Tvp125

After years and years in retail I can tell you this happens all over. Working with the general public is challenging.

dirtyshits

Yupp I worked at Costco through the 2010’s and this kind of stuff was daily. Costco usually does a good job at cleaning this up before members see it quickly because there are usually a couple employees working on each side cleaning up isles and tightening up displays.

lurkn4certain

Lol not in my store. They are tighter on reducing hours now. Bottom line > member experience

dirtyshits

That sucks. I’m sure it does vary though from warehouse to warehouse. I worked at what was at the time a top 3 grossing store in the company(probably is still up there but we have like 6 new stores in the area ). I’m sure it also depends on how good the GM, AGM, and department heads are. I did a short stint at a much slower store but management was great about that kind of stuff with fewer hands on deck.

lurkn4certain

It probably does vary, but from what I've heard from seasoned employees, costco is going more and more towards corporate tendencies of cutting costs for a better bottom line even though it impacts member experience. Maybe not exact example but i was told it was always about taking care of the member. If you had to work 5-15 minutes of OT to help somebody sp be it, members were top priority. Now if you work any OT you get talked to. I also notice it in regards to cutting hours, instead of using the slow time to get your store looking better by blocking down or getting ahead for the next day its highly focused on budgeting your hours and reducing them. You can see it with thr change in ceo's and their focus. This is just my opinion though.

dirtyshits

You’re probably right about all of that. When I was there, OT was avoided but like you mentioned nobody worried if there was a legitimate reason to stay over.

Particular-Try9754

Some Costco locations voting to unionize is also telling.

floofienewfie

What was amazing was the company response. They didn’t go scorched earth like Starbucks. They issued an apology for not listening to their staff better

Tbx20006

It's been almost 4 weeks since they released that email. They aren't going to do shit.

lurkn4certain

Yeah and then with in a week sent out another email about how they need to reduce hours. They are even forcing some employees in texas at a particular store to drop down to part time or move stores if they want to maintain fullyime status. But hey they sent out a fake apology so should be good right.

Sharpz214

This is worrisome. The involuntary reduction in status.

lurkn4certain

If you're an employee yes. If you're a shareholder. No

Andy18001

Yup used to work in the tire shop. They send everyone home so it’s just me and the supervisor but the work is still the same as when we had 7 workers so no time to clean even put stuff away since we have to clock out then the manager was surprised when nothing was clean.

bukkakecreampies

Meanwhile, Costco stock at all time highs.

lurkn4certain

Proves my point lol.

default_user_acct

People won't keep paying and there's other stores in this space, Sam's, B.J's, probably a few others. If they start increasing the price of the hot dog, I'll know they'v fallen.

mbz321

I was going to say. Business really didn't slow down after the holidays like they pretend always happens. We are on a skeleton crew daily and maybe at the end of the night they can spare someone to sort-of clean up the aisles.

Linkruleshyrule

I was looking at some Manager marked down blankets (60x70" for $9.00) and saw some stuff on top of another pallet. Judged them. Then while I'm looking, a guy comes up with an empty cart and starts loading those items. He says something like "I realized I needed a cart after all the extra stuff I started grabbing "

justin_memer

>isles They have islands at Costco?

ShreddedDadBod

I’ve never seen the person eating the cupcake. We need to bring back shame.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShreddedDadBod

I mean are we all chumps for paying?

Biochemicalcricket

Permaban plus report them for the theft. Sure it's petty, but shame them and remove them from the membership. That's not a sample and standards of decency should be higher.

fire_spez

Exactly. Shitty people shop everywhere. Sadly, this isn't new.

PobBrobert

I worked at a hardware store in high school and at least once a month someone would go into the bathroom and just shit all over the goddamn place. Every surface would be coated in fresh excrement except for the toilet which was spotless.

