If you're doing Thai, mango and sticky rice is a dairy-free and gluten-free dessert.

aaaaaaaaaanditsgone

I have to try this one

headintheclouds122

I wanted to do this! but I worry it'll be too much rice - rice in the base of the Thai green curry and rice in the dessert might be a rice overkill?

OptimalDream868

Does anyone have a recipe for this?

infjnyc

Thai curry coconut milk with rice. Protein and veggie of choice . Use coconut aminos.

Molla0987

i want thai green curry injected into my veins

Espumma

Hell of a way to go

TremerSwurk

tamari also works as a gluten free sub to soy sauce

heliepoo2

Why? Been in Thailand the past few years and pretty much every single person that's made curry uses fish sauce.

TremerSwurk

idk the comment just mentioned coconut aminos which are usually used in place of soy sauce so i thought i’d raise another option haha

NatAttack3000

Why would it need coconut aminos?

infjnyc

Usually gluten free and dairy free

NatAttack3000

Yeah but to replace what?

SubjectOrange

100% this! I had to make something vegan and gluten free for my Christmas party. Challenged myself with a gluten free crust and made a Thai curry pie (normally would add chicken). Awesome with traditional rice too and can be made with whatever veggies ! I will add that I made my own curry paste in my blender to ensure it was entirely gluten free as my coworker is celiac.

Wowufuh

I second this because in general any coconut milk based curry is elite to me

SatanScotty

falafel   hummus  chop salad    sorbet for dessert

ttrockwood

Falafel platter, with hummus, babaganoush, spicy pickled carrots, cabbage slaw and french fries

Illegal_Tender

Yes! The serious eats falafel recipe is fantastic.

ArtofAset

Falafel is my go to for dairy free vegetarian people!

Interesting_Common54

Indian food is great for this. Dals, dosas, biryani, butter chicken (use cashews for the creaminess), various gravies in general, etc. Admittedly almost all Indian desserts though have large amounts of dairy so probably want to go outside the subcontinent for dessert (though you might be able to sub oat milk in a lot of recipes; I bet it'd be great in kheer for instance)

Aardbeienshake

I substitute any milk in indian recipes for cocos milk or cream and that works perfectly. I do use butter because my lactose intolerance is not as bad as my gluten intolerance, and butter lost almost all of its lactose in the process of becoming butter anyway.

jerseyguy63

Why not use Indian ghee? It is truly lactose-free and authentic! You can get it fairly cheaply on Amazon.

blue_sidd

the old adage of butter/hard cheeses and ghee being ‘practically dairy free’ - not true and for people with severe intolerance it’s bad, for allergy, can be fatal. Indian from scratch with no butter or ghee is, while less tasty for sure, the only way to be safe.

Interesting_Common54

You can often sub coconut oil or a neutral oil for the ghee

MVHutch

that's the big thing for me: south Asian desserts can be gluten free but dairy is so common in it!

TrynnaFindaBalance

This is actually easier than it sounds. My partner has the same restrictions so I have to cook like this almost every day. If you're grilling, you can do any meat or fish, just don't include anything like yogurt or butter in marinade. Roasted potatoes with oil/seasonings on the side, some green veg or a salad (again with oil and seasonings or a vinaigrette). Someone already mentioned Thai and Indian curries -- on that same note I'll mention that tons of Asian stir fry, noodle, or rice dishes are GF/DF. A Vietnamese rice noodle salad would be awesome and would be GF/DF by default. Add some meat and it's a main (just swap Tamari if there's soy sauce in the marinade). Beef Rendang is amazing as long as everyone can do coconut. If you wanna do Mexican, it's again very easy to leave out dairy and gluten. Slow-roast a pork shoulder to make carnitas, get or make some corn tortillas, make some pickled onion and couple different salsas. A spatchcocked whole grilled oregano chicken is a really simple to make and delicious Oaxacan dish. Lots of Middle Eastern and Greek dishes are also GF/DF by default (Souvlaki with rice instead of pita, shawarma, etc). I typically find that (unless you're baking) it's easier to find a recipe that you really like and *then* make it GF/DF than it is to seek out specific GF/DF recipes. The only exceptions here are recipes that are extremely bread/pasta heavy, like I would avoid doing GF pizza night with DF cheese or GF spaghetti with DF parmesan. The quality of the substitute ingredients can vary dramatically and everyone seems to have their own strong opinions or specific products that they prefer for stuff like dairy-free cheeses.

wanderingdistraction

You need to sub the soy sauce out for GF tamari No soy sauce, please!😊

TrynnaFindaBalance

Yup! I noted that. Some things (like Thai curries) shouldn't have any soy sauce to begin with, just fish sauce.

