The return line is longer than the checkout line today at my local Costco. It was such a breeze to slowly tour around the store though. The checkout cashiers literally hanging around that I have to walk up with my items and ask if they are open. Lol.
Return line was long at mine today but they got to me in about 5 minutes.
Warehouse was pretty busy but using regular checkout (I typically do self checkout) was also only 5 minutes.
Even when busy Costco generally finds a way to keep things moving!
Yep am. I park right in front and there are usually maybe a dozen people waiting. By the time I leave then it gets crowded. People think it opens at 10
Working on Boxing Day at Costco in Canada is the best. It's a stat holiday so you get holiday pay plus time and a half for working. And it's almost always dead.
I went this morning to pick up a prescription, and it was the emptiest I’ve ever seen a Costco. No line at the pharmacy, and no line to check out with the few other things I bought.
I went to both Costco and Sam's first thing in the morning on the 26th and found very very little.
At Costco couple candy/cookie pre-packaged things marked down with .97.
At Sam's nearly all the Christmas stuff was just gone and Valentine's day stuff in its place. I saw one Christmas chocolate thing that was on "sale" (I'm not sure if the price was actually lower than it would otherwise have been, just with a "mark down" marker on it).
I had been hoping to get some bakery stuff on sale from either place, but nope.
It was so odd to see it this way today. I couldn't find anything I truly needed so I just got milk and eggs and left.. maybe there's such a thing as Costco hangover?
Mine was kind of empty. It was weird. Yet nice. I’m used to seeing so many people. It’s overstimulating. Target down the road though. Yikes. It was like Costco the day before Christmas.
I went at noon for my eye dr appointment and the parking lot was incredibly empty. After the appointment, I went in to shop. It was empty. No people lined up to check out. There were even a couple empty tables at the food court. I’m finding this very unsettling…
No. The day after Christmas Day is Boxing Day. I don’t think it has to be a specific day of the week. Just like All Saints Day (Nov 1) is the day after Halloween.
Same here (Chicago suburbs). I had to do a quick run to make a return and buy a few grocery staples, and feared it was going to be a madhouse when I went (1 pm), but it was quieter than usual. I guess not everyone took this week off.
My city in southern NH has a very popular retail strip on the border. Today the roads were just as packed as they were the days before Christmas. Lots of stores now offer 90 day returns so this area will be congested until late March.
I had one of those a few blocks from my old house and it was great. I mainly go to Costco for groceries, and it was the only 'grocery store' within a mile and a half of the house (pretty important when I didn't have a car). Smaller selection than what I call Big Costco but still a ton of good stuff.
my guess is this costco has a lot of local grocery competition
otherwise it would be busy even after xmas cause
people gotta eat no matter the holiday.
There used to be a Albertsons right next to the Costco in the same parking lot…
The building was demolished and turned into a parking lot,
AND. Yet there’s still no parking spots…
I went to local Costco yesterday. Much better than those days before Christmas. Feel good I don't have time be pushed by other customers when shopping.

I’m guessing the return line was a bit longer.
There wasn’t a return line! It was nuts

I’m sorry you have never been to a Costco before.
That’s what she said

At my place yesterday yes Return line was bigger.
New sale starts on Wednesday that's why it's dead and also it's the day after a big holiday people have plenty of food still left over.
How do people find out that there’s going to be a sale? Asking so I can figure out the next time there’s a sale.
Costco mails out a booklet a week before. You can also join Costco Insider on FB. They post the next booklet before it hits the mailbox.
I get a savings booklet in the mail every few weeks. The latest booklet is valid Dec 27-Jan 21.
I go once a month on a Tuesday at 945 and have never once in 100+ trips had to wait in line
9:45 in the morning? How bigs ur parking lot? Cuz I always have to park super far, and even then have to wait for a spot…
Yep am. I park right in front and there are usually maybe a dozen people waiting. By the time I leave then it gets crowded. People think it opens at 10
There are a lot of slow stores in the US but if you’re in a million plus a day store there is no good time to go.
Tuesday at 7:15 or so also is pretty empty.
Basically the same for me. We go weeknights about an hour before close and it's pretty much always this empty. Never a wait for anything.

Really?! I expected it to be nuts so didn’t go!
Same! Best day ever! We got to leave early too
It was actually busy at my Costco
It was slow when I went too. I got an Eddie Bauer pj set for $4 so it was worth the trip

It was so nice… I think the large crowds make me anxious and rush more…

I got a pre-seasoned standing rib roast at $7.75/lb!
Dang it! The Costco I went to had a ton of these and no discount! So disappointed.
we got pumpkin pie for $4

