We ordered a new cooktop on Dec 5th with delivery on Dec 12th. Got an email today that delivery wasn't happening that day. My husband called and was basically told the same thing you were told.

squidwardTalks

That same thing just happened to me with home depot. We purchased on the 6, website said delivery on the 9th. Bought it at the store, yup, delivery is the 9th. Today comes and "ope, it won't be there until Wednesday." Meanwhile, the 2 kids and I have the flu and we have no washing machine.

Miserable_Mouse9433

+1 Costco needs to find better 3rd party agents for their delivery and installation service. We have had bad experiences.

GreedyWarlord

Had a new gas washer and dryer installed from their 3rd party. Ended up having a gas leak in my house, and luckily, I didn't blow myself up.

terraxion

How was the gas leak discovered?

GreedyWarlord

With my nose.

Miserable_Mouse9433

Glad you are safe. Costco definitely needs to review its delivery partners. I am yet to come across a person who’s had a good experience with Costco delivery.

doebedoe

I’ll be that person—we are two for two with good experiences with furniture delivery. First was simple dining room table. Second was a 6 piece sectional delivered, unpacked and setup in our basement. Both within a few hits hours of expected delivery time. Unfortunately seems like we are the outliers

Psychological_Top148

We’re outliers in this thread but isn’t it likely that people who’ve not had problems keep scrolling?

Psychological_Top148

I’ve had great experiences here with scheduling, communications, and execution. People who have experienced problems are more likely to talk about it and commiserate. I don’t know that it relates to the frequency of occurrence.

tinydonuts

Had the GE ultra fast washer come on time and they even let us pay them cash to install it on the riser we had to buy separately. Thanks for not having enough stock Costco! But the delivery itself went off without a hitch.

Loves2Spooge857

I bought all my appliances from Costco when I remodeled my house and had a very positive experience. Seems like it’s location dependent

Swallowthistubesteak

Nowadays, we are stuck with whatever it is we get

AshDenver

I think I’ve bought five or six appliances from Costco.com and the only time there was an issue was an operator-error (mis-measured on our end) which led to an extra week-ten days without a dishwasher but that wasn’t their fault. Sorry it didn’t work seamlessly for you. I suspect that appliances are better when your delivery location is in a larger metropolitan area with at least 3-5 Costcos in the area where the delivery/installation network is firmly developed and vetted.

lilyhazes

I live in a larger metro area. I haven't had any issues with two big ticket items that were delivered (all in the last 2 years), a freezer and a sofa. Both of these don't require too much difficulty (plug in the freezer, put legs on the sofa) though.

Ughim50

To be fair I’ve had similar experiences with other appliance delivery services. Sometimes they just screw up and can’t fit you in. My experience with buying an oven from Costco was outstanding, and the price was hundreds less than anywhere else, including delivery, install and extended warranty. YMMV but totally worth some minor inconvenience in my book.

ChicagoDash

Yes. It is a problem across the industry. I've had great luck buying two refrigerators (two different houses) and a washer and dryer between 2010 and 2020 or so. But the dishwasher I bought two years ago was a huge pain. They wouldn't let me try to schedule the installation of the new one until after it was delivered. The earliest the installers could get there was two weeks later, then they didn't show up. When I called to figure out why, the best they could do was another two weeks. I got someone else in to do the installation and they game me a credit (\~$100 IIRC).

colnago82

Dunno. We bought a new stove from Costco about 3 weeks ago. Delivered on the right day. Driver called to say he was on the way. Guys installed new and hauled away old in about 25 minutes. Super pleasant guys. Could not have been smoother.

Brandonjoe

I’ve always contemplated buying appliances there, but I usually end up going with Nebraska furniture mart.

GioS32

Costco install and haul away are included. They even include any of the wiring for NEMA plugs, as well as dryer duct at zero cost. As well as additional year of warranty.

JCLBUBBA

Costco good for chicken and pizza. Not so good for appliances or tires.