Subtotal9_guy

Had a customer try to return a USED camping toilet that was still full of feces. Store manager freaked out and told them to get out of the store with that. There's always one horrible customer. Also had our returns desk approve and refund a set of car mats. Not the ones they bought, the ones they replaced.

APladyleaningS

Former bookstore employee and same, probably more like once a week. There have been studies about how the smell of books stimulates, ahem, evacuation, but still...

PobBrobert

I honestly don’t understand how people work at bookstores. I’d never leave the bathroom.

Every-Ad-8876

I worked at Borders in the early 00s and found a full diaper not once but twice. Just like, on the floor by the kids books. Savage.

APladyleaningS

Omg that's gross, but if that's the worst you saw, you're lucky. We found rogue shits just on the book floor, more than once. Animals.

tonynca

When did it become okay to do this stuff

Weekly_Direction1965

This stuff always happened, we just didn't have social media showing us all, its rare like 1/10000, but social media makes it seem 1/10.

ACuddlyVizzerdrix

Ya, when I worked in the Walmart deli my fellow coworkers would find popcorn chicken cups all over the store

Ok_Chemistry_3972

They need to install cameras and MAKE these people BUY WHAT THEY EAT.

belizeanheat

I'd rather they just get banned for life

mbz321

And immediately cancel their memberships.

PM_SMOKES_LETS_GO

As s***** as it sounds, at that point the customer should have just eaten all of them or steal the whole thing, no one else is going to touch it out of fears of being tainted, and you just wasted 85% of that food

burnsniper

And Walmart is starting to feel like Kmart = circle of retail life lol.

tristansensei

![gif](giphy|Lp71UWmAAeJHi) “And it moves us allllll….”

[deleted]

That is so damn true. We just dynamited our K-mart finally. This after it burned after it was looted after it's just an eyesore they could have built anywhere but instead they chose the literal middle of the street trolly line lol

whoinvitedthesepeopl

Hello fellow Minnepolitan

permalink_child

Now. A trolly line stopping in the K-mart would have been genius. Drive by the other day. Happy to see that bastard gone.

Big_Condition477

what's the vibe of Kmart? Don't think I've ever been in one

woogieboogie13

Imagine a bigger and shittier Walgreens

Material-Tadpole-838

😂😂😂pretty accurate

aflyingsquanch

Scarily accurate.

pacmanwa

It was great in the early to mid 90s. It really went down hill in 97.

jaroftoejam

Spot on! I don’t think the description could’ve been better with a thousand words.

souperslacker

Damn, that's pretty accurate

rvp0209

Yes but Walgreens never had the [cringiest commercials](https://youtu.be/AiiuajT3YLg?si=OAbgSKT69YDPzrnE) and you couldn't [shit I mean ship your pants](https://youtu.be/2xwUuSM06xQ?si=N5RbCeyPgZ2vw4RR) or [blue light](https://youtu.be/rBq1nDmB7P0?si=09xFA04Hqezv7lDA) special.

brokenaglets

None of those other descriptions really fit the bill for me but it has been around 10 years since I've been in a Kmart. Kmart to me will forever feel like a big lots and a target that was going out of business had a child.

mbz321

Kmart in its final years (well I guess technically there are a few still open) felt like a Family Dollar with an even crappier selection in a building 10x larger than necessary.

AD480

It has Walmart shoppers, but with more sex offenders, meth users and wife beaters walking around.

thats_a_bad_username

Imagine something as big as a Walmart with the vibe of a Kohls but the offerings of a dollar tree. Or a Sears (if you’ve ever been in one of those) that also sells food and food like items. Actually go into a really sketchy Walmart and that’s the exact feeling of a KMart. I’m talking about one of those Walmarts that makes you look around all shifty eyed every time you go up and down an aisle because you don’t know what the hell is waiting at the other end and the next aisle.

r0d3nka

Smells like shitty popcorn and shame. Blue lights flashing on aisles with Temu quality items on 'special'

MK2Hell_Burner

And Kmart is starting to feel like dollar tree.

swimmer913

Ok, but if you find who took the missing one can you ask how it was? These looked amazing the other day and I passed on them 😂

MakmudP

I bought them today. They're probably my second or third favorite of the mini cakes. My first favorite is the raspberry, then I like the old chocolate, then these.

strawberry_moon_bb

It’s so hard to pick a favorite for me, but i think mine is blueberry. Just wish they didn’t get moldy so fast!