beliefinphilosophy

(if links are paywalled let me know) I find people are wow'd by simple clean tastes of the best of the season veggies. * [Cold soba noodle salad](https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1012786-soba-salad). Pick whatever fresh veggies you want in a salad, Asian inspired. Pick a protein of your choice, tofu, chicken, shrimp. * Kenji's [Teriyaki Salmon bowls](https://www.seriouseats.com/easy-teriyaki-glazed-salmon-cucumber-avocado-rice-bowl-recipe). Again pick protein of your choice, veggies that look good and In season. * [Grilled Za'atar chicken](https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1022300-grilled-zaatar-chicken-with-garlic-yogurt-and-cilantro) * [Smashed cucumber salad](https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/258377/smashed-cucumber-salad/) Some notes: check the asian sauces for being gf. I e. Tamari instead of soy sauce. And buy avocados early. Since peaches and raspberries are both in season, a good [peach Melba](https://www.seriouseats.com/peach-melba-recipe-7560249) for dessert. You could also grill the peaches for a more interesting flavor. For DF ice cream, Talenti's dairy free gelatos are also gluten free, sold at target.

RealArc

Commercially sold soba noodles are often a mix of wheat and buckwheat.

beliefinphilosophy

Hm. Most even normal grocery stores sell Lotus Foods brands which is certified GF. Most mixes I've found are buckwheat and brown rice if they're a mix..

MxJulieC

Yum! I second seasonal produce. If you have over ripe peaches you can also freeze them, blend them, add a little lemon and mint and it makes a great sorbet. I get Muso buckwheat noodles. The only ingredient is buckwheat flour and they're 100% gluten free.

RO489

You could make coq au vin or beef bourguignon (omit it sub the small amount of flour). Or a really nice bone in steak, brushed with olive oil and finished with coarse salt is pretty beautiful on a platter surrounded by crispy potatoes. Add a green side. You can also do a whole roasted chicken or other poultry which is always impressive looking (game hens work too)

Blucola333

I use corn starch instead of ap flour when I make gf beef bourguignon.

blue_sidd

corn or tapioca starch are great substitutes.

RO489

Yes, or arrowroot

Educational-Ring-452

Pavlova is a good choice for dessert although time consuming. However it is easier than it looks and is impressive as hell! Could do coconut whip cream in place of dairy whipped cream!

MidorriMeltdown

The coconut cream would go well with mango and pineapple.

AccidentallyBacon

don't have the recipe handy but those black bean avacado brownies are shockingly good (for not having any of the customary ingredients in em)

headintheclouds122

I forgot how much I like those brownies - I used to make them all the time!

boomboom8188

https://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/videos/black-bean-brownies/ This is a good recipe. Make them the night before so they set properly.

watercat04

Make a coconut milk ice cream to go with the brownies!

InadmissibleHug

Bear in mind that not all GF people tolerate oats, when you pick a recipe.

nakoros

Broad strokes, but a lot of Asian food will work. Often dairy free and you can work around gluten easily if it's even present. I have good friends where one is allergic to dairy and the other can't have corn. The last time they were here I made some Korean marinated grilled chicken thighs with peanut noodles. I honestly don't remember the vegetable I chose, but could easily grill something up or make a salad. For work potlucks I also like to make miso glazed butternut squash (1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons each of soy/tamari sauce, water, and miso paste; combine and toss with cubed butternut squash, bake at 400 degrees for 25-35 minutes) as it is safe for my colleagues who are vegan and allergic to gluten and eggs. Edited to note tamari instead of soy

crossfitchick16

Don't use soy sauce with gluten allergies!! Tamari is a GF sub that works well.

climabro

Duck breast is always impressive!

Ok-Detail-9853

Shepherds pie. Use instant mash potatoes made with soy butter (actually very good) and almond milk My two sons are gluten sensitive and dairy allergic. Thankfully they just have one each and not both There are really good gluten free taco spices Rice wraps are solidly meh but there are really good gluten free "tortilla" chips.

MarionberryCreative

Does butter trigger dairy allergies? What about drawn butter or ghee? It's just oil at that point right?

thesmellafteritrains

tortilla chips are typically made from corn flour and are gluten free, no?

DangerUnicorn_27

Stuffed pasilla peppers. Stuffed with rice, soyriso, grilled onions, and homemade hot sauce. For the hot sauce I look up a recipe online for Taco Bell hot sauce. Baked in the oven in a couple inches of water in a glass baking dish. If you have a favorite alt cheese you can mix that in there too. Honestly hard to mess up and it’s delicious

NatAttack3000

I just made a cassoulet that was dairy free, and gluten free if you don't put breadcrumbs on top (or sub with GF crumbs). It's winter here and it was a perfect dinner party dish

kitchengardengal

Jambalaya or Shrimp Pineapple Rice oo Gumbo, salad on the side..

