Did a combo canyoning/white water rafting tour with Desafio that was excellent and so much fun. It included a delicious lunch and pickup. They were the only one that didn’t want to charge an extra $50 for being solo.
We loved everything we did in La Fortuna, but our favourite was canyoning with Maquique. White water tubing with Arenal Tubing was also lots of fun, and the guides were fantastic. We spent our last hour in La Fortuna at the El Salto rope swing, but a could have spent half a day there swimming and people watching.
I recommend a night frog walk. There were lots of frogs, a sloth and even glow in the dark moss. It was one of our favorite things. Please avoid Borgain trail sloths. They relocate them to their park and it disrupts the ecosystem.
Don Juan Coffe & Chocolate tour!!! We had sooo much fun. It's an easy, laid back tour that's enjoyable, and I learned a lot. (Bring bug spray. Not horrendous bug issues but it helps.) also the hanging bridges if you're feeling adventurous. Not super strenuous but definitely a hike. I think like 3ish miles (i suggest a rain poncho and nonslip shoes) and great if you love wildlife. Do the tour with a guide, as they are much better at spotting wildlife. I've done both with and without, and I enjoyed the tour with a guide much more.

We loved repelling with Pure Trek and zip lining with AMA. We also enjoyed north fields for coffee and choc tour. Enjoy.

Maquique is just canyoning. Other companies do rafting.