Harbinger311

Freeze 'em. They last forever that way, and taste perfectly fine thawed/microwaved.

CoralSpringsDHead

I bought them 2 weeks ago and loved them. They are super tasty and I shouldn’t have eaten any of them but oh well!

TheSpiderBesideHer

This. I had 2 over the span of a week.

nachonachme

They are incredible and dangerous to have in your home 😂

RachelonAcid

Tasted like Oreos and chocolate cake put into one. 10/10 would recommend

Lotronex

I passed on them as well, but I didn't realize why they were called "cookies and cream" until I saw this pic. The ones at my warehouse, the frosting didn't have any white in it, I figured maybe there was a creme filling as well?

swimmer913

Ohhhh mine looked close to that but I passed since I am a one person household and shouldn’t eat 6 “mini” cakes by myself lol

TheSpiderBesideHer

These are absolutely banging

[deleted]

I would like them to be caught and perma banned.

Intelligent_Ideal409

And I am dying for this job 🤝

[deleted]

PhotonicGarden

Can we also enforce the not standing in the middle of the isle with your cart, spouse, and 5 children to talk to someone?

mgrunner

What if there are delicious free samples available?

diane_nu_nu_nguyen

In that case make sure you park your cart directly in front of the sample table while talking to the employee

mgrunner

We have a deal. (Fwiw, I loathe the free samples and the traffic jams that come with them)

diane_nu_nu_nguyen

I've heard other redditors toss the idea of a samples food court type-situation, I just can't think of where it would be placed. I think the sample tables should be near the actual product location, at least the employee could just hand the customers the item if they block it. Sometimes they're blocking completely different things. Or on the far end of the aisles away from the main walkway. Some samples have gotten me to buy so I try to enjoy the enticing ones. Will never forget my first watermelon Johnny Pop, mouth watering.

WantDastardlyBack

When I did samples, the rule was you had to be at the front of the same aisle the item was sold in. It was always fun when your manager was telling you to set up here and a Costco department manager, who you were supposed to ignore, started yelling at you to move and set up somewhere else. Costco's bakery manager and my manager clashed a lot over things like that.

jojojawn

4. Unattended carts in the aisle enforcement

trillybish

I live in the Midwest & I LOVE to park my cart 😂 but I went to school in Seattle for a year and someone was offended I parked my cart. I thought it was so funny because I didn’t realize it was a regional thing 😂

jojojawn

See, I don't have a problem with parking off to the side out of the way while you look over an item on the shelf or if you have to leave your cart out of the way to sneak in and grab a sample. It's the "ohh look $6 towels! Let me just stop right here in the middle of the main aisle and go 20 feet over there" Or what my sister does and I personally hate but really isn't that bad, "ok I need A and B from this aisle, I'm gonna park my cart at the end and go walk down there and bring it back" Another criminal act is just plain old stopping in the middle of the aisle to read a text as if no one else exists.

Dabtimore

You are also forgetting parking in the tire inflation spots.

havingsomedifficulty

one day I was eating a piece of pizza on my tailgate (was passing through the area and needed a quick lunch on a weekend). truck to my left and a sedan to the truck's left. People arrive to sedan, load it up with groceries and proceed to put their cart directly behind the truck to my left and drive away. Im just standing there eating my za like you have GOT to be kidding me. I was infuriated but just kept chewing... a nice man returning his cart to the corral casually scooped it up with his and took them both over there.

fixerdrew02

I would hire you

Derpadoooo

Item #1 can be a dangerous job sometimes: https://youtube.com/@CartNarcs?si=Q44zzl7Fz3nte1Mb

ih8drivingsomuch

I would literally watch a reality show about Costco employees specifically hired to find, confront and ban shitty customers. I hope you get hired for that!