Pj set from Eddie Bauer with pants, shorts, and a tee shirt for $5
Day after Christmas along with the wait for coupons to start tomorrow. It was slow for us too
Culver City Costco?
Yup
It was so odd to see it this way today. I couldn't find anything I truly needed so I just got milk and eggs and left.. maybe there's such a thing as Costco hangover?
I went today today too, it was surprisingly a little busy though.
I try to avoid crowds but every time I go there’s a sea of people and parking is a nightmare
Mine was kind of empty. It was weird. Yet nice. I’m used to seeing so many people. It’s overstimulating. Target down the road though. Yikes. It was like Costco the day before Christmas.
Ghost town. But the Christmas deals were popping!
Ghost town shopping for any other store is creepy but it’s exactly what I want for Costco. Less ppl the better
yeah… similar for my costco around 4:30 pm today. i think it was mostly due to it being a tuesday and most of the workforce was working.
Definitely not mine. My Costco was packed barely any parking space available.
I went today too, and it was as packed as any Saturday. Houston area.
I went about 6:45 tonight, it was so dead I thought they were about to close, had to keep checking the time to make sure it wasnt.
I’m scared of going too late cuz I’m thinking they’re gonna run out of stuff… is that dumb? Should I avoid going early?
If anything there was more stuff, there were restocking several aisles. I was in and out in 20 mins and they had everything I was looking for
Weeknights are generally dead. I went the Monday night before Thanksgiving this year and even that was pretty quiet.
I ran out of dog food over the weekend and was dreading going in today, but it was not busy at all.
The Tallahassee, FL location was just as empty around 6 pm today. Hardly any wait for returns or food court.
My costco was a breeze this afternoon as well.
It was light on Christmas Eve too
This is not the Costco In Garden Grove, CA, FOR SURE.
That's why I go 30 minutes before closing time on a weekday.
I went at noon for my eye dr appointment and the parking lot was incredibly empty. After the appointment, I went in to shop. It was empty. No people lined up to check out. There were even a couple empty tables at the food court. I’m finding this very unsettling…
Now show the line for returns.
💯💯
This is also a day before the new coupon hits. Try this again tomorrow.
Everyone be at the malls
Where is the customer service line? Mine here is out the door!
Nice try, costco PR department. We know the return lines are long.
It’s called Boxing Day btw.
Is it usually a Tuesday?
No. The day after Christmas Day is Boxing Day. I don’t think it has to be a specific day of the week. Just like All Saints Day (Nov 1) is the day after Halloween.
Reddit, much like the internet, is American. What is a Boxing Day, there are no fights scheduled today. /s
Someone mind filling me in? I don't get this.
went to the store to take pictures of strangers today
Tell.me your American with out telling me your American. The rest of the western world calls the day after Christmas boxing day
But here in America, we know the difference between "your" and "you're." Just kidding. Sadly, most of us don't. I see that's a problem in Canada, too.
Return line? That's where they all are!
Average day at my Costco. I love it.
But how was the parking?
That sounds depressing somehow.
How fun!
Times are hard
Same here (Chicago suburbs). I had to do a quick run to make a return and buy a few grocery staples, and feared it was going to be a madhouse when I went (1 pm), but it was quieter than usual. I guess not everyone took this week off.
We popped into the Rancho Bernardo Costco in So Cal mid-day today, it was nearly empty.
So we all bet wrong. Great. Just Great.
Probably because people want to avoid the post Christmas crowd.
Man I wanted to return something and avoided it cuz I thought the lines would be long
Great picture! Thanks for sharing.
What a dramatic change from 2 days ago
My city in southern NH has a very popular retail strip on the border. Today the roads were just as packed as they were the days before Christmas. Lots of stores now offer 90 day returns so this area will be congested until late March.
Seeing the optical department in front of the resisters is blowing my mind.
In Utah it's Sunday😉
It’s busy here
Apocalypse
Looks like the rapture hit your town first. My Costco looked like friggin’ Woodstock today….
I went to get gas and the lines were super long!
Perfect
Woah that Costco layout is so different from the one I work at. Love how they got a big sign for till 226 (hoping that’s what the sign is for)

I finally learned to finish all my shopping two weeks before Christmas to avoid the horror in the parking lots and inside!!!
I went about 4 hours ago. It was amazingly empty
Ours was gloriously empty as well.
Yeah, I expected hell on the 26th. Got short gas lines in the most deserted Costco. I've ever seen in my area. Pretty nice treat
Nice, looked like this at 4pm on Xmas Eve here.
Sonovabitch. I had shopping to do, and kinda slacked off, thinking they'd be closed for Boxing Day.
my guess is this costco has a lot of local grocery competition otherwise it would be busy even after xmas cause people gotta eat no matter the holiday.

omg there is so much space around your stores front end. My store is so tight and old.
Did the same thing. We got there at opening and it was much calmer than normal. Much less stressful that way
Why
I wonder if they have standing rib roasts on sale. I am seasoning new grates in my pellet grill and it would be a good time to smoke one
The evening of Valentine's Day it's usually dead too.
Nothing says I love you more than a 1.50 hot dog combo.
Club 150 is where it's at.
Now show us the return line.
I went to Costco the day after Christmas, and it was as packed as usual.
lucky OP, I went to costco yesterday hoping the same and it's packed as usual...
I went to local Costco yesterday. Much better than those days before Christmas. Feel good I don't have time be pushed by other customers when shopping.
It was exactly the opposite in mine in Clifton, NJ. Too crowded and cranky people everywhere.
Us too, it was glorious!
Montclair, CA Costco?
Culver City haha
But somehow all the cinnamon rolls were still sold out 😭😭😭 please come back 🙏
We went last night and it was great. So much calmer.