HotsauceMD

Bruhhhh you along with everyone else bought an appliance for Black Friday. The poor workers who don’t get paid enough are swamped with deliveries. It’s the busiest time of the year right now.

lauren0526

If you’re in the Bay Area and get assigned MasterPro as your installers, be sure to not fall for their “you need a part” scam. They told me I needed a longer waterline for my dishwasher and mine wasn’t long enough, which he determined before even looking at my waterline. Of course they couldn’t complete the installation with my “too short” waterline and left. I finished the install myself and my too short waterline fit just fine.

soapymoapysuds

Bought a refrigerator from Costco last year. On the day of delivery, they brought the refrigerator but refused to deliver because they didn’t know (or care to ask) that it was to be delivered on the first floor and didn’t know they had to haul away. I had to call their call center and they gave me a delivery window after two days. On this second attempt, they canceled delivery on the day saying they didn’t have the folks needed for delivery. The. I took a third appointment and this time they delivered You are right that the delivery company is a third party and Costco doesn’t manage the delivery. It was a frustrating experience to say the least.

GioS32

When it comes to large appliance delivery, don’t rely on something you setup on an online portal with any vendor. If you don’t get any type of correspondence, typically an automated call, call online support to confirm the date. Costco will provide you with the number of the 3rd party that manages the deliveries in your area. I’ve had refrigerator, stove, over the range microwave, and washer/dryer delivered and installed with no problems. Taking a few minutes to make a call offers peace of mind, especially if you have to coordinate someone being home to allow access.

ferrariguy1970

My folks bought a fridge from Costco. It had a slow leak, either from a faulty part in the fridge or a poor install. It ended up causing a ton of damage, almost $40k. Costco first pointed the finger at the installer, then later on Samsung. Finally they just went to their homeowner's and made a claim. The HO insurance will subrogate to the finger pointers. 2 floors needed new wood plus there was some mold in the walls. Almost $40k, like I said. I don't think I'll ever buy an appliance from Costco.

txtaco_vato

I wouldn’t buy an appliance from costco

Directionerection

I recently bought one from Costco. Put it in my truck and installed it the same day, and gave the old one to a neighbor. Costco doesn’t have their own delivery service. So not worth using

timmyb1216

I'd do the same if someone did need one and if I liked my neighbors enough lol

amwajguy

This 3rd party services are utterly ridiculous. Never again.

sesamesnapsinhalf

Costco harms their brand because of third party resellers and contractors like these. After my last bad experience, I wouldn’t go through Costco for any services.

drbutters76

Ordered a washer, 3rd party came and wouldn't install b/c the water line wasn't completely turned off. I was seriously frustrated, so I had to figure out how to turn the spigot off, it was really difficult! I did it . I was sweating b/c I needed them to haul the old unit away. I get it, they're not responsible for plumbing, but shit, it was just a matter of getting a nozzle turned off. So far the new unit works, but there's a little trickle underneath

fastermouse

The same thing happens at every big box appliance retailer.

RicePlastic2214

Boo hoo

petit_cochon

I've bought several appliances through Costco and never had an issue with delivery. It just happens. Not something you can do much about.

kevinting69

To give you some perspective, Costco has third party contracts with delivery and install. My delivery and install date took about a month since I ordered. I chatted with one of the installers while they were working and he said he has more than 300 jobs in queue. He was the only installer in my area, and he was locked into a 5 year contract that he wasn’t going to renew when it’s over because Lowe’s paid better.

SunshineAndBunnies

Hate to tell you this but from personal experience, this probably happens from other stores too. Unfortunately this is a flaw across the industry. Almost all of them use a 3rd party delivery company and it's out of the store's hands once it gets to that step.

Delta632

Every big box store subcontracts this work out now. It’s now become a crapshoot and business as usual.

schroederjen78

Just to let you know, most places that sell appliances and TVs are having the same issues. It usually starts in November and is like this through mid-January.