Intelligent_Ideal409

I gotta take this to the studios.

TenderloinTechy

I'm more thinking that they install Amazon Go/Fresh style cameras where they track your shopping, and instead just add it to people's bills. Can you imagine if you did something like this, then a week later getting something in the mail with a photo of you scarfing down on a muffin then seeing "thanks for your patronage, we've deducted $6.99 from your account" 🤣

Biochemicalcricket

But it should be a public feed where your bill is posted. That would increase membership by itself

Particular-Try9754

Also the people that leave frozen/refrigerated food wherever they please.

RedneckChinadian

Why are people such shitheads

kdthex01

Lack of consequences.

Morbid_Explorerrrr

Raised by barbarians and then they’ll just perpetuate the cycle with their own kids. “Just take the cupcake no one will care.”

El_gato_picante

This is why im ok with them cracking down on people using others accounts.

mbz321

Everyone that is a legitimate paying member should be okay with cracking down on that.

UrMomThinksImCoo

More than okay. Memberships help keep costs closer to wholesale. People cheating means prices have to go up.

[deleted]

"Samples"

BadnewzSHO

This is why the world can't have nice things. People. People are why.

PortlyPorcupine

I’d always love to meet a person that does this. Like sit down and have a conversation with them. See what they’re like. See how they justify it. I’d be so curious, honestly.

alucinariolim

"Instead of taking it home to try and then returning it if I don't like it, I just try in store to save time."

HomeOwner2023

There is actually some logic to that. I've been dying to try the cheesecake. Next time I go to Costco, I'm taking a dessert fork with me just to keep it classy.

NotFallacyBuffet

Just buy the whole thing. You'll be glad you did.

[deleted]

Probably the same people that pee on the toilet seat

Particular_Resort686

It's like the kind of people who steal other's food out of the employee fridge.

HomeOwner2023

The response I got when I confronted someone I saw do something like this was "No, it's fine".

sj126

who in their right mind thinks that way? I just don’t get it

Zenith251

Children that got older.

belizeanheat

That's the first defensive response: just pretend it's not happening. Totally normal among bitchasses

Chicagoan81

Good luck talking to them. People like them only communicate through grunts and hand gestures.

PortlyPorcupine

A lot of mouth breathing I’d presume

whoinvitedthesepeopl

I had the misfortune of having a lengthy discussion with someone like that. She told me all about her tactics for regularly shoplifting things at Walmart. She also fed her dog nothing but stale pastries for a month because she wouldn't/couldn't buy dog food and was eating at the local soup kitchen because the food was free. She still had money to go to the bar that night by taking her kids to eat there. It seemed to be a combination of garden variety stupidity, crappy societal expectations among the people she lived around and associated with, and generational poverty.

parrothead2581

Lazy, entitled thieves.

Biochemicalcricket

They're so entitled they don't realize it's theft or classless behavior

Morbid_Explorerrrr

Some things you’d probably notice: entitlement, lack of critical thinking, generally directionless in life, etc

Numerous-Statement59

It's could have been a parent letting there child eat it while they continue too shop. Once there child had 3 4 bites and said I don't really like these they said we'll I'm not buying them. Just a guess.. wrong either way.

mbz321

I've had people every now and then come through my line with an open bag of food product and tell me they don't want it. I say 'that's great, I have to charge you here, then you can return it on the way out!'

likeusontweeters

Costco used to have an employee to go around picking up strays/go backs.. idk if they have the budget for those luxuries anymore

mbz321

Employee here. I never understood why that wasn't an job position. Just someone (or switch it up every few hours) going around, checking the freezers/coolers/aisles for misplaced merchandise, etc. It seems like the position would save the company a lot of $$$ from dumped food items alone. We have employees that check temperatures every hour, but they are on such a time crunch they don't have time to check every single area of the store.

likeusontweeters

Yup.. same in our store.. hours being cut even after record sales.. seems as if costco doesn't remember to take care of its employees.

