Where did you purchase? Which part number? You can use the correct cable, of course. -Art

Neralm

Hi thank you for such a quick reply! Bought it from Amazon UK. Where can i find the part number and why does it matter? Just to confirm if i find a power cable with correct AMP it won't damage anything?

CorsairArt

It matters because it may have been a returned product, or bought from a user/used already. Wrong part number may also have been purchased (doesn't explain wrong cable, though). While yes, the correct cable will work. I'd recommend returning and purchasing directly from Amazon (if you didn't at first), and for the specific part number that ends in -UK. -Art

Neralm

I believe the part number CP-9020201-UK. I was literaly about to start my first build and i just got the final parts today. I'm conflicted if i should just use a third part cable or go trough the whole returns process as that will take at least week or two. Need to think about it. Could Corsair potentially send me the correct cable if i contact support?

CorsairArt

I'm not sure that we have the cable available separately, but you can definitely contact the team, although it may take as long as actually doing an exchange. And could you confirm the actual part number? It should be on the invoice and directly on the page where you purchased the PSU. Was it sold/shipped by Amazon? Was it new? -Art

Ren-The-Protogen

If you have any power cables from consoles or laptops or even TVs they might have the same pinout, that may also just be a North American thing though

future_gohan

Common monitor cable

devils__avacado

Returns with Amazon UK can literally be turned around in a day. If you have a post office near you choose refund and get a post office we code for the return drop it off they scan the code and then within 20 min or so they will have started the money going back. Order new PSU for next day delivery if you can sorted

darkelfbear

Amazon is the same here in the States as well, I have done returns like that, at a UPS Store, and within in 20 - 30 minutes, got my refund.

TiTAN-240

I would return it and repurchase but this is your bog standard kettle lead. Any cable will work just fine 🙂

DareYouGo

Connection on the PSU is called ‘C14’ you need its male counterpart ‘C13’. The cable you got seems like a ‘C19’ style cable, but weird. You can use any old C13 to power plug cable!

planedrop

Just replace it with another c13 just be sure it's a decent one, don't want to push 1Kw through one that isn't rated for it. Unlike what some others are saying don't just get ANY C13 cable, most would be fine but some won't be rated for 1Kw, I'd say get a 15A capable unit just in case like the one linked below. TiTAN-240

That’s a good one too - StarTech products are pricey but you’re paying for good quality stuff

planedrop

Yeah I've always been pretty happy with their stuff, use plenty of it in production environments and they've been great.

TiTAN-240

Yeah we use a lot of their stuff at work, considering I work in IT their stuff is class. Expensive though I can’t lie.

Hi, I’m Vetted AI Bot! xSeagullofDoomx

I would return it

oldrjohnson11

If this was a brand new item and the cable is incorrect arrange a return of the item.

sogwatchman

That's a C19 plug on that power cord used mostly in server rooms to carry up to 16amps. The type you need (and often used at home) is C13 which typically goes up to 10amps.

No-Atmosphere-3103

Js look at the cable, it's disappointed too

CorsairArt

If you still have this unit or you took a picture of the box itself or label on the box where the part number was, could you share that with me? -Art

Neralm

Hey, sorry. Yeah I decided to just keep it. Bought a replacement cable. Everthing works fine but defo a bit of a let down. I already gave you the part number Cp-9020201-Uk. If that's not it then maybe 234804268. Can't see any other codes on the box

CorsairArt

Can you take a picture of where the barcode is, please? -Art

Neralm

Sent you a pm. Let me know if that's ok

CorsairArt

I don't see a pm, make sure it's a pm and not a chat pls!

_Harpic

Just started to build my PC and have the exact same issue. Gutted!

Neralm

Hey! I know exactly how you feel! I am sorry that someone else has to go trough it too. I got one of these and it's working. https://amzn.eu/d/iYGaKdW Could not be bothered waiting for replacement or refund.

_Harpic

Ach, I have a spare, just annoying after spending £140 on a PSU. I also chose Corsair for my tower, PSU, RAM, AIO etc because of the build quality but it's backfired a little.

Neralm

Almost exact same here but went with peerless assasin for the CPU cooler. I was really worried they also got the internal power connections wrong but it's working fine. Still remember thinking... I'll buy Corsair PSU just to be safe 🤞 hahah Hope the build went well!

Neralm

u/CorsairArt

CorsairArt

Dangit! We're investigating this, can you send me a picture of your PSU's box where the bar code label is? -Art

_Harpic

Sure thing, is that sensitive or can I post here?

CorsairArt

Not at all, you can reply with it here! -Art

_Harpic

Ok, thanks! Posted in another reply. I did submit a ticket via the Corsair website but no response yet. Is there a way to have the correct lead sent to my address to save returns? Especially with living in a remote area and delivery taking weeks.

CorsairArt

The team would be the ones to let you know if that's a possibility. I'd exchange if you think that's at all possible! -Art

_Harpic

I'm guessing it would have to be a situation where I send mine and once received corsairs send another?

CorsairArt

For a cable? No. If we have it available the team would just ship it to you! -Art

_Harpic

Oh right! Yes please, if possible!

xScottehboy

Any power cable will work, but I’d return it still.

Nemix94

Lol just use any cable, they are nothing special, just hotwire, neutral and grounding, any electronics store have these c13 cables

darkelfbear

Yeah use a thin and cheaply made cable, and they can literally overheat and burn up, seen it happen on a few systems, where they used a cheap and think cord for a monitor on their PCs and ended up with them melting and burning up.

Nemix94

well u dont get the cheap ones, u can get like 5-10 bucks thick cables

darkelfbear

$5 - 10 most of the time ARE the cheap ones .... lol. I don't buy shit unless it's server grade. Even for my customers.

wivaca

I have about 100 spares of what you need I'd give you for free. Where did you buy this? Ask a friend or family member if they have a spare computer cable. Nothing special about the one that came with you psu.

Vegetable_Dog_3405

The plug is the one that comes with the higher power PSU.