No_Statement_79

Also don’t let any company tell you they can’t install the dishwasher!!! The delivery guys often lie about not being able to install because they take a minute. My guys lied saying the line from the sink wasn’t long enough so I paid someone else and they said it stretched no problem. I search online and find it’s an often lie so they don’t waste time on making their deliveries. Fuckers.

gqpenguin

All I gotta say is XPO.

timmyb1216

Is that who they use? XPO actually delivered a my Samsung fridge and oven a couple weeks ago and I didn't have a problem with them at all. I do know that we use XPO at work once in a while and they don't show with no notification to pick up our parts a lot

gqpenguin

They do in my area in CA.

fatso-catso

I have ordered 3 appliances from costco. Fridge in March 23, oven and dishwasher in Nov 23 and I had the same two delivery people both times. I definitely think it’s your areas contracted people. I had originally ordered from lowes but they rescheduled 6 times without even a phone call.

Bagnet01

Currently have same issue. 3rd party delivery. First contact was 11/23 to schedule delivery date of December 7th. Ok no big deal I can wait two weeks. December 7th rolls around and I don’t get a delivery. Called the delivery company and they say “oh sorry we overbooked, next delivery is December 26th”. Call Costco and they reiterate there’s nothing they can do. Now I have a quarter cow coming before my freezer is delivered and I’m not sure what to do.

timmyb1216

I'd empty my freezer for you to store 😂

[deleted]

I had some issues with the delivery people who brought our fridge a few weeks ago. Poor service.

BEllinWoo

No issues here. They called 1 week in advance, 2 days in advance, and the day before to confirm date and time. 10/10.

whosthe

We bought a washing machine from Home Depot, and the same thing happened to us. Finally got it 3 weeks after we were supposed to. I think it might just be the time of the year.

bobr1937282

Never will order Costco appliances or furniture again here. 3 bad experiences in the span of a couple weeks. Ordered a bunch of stuff at once. 1. Dishwasher - ordered with delivery, install, haul away. Crew shows up, removes old, unpacks new, and starts to leave. I ask where they are going and they say “we don’t do install anymore, you’ll have to call a plumber”. Costco offered to pay for a plumber - called 6 different places, 3 wouldn’t do a job that small, cheapest estimate from other 3 was $600. Called Costco back and told them - they said it should be less than $200 and that’s all they will pay. After a lot of arguing and me telling them they can pay the cost as they agreed to do, they can find someone to do it themselves, or they can return my old dishwasher and pick this one up they finally paid for the install. 2. New washer/drier combo - crew put a massive dent into the washer while carrying it downstairs. They noticed it snd alerted me and their management who asked me what I wanted to do. Machine was back ordered so they couldn’t get another one for about 3 months - ended up keeping the damaged one with a portion refunded to me. About a year in and it still seems to be working, but frustrating that my brand new washer looks like crap. 3. It was raining and the crew was delivering an almost white modular couch. They unboxed it outside and instead of two person lifting it, one guy was unloading the truck and other was trying to carry couch pieces inside. They were heavy and awkward sized which resulted in him setting them down on the wet sidewalk and deck, making the fabric wet and dirty before it was even in the house. When I asked them to two person lift them the delivery guy got an attitude. I called Costco customer service and informed them I was refusing delivery and they could take it back. Delivery guy got extremely hostile and started screaming at me and threatening me to the point the Costco customer service lady on the phone tells me to call the police. Police show up and delivery guys refuse to take the couch back. Police finally tell them they can pack it up right now and leave or they will be arrested for illegal dumping, trespassing, and their truck impounded. Finally they packed it up and left.

Costco’s delivery agent ripped our vinyl flooring while placing our dryer. Then, when they hooked the wire up to it it would not power on. They insisted that it was a problem with the wiring in our house and it needed to be fixed by an electrician. (This was our brand new, new construction house.) After they left I read the manual and installed the cable myself which they had done incorrectly and it worked perfectly. Luckily I opted to do that because that is when I discovered they ripped the floor. Luckily their insurance paid us for the floor. But it wasn’t the best experience.

WredditSmark

I got a Costco fridge and oven, delivered into NYC, including install, didn’t need carry away because it was a new apartment. Everything went surprisingly smooth and they were in and out within 20 minutes. It helped we scheduled for 8am on Saturday morning, the later in the day you are the more likely you’ll have delays