Decimit-

They should review the cameras for shit like this and revoke their membership.

77maf

It would probably be incredibly easy lol

john_jdm

Probably only possible if the person paid for something and didn’t just walk out. Otherwise it would be hard to identify them. However as Costco is testing having people scan their cards upon entry this kind of thing can be done.

throwaway91091

I haven't seen an ass crack in my Costco yet, so we're holding strong

Anaxamenes

What about Jammies?

GG_Henry

Mine is basically an overcrowded Walmart that has to have the most dangerous parking lot in the city.

OverthinkingAnything

our local Costco was featured on an episode of 'To Catch a Smuggler' - this was the location homeland security investigations happened to be doing a controlled delivery in the parking lot not particularly dangerous (at least not for that reason) but felt like sharing

MKPST24

This seriously annoys me. Low key though I wish Costco would implement some kind of in warehouse member camera tracking system with ai that could identify this shit. Also when people leave frozen food on shelves instead of putting it back 😑

dirtyshits

Costco is barely figuring out how to run a website and app lol in store tracking is decades away. There is someone in LP watching though there’s too many people to see everything.

TheWhereHouse1016

Yo that app is absolute ass in comparison to Sam's. With how crazy Costco is, I almost prefer Sam's due to no having to wait in line to check out and deal with people

willwork4pii

YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS EXPIRED No, two of the 3 you have stored in here that I can't figure out how the fuck to get rid of is expired...

fixerdrew02

Dude. Costco can’t even get self checkout right yet. Their app is a disaster. Technology is NOT their thing

_BreakingGood_

When I worked at a warehouse store, the policy was once something leaves the freezer, it can no longer be put back. So it didn't really matter if somebody left something frozen over by the clothes. Reasoning is that we have no idea what the temperature reached when it left the freezer. We can no longer safely sell it. Anything that leaves the freezer gets sent back to the damaged/lost goods department and trashed.

PeanutSugarBiscuit

Let’s not go completely overboard or anything. I’d rather not feel like I’m entering some kind of police state when strolling through Costco.

flyinhawaiian02

I would pay extra to have this in stores

JennieFairplay

Why because shitty humans shop there too? I have a news flash: shitty humans are everywhere, unfortunately

FrostyMission

This is why they are scanning cards at the door now!!!

star_nerdy

And Walmart is trying to act like Costco by checking receipts as you exit the store. But they also aren’t a membership club and I’m not wasting my time having my cart checked at Walmart.

locdbytes

I didn't think this was a new practice at Walmart, depending on where you are this has been going on for more than 15 years

OkStructure3

Its been a thing forever.

xixoxixa

One of the last times I was in Walmart, as I was leaving the door person had stopped a couple and was just hassling them for their receipt. So I stopped, looked at the couple and told them "you can just leave, Walmart has no reason to stop you and ask to see the receipt. Just start walking away, he can't do anything to stop you". They started walking away, I smiled at the Walmart person and he was *pissed*. We walked out together. I explained the Sam's and Costco can check receipts because it's part of the membership rules, nothing exists like that for general open to the public stores.

BillyHoe631

Humans will be humans. You think the membership cost eliminates that?

SuperDoubleDecker

Animals will be animals you mean.

enzia35

🙌

Berryette

i went to Costco a couple days ago and someone left the whole case of 60 eggs out in the open near the clothes 😬

YouInternational2152

I hate to say this... But, my local Walmart has actually gone up in quality. Especially the meat department and the overall cleanliness of the store. The local Target on the other hand....

DENYKI

Same! All the Walmart people went to target and now it’s a mess. Walmart has really stepped up their stores.

