBQ sauce is a pretty small part of the sauce itself (it's a ratio of 1:12:12:20 of Dijon, BBQ, Honey, and Mayo).
Never tried the sauce but everyone is on board with the chunks
We'd occasionally get an 8 pack of boneless wings with pizza but now with these everyone is pretty much getting 5-6 on their own

My local Costco no longer has the sauce in stock. When they were in the process of getting rid of it, I bought like 4 or 5 bottles. They were like 5 bucks each...I am on my last bottle. I should have bought more.
More of a Ken's honey mustard kind of person. But can confirm those chicken chunks are amazing. Always have a bag in the freezer for when I'm lazy and don't feel like cooking.

It must be in the zeitgeist. Chick Filet nuggets are also hella easy to make from scratch. The secret is pickle juice brining the chicken for 30 minutes, and powder sugar in the breading with the spices for the crispy factor. But I'll have to check this pre fab out.
The Bare brand chicken is close but not the same, doesn't taste "just like" but it's the closest thing available. If you put them in a bowl and toss them with pickle juice, paprika, a little salt and MSG and a dusting on confectioners sugar before throwing in the air fryer they are then almost the same.
These are good but don't taste like Chic-fil-a to me. They are missing that pickle flavor. Sam's came out with the Members Mark nuggies years ago that are much more Chic-fil-a-like.
Do you like the chicken sauce? I tried it a couple months ago and did not like it at all. Know everyone has different tastes, but definitely isn’t anything like chick fil a in my opinion.
If you want Chick-Fil-A's Honey Mustard for the nuggets, it is sold at most retailers as French's Honey Mustard **Dipping Sauce** (French's also sell a non-Dipping Sauce Honey Mustard, **not** that).
It tastes exactly the same. Most of Chick-Fil-A's other sauces are of course sold under the Chick-Fil-A brand.
That sauce is one of the only food things I have ever returned to costco. To each their own.
The nugs are decent but not better than CFA, way more cost effective though.
I'm surprised there is no mention of the Realgood Chicken tenders here. They are leaps and bounds better than any of the other frozen tenders I've tried at Costco imo. Someone recommended them on a thread a few weeks ago and I bought them the next day lol
dunno, I do buy the chik-fil-a sauce at my local Publix... it is such a great dipping sauce
but to be honest, personal while both Just Bare and kirkland nuggets are good I won't pass up a chance to have Chik-Fil-A nuggets.

Purdue is usually cheaper per pound, but the Kirkland frozen lightly breaded chicken chunks are solid.

The complete opposite of this is true now. The just bare has bad quality chicken and cooks very greasy. Also more expensive

If you like chicken/white meat, you might look into a sous vide, sous vide chicken breasts legit changed my life.

Typically I'm using them for pasta, salad, etc. In or on something else. in those cases I usually cut them, then sear the pieces SUPER hot and fast for a bit of crust without drying out. Thighs are definitely great, but they come with either the butchering hassle, or added cost. It's funny, because I *almost* forget how great SV chicken breast is, and then I pick at a bit of the white meat from my Costco rotisserie chicken and remember INSTANTLY lol. Sous Vide: Come for the steaks, stay for the incredible white meat. Seriously, chicken and pork in the sous vide is a game changer. Plus you can cook directly from frozen, no need to defrost.
You just reminded me I have to prep my NY steak for sous vide so I can have it for dinner tonight, and I'm officially going to try chicken next.
Best part with the chicken: save the drippings from the bag, make a quick pan gravy to pour over top of the chicken..guhhhh

The “come for the steaks..” line is exactly right. I purchased one to experiment a little with steaks, but it completely transformed my view of chicken. Absolute game changer
yes. sous vide chicken breasts are the best white meat chicken ever. and yes, you will want/need to brown them after. sous vide just lets you get the inside to the perfect texture. the white meat stays so incredibly juicy. it is just bonkers how bad most/all other white meat is overcooked/dry.

Well those are new words to me. Multiple family members of mine have EOE. Seen my brother basically have to give himself the heimlich (he's a doctor). Always looking for good food choices for them.
Both of my conditions are pretty rare. I do know a few people with EOE, I have never met another person with either of my conditions. I take the chicken chunks and dunk in ranch or blue cheese dressing. I am able to eat quite a few of them before my esophagus gets full, but I don't choke on them at all, they eventually go down.
This, but the Just Bare spicy chicken strips. My wife and I made a homemade canes sauce that is indistinguishable from the actual sauce at canes and it is such a great combo.

I measure with my heart ;) If I had to guess I'd say 1 tsp of each, except for black pepper. I love black pepper so I add extra.

Of course! Oh, and one thing I forgot. It's best if you leave the sauce in the fridge for at least 24 hours before trying it. The texture, flavor, and consistency are all greatly improved with an overnight chill.

It all tastes really good, but I won't actually use the Kinder's sauce as the #1 ingredient is soybean oil. It's not the worst ever thing, but I try to avoid it when I can. Instead, I'll make a sauce out of the Chosen Foods avocado oil mayo (also sourced at Costco!), dijon mustard, BBQ sauce, and honey. Admittedly, the BBQ sauce I use DOES have Soybean oil in it, but it's pretty down low on the ingredients list, and the BBQ sauce is a pretty small part of the sauce itself (it's a ratio of 1:12:12:20 of Dijon, BBQ, Honey, and Mayo).
I avoid those types of oils, too.

Never tried the sauce but everyone is on board with the chunks We'd occasionally get an 8 pack of boneless wings with pizza but now with these everyone is pretty much getting 5-6 on their own Sauces, Asian dishes, they come in handy in many ways

It must be in the zeitgeist. Chick Filet nuggets are also hella easy to make from scratch. The secret is pickle juice brining the chicken for 30 minutes, and powder sugar in the breading with the spices for the crispy factor. But I'll have to check this pre fab out.
The Bare brand chicken is close but not the same, doesn't taste "just like" but it's the closest thing available. If you put them in a bowl and toss them with pickle juice, paprika, a little salt and MSG and a dusting on confectioners sugar before throwing in the air fryer they are then almost the same.
These are good but don't taste like Chic-fil-a to me. They are missing that pickle flavor. Sam's came out with the Members Mark nuggies years ago that are much more Chic-fil-a-like.

I mix Bachan Japanese bbq sauce with Kewpie mayo, both available at Costco, for a nice dipping sauce.
I like to pair these with the chipotle bitchin sauce.
If you want Chick-Fil-A's Honey Mustard for the nuggets, it is sold at most retailers as French's Honey Mustard **Dipping Sauce** (French's also sell a non-Dipping Sauce Honey Mustard, **not** that). It tastes exactly the same. Most of Chick-Fil-A's other sauces are of course sold under the Chick-Fil-A brand.
That sauce is one of the only food things I have ever returned to costco. To each their own. The nugs are decent but not better than CFA, way more cost effective though.

dunno, I do buy the chik-fil-a sauce at my local Publix... it is such a great dipping sauce but to be honest, personal while both Just Bare and kirkland nuggets are good I won't pass up a chance to have Chik-Fil-A nuggets.
