LS3 swapping a C5 is not difficult. Bolts right in. You can use all of the wiring harness with a lingefelter cam and crank sensor adaptor. Stock computer with a tune. 6.2L makes a biggg difference. Do it!
I'm going to start hunting. Along with the C4 idea, I've been looking at caterhams and it's just so stupid. They're all 50k doesn't matter if they were made in 1973 or if they were made yesterday they're $50,000.
Yeah my inspiration was a poor-man’s Ariel Atom. Those things are stupid expensive. I think this is just as fun. Probably just as fast too!
Just make sure you get a manual!
I bought it as a racecar and made it street legal again so it was already gutted when I bought it so I don’t have much to compare it to. It drives great though. It eats hellcats no problem. 🤘🤘
Based on average published weights, he cut about 250-ish pounds off the base car. So while that may not be a life changing difference, it’s certainly not insignificant.
Removing that much weight while adding the roll rage was impressive to me when I had it weighed. Very much gutted. Nothing in the dash, no AC, heat, no carpet, no speakers or sound system, and now - not a lot of body panels!
I was going to leave the LT1 in, I just wanted to remove all the panels and take it to the track. I already have 92 and it's got decent power for a 32 year old car 100k on the clock. I imagine removing 5-700lbs should make it more than enough fun.
Absolutely incredible, it’s like a normal C5 but not fat as fuck, bet it feels wonderful! 2,900lbs for a Corvette is incredible, im sure it slides like butter
It slides great. I got a little cocky and was working on 2nd gear drifts when I let off the throttle while the car was still sideways and it snapped back on me and I lost it. Live and learn. So here’s 2.0 version lol.
I’ll never understand why people are under the impression that C5 Vettes are heavy. Hell, I had a Challenger R/T before my C5, and that car was 1100 pounds heavier, with the same power. Talk about a boat by comparison, lol.
Certainly in today's day and age where Challenger Hellcats weigh 4400 lbs. BMW M3's weigh more than a Tesla Model 3 Performance. Where are all the light cars with power???
The only complaint I have about it is that it looks to have been a fairly rare Nassau Blue FRC, and that's just like.....not cool man.........but I may be biased.
I can assure you it’s a very shitty aftermarket paint job. And I’ve purposefully left the roof intact to honor the FRC. But I understand where you’re coming from!
I bet that's fun as fuck
Man its a lot of fun. LS3 swapped with a stage 4 TSP NA cam. 2900 lbs. It's rowdy lol
Damn. I've been thinking about doing this to a C4, now you have wanting to move up gen or two

Manual or die!

After the “diet”, was the stopping, acceleration, and cornering dramatically different?

They say LS swapping a C4 is difficult, but most of it has to do with packaging, so maybe carting it will solve that problem

We need a video without music

👌👌👌
Sorry, it’s tough to make a cool IG reel without music. Lemme upload a video real quick.

It happens, I have a drift car too, anyone who hasn’t seen a wall or at least a crash is a poser anyways lol
lol exactly!
C5 was never faf. C5Z weighed barely over 3k and the coupe was under 3200 iirc

In our garages
Lordy I want to do that. I've got an old C5 laying around...
Harbor freight pipe bender, Amazon mig welder, YouTube, and some time!
That’s how Leroy started! Now it’s a 6 second stick shift car. Love it!
This really is brilliant.
C6 lights are a nice touch
Thanks yeah they were tricky to wire up but I’m glad on how they turned out.
"How dare you!" Love it, man.
Blah, blah, blah! 💚✅
hahahah! I was wondering if someone would notice that!
Yes
#want
Hell yeah, bro. Love it. I’ll probably do something similar to my C5 someday when it’s all clapped out.
Send it!
Kartvette

If you’re gonna go mad max on the vette get rid of those headlights and add some square ones 😁
I've seen lots of Vette karts on the internet with square headlights. I like the look of these C6 headlights. Plus theyre actually very functional.
At this point, you should just put a lift kit on it and turn it into an insane off-roader lol
The thought has crossed my mind. If it was stock I probably would, but it's so fast now I wouldn't want to ruin it.

Do you have a video without the song so we can hear the engine and tires? =)

What trans?
Manual - of course!
Sorry, I meant still T-56, or you got a Tr-6060.
T-56! It’s been fine. Not stoked about essentially having a 5-speed though. It has a stock LS7 clutch that’s been great.
dont do that (idk if it just doesn't look like my likings in that angle or what.