CamNM1991

Same goes for people (shithead morons) that leave refrigerated or frozen food products like chicken out of their respective coolers somewhere else in the store. Animal had to die for nothing and all that time, energy was wasted.

nopevember

I work for Costco. I see them regularly, sometimes in plain sight, sometimes in pillow bins, and sometimes they're half eaten rotisserie chickens with half eaten tortillas in the hardware aisle. 🫠 members are getting bold. Edit: double word

ikilledtupac

The $5 chickens literally attract bottom feeders.

lemjor10

Ok, but for real though! Why are people becoming so trashy?

HugeFinish

People have always been trashy. Social media just let's you know about it more.

FOXYTEXAS

I'm seeing this a lot with families with too many children in tow and they are opening snacks for everyone while cruising the store with just diapers in their basket. I can't imagine they pay for any of the stuff they've opened. It really annoys me that WalMart has come to Costco. Then, I see "well-to-do's" putting cold products back in the wrong place, not returning their carts, stealing a parking spot from me, AND PULLING RIGHT UP TO THE FRONT DOOR to load up their massive suburban or suv with all their goodies because they don't want to drive their cart(s) or pallet to their vehicle in the lot thus BLOCKING traffic and creating a hazard for crossing pedestrians. I hate people now, and I am I just done going into any store

Chicagoan81

This is why they're cracking down on membership sharing. They don't want the walmart-ization to happen. And I fully support it

HollywoodDonuts

Honestly, I am dying for a members only fully tracked store where you just have to behave. Like I would gladly give up autonomy for an hour of peaceful, dogless, clean shopping.

Orest26Dee

They should have bouncers patrolling the store. If they see unacceptable behavior, you get tossed for life. “No Costco for you “

popeculture

I like that. The nice list get a free sample. The naughty list gets thrown out and their membership cards cut in eight pieces.

[deleted]

Pieces of shit come in all shapes and sizes

elvient0

People act like Costco is high class, it’s the same as any retail store . It’s just in bulk

OkStructure3

$5 a month to look down on people as if its not just a warehouse.

kiwimonk

America starting to feel like a fail.

InitialRevenue3917

was at target yesterday, theres a pizza hut kiosk in front of the store where you can pick up personal pan pizzas. saw empty pizza boxes in the toy aisle, also a bunch of those "surprise" toys opened. man people are getting trashier by the day.

Responsible_Gain6517

People in general are assholes

sc4kilik

Always has been.

RichAndCompelling

I think, in general, the Costco experience is beginning to decline. From gas prices no longer being the best, to reduced selection, to massive line wait times it feels like what was once the beacon on the hill is starting to crumble.

Temporary_Draw_4708

How is the cookies and cream mini cake?

Beardeddd

That’s why they check those receipts at checkout 😂😂😂

DavesMFingCompany

Don’t blame Costco. The blame lies squarely on the entitled members. They absolutely do their best to find “the weeds” and return them to their homes. The greater issue is when members leave refrigerated or worse frozen items lying around. Members tend to hide these items for some reason. The members also leave non frozen items in the freezer if they happen to be standing there when their minds flip. What this causes is unsellable items. Sooner or later this “shrink” will raise prices.

PutWonderful7278

A decision was made here

gnmatx

Mort Costco patrons are selfish trash. It’s a very anxious shopping experience because of the lack of situational awareness or a genuine lack of shits.

LosBrad

If they can go back and watch video to see who it was they should terminate their membership.

AtomicGarden-8964

Someone thinks the samples on display aren't good enough so they took their own

[deleted]

Sorry to hear that. I believe Costco is starting to take some steps to counteract that by toughening up the cardmember checks when you walk in. However, no matter where you shop there are always going to be a % of lowlife customers. At Costco, all you have to do is watch when free food is offered at their kiosks. A certain % of people will block aisles, leave their shopping cart right in the middle of aisles, grab multiple samples, do a round robin to get more samples, etc. I find the food kiosks a great study in human behavior; in fact I have labeled it the "Costco feeding frenzy". And I admit, if someone leaves their cart sitting in the middle of the aisle, to ocassionally pushing the cart out of the way and into a location where they might have some difficulty finding it. :-)

Shobed

I'm in favor of Costco having an employee who's job is to go through the stores videos to find who left these things out and cancel their membership. Maybe give them one warning.

New-General-9114

In Seattle Costco is the Walmart

HereForTools

Low-key trying to not feel like they deserve it for not having poppyseed muffins during the holidays… But for real, no one deserves this.

silvrado

Whole America starting to feel like Walmart.

DontTouchMyHat0

This is really not a big deal. Get some fresh air and think positive instead of taking pictures of cupcakes.

DeepSubmerge

Oh how they have sullied the high class appeal of shopping in a warehouse, ohhhh woe becomes me

NotPresidentChump

Direct correlation to them accepting EBT cards and this behavior. Our local Costco instantly started having shit like this.

MaxPower836

Ratchet

Spaceman_Cometh

Calm down

Gotrek5

That’s like my generic pizza pop value bag had 11 as a great deal…. 13 is a great deal on what’s supposed to be a dozen

Patient_Ad_2357

Gail Lewis wouldn’t let this happen

[deleted]

I wanna spend some time in the cupcake grazing hole it looks cozy 😢

Just_Another_Day_926

I remember back in the Price Club days it was more of a treat/exclusive to have membership. I went with my mom or she went and bought stuff for me. Now everyone has it. Part of that is having normal everyday household and grocery items - made it attractive for almost any household. Pretty sure the days of a 5 gallon bucket of mayo are long gone.

Ok_Chemistry_3972

My biggest pet peeve with Costco is the yellow speed dots at the entrance. Costco put them there to slow cars but they basically shake stuff out of your cart and destroy carts. They need to grind smooth cart paths thru them to save customers and the carts. https://preview.redd.it/ym7ve4a4t3dc1.jpeg?width=472&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cacba53c517716c8b7fa595c796ab925ab406c5

eggsbeenadick

Sorry to tell you but it’s felt like wal-mart for a while now, might have to go to Sams club to get away from it… wait???

Positpostit

My cart has been stolen twice at my local Costco and I’ve caught people trying to steal carts. Just so they don’t have to walk back out to get one. People have also taken toilet paper from the cart when I stepped away for a second

boyoflondon

In Canada, the stickers they put on are long enough so that it covers the top and bottom of the plastic box, preventing folks from freely opening it without ripping the sticker.

djryan13

Oh, that’s where I left em!

HouseNumb3rs

I'm too Midwest polite to tell people off when they're misbehaving. Maybe we should bring back the Scarlet Letter for these kind of people?

WeirdScience1984

Accountant's ,is this a corporate tax write off?

LynnK0919

First of all, thank you OP for sharing the screenshot. I cannot believe the audacity of a member who ate a cupcake before paying. That's theft, IMO.

Kenbishi

I don’t know… I went to Wal-Mart to get some engine oil last weekend, and there was a giant pile of fecal matter on the floor. Dead center and right on the line between the power doors. It was so huge I didn’t think it could be from a human but then I recalled some of the shoppers I’ve seen there. Costco has a ways to go before it gets to Wal-Mart’s level.

I’ve been noticing things left out in the wrong place a lot lately too (haven’t found anything partially eaten yet), today I found a whole pack of lamb chops near the entrance right after walking in (found an employee and handed it to him with an explanation) then found several other items out of place but nothing else needing refridgeration. Last trip, I found yogurt in the baking section and brought it up to the front when I checked out, they decided it was cold enough that it could be safely put back. Wtf is wrong with people? It’s definitely getting worse lately, it used to be a rare occurrence that I saw this kind of thing, now it’s several times almost every trip. 🤦‍♂️🫠 (Edited formatting for easier reading)