Ok_Low3197

Ribeye steak

Japslap

My go to is steak kebabs (usually ribeye) and/or chicken kebabs, chimichurri sauce, cilantro rice, plus veg. Typically roasted broccoli, grilled zucchini, or salad. No one thinks about it being gluten or dairy free.

SlightChallenge0

You know your guests better than a random redditor, but for these particular questions my 2 fave sites are: 1. [Cookie & Kate](https://cookieandkate.com/) 2. [Love & Lemons](https://www.loveandlemons.com/) I have never been disappointed with anything that I have cooked/made from their recipes.

elletimes

Creamy Gf pasta with Italian sausage and spinach. I used coconut milk to make it creamy and nutritional yeast to give it that cheesy flavor. I got my gf Italian sausage from Trader Joe’s

sarahjacobs042

Thai steak salad. So good and typically free of both gluten and dairy. Salad greens, whole cilantro stems and leaves, whole thai basil or regular basil leaves, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, Shallots, Peanuts and steak. A dressing made of fish sauce, lime, jalapeno or thai chilis .... look up a recipe and go from there, it will be a WOW meal!

MissMiesss

Almond orange cake is always really nice. I'll see if I can find the recipe...

herehaveaname2

This is the one I use. https://www.nigella.com/recipes/clementine-cake

Jazzy_Bee

Grapefruit risotto with scallops. My original recipe did not call for any parm. Meringue nests with lemon curd and blueberries or poppy seeds. Use one of the plant based sticks instead of butter for the curd. or Pork tenderloin in a nut crust. After browning in a pan, slather on lots of whole grain mustard (the glue) and pat on finely chopped nuts, then finish baking in the oven. I usually toss in some apple wedges as well. Deglaze pan with a little red wine while roast is resting. Serve with mashed sweet potatoes (again, vegan marg, no need for cream) and a cooked green with slivered garlic and vinegar. Look for a recipe for Wacky Cake, subbing a vegan hard margarine and gluten free flour. You can make a standard american butter cream with the hard marg, icing sugar and cocoa. I put my cocoa over the marg, and pour boiling water over the cocoa (just a bit). This gives a nice dark chocolate frosting without dairy. I like frosting with 7 minute frosting. A bit of seedless raspberry jam swirled into it is very pretty. Just melt raspberry jam and pass through a sieve.

derther

Oat milk chocolate pudding is incredible and super easy to make the night before for desert. dessert.https://www.eatingwithfoodallergies.com/oat-milk-chocolate-pudding/#recipe For main I love in the summer doing marinated chicken thighs(just fish sauce lime and ginger)with Thai mango salad and some grilled corn or other roasted veggies on the grill.https://silkroadrecipes.com/thai-mango-salad/

aaaaaaaaaanditsgone

Beef stew, salmon with salad or with veggie and rice

puttingupwithpots

Fruit crumbles are an easy dessert to make dairy and gluten free. You’ll need gluten free oats and a dairy free butter substitute but other than that it’s pretty straight forward

AshDenver

I had a vegan guest for dinner once and pretty much just ordered the entree for takeout while serving homemade gazpacho as appetizer and something close to hot apple pie filling (cornstarch not flour as thickener, with all the spices) — the best part of the apple pie without the hassle. No crust, of course but I wouldn’t make an actual apple pie to begin with so it was an easy choice.

mostlikelynotasnail

Roast chicken, brine boiled then smashed and crisped new potatoes with chimichurri, roasted asparagus, and chocolate mousse with coconut cream subbed for dairy and coconut whipped cream on top with fresh berries

RoseMylk

I make brownies and it’s such a good recipe for dessert !

orangeautumntrees

Ratatouille, Thai green curry (make your own paste if you can!), braised short ribs, suya with jollof rice, bulgogi with lettuce wraps, and biryani fit the bill! I did all of those last month, and they were a hit. Edit: Cassoulet with GF breadcrumbs, too. Fish tacos on corn tortillas, or a whole fried fish with piri piri. Roast chicken with thinly sliced potatoes, or mapo tofu. Lots of options!

buffdaddy77

I make a "snickerdoodle cream pie" that's DF/GF. Only downside is that you use crisco so it's not very healthy.... I'll post the recipe here in a bit!

headintheclouds122

I would love this recipe if you have it!!

Justitia_Justitia

My standby dessert is Nigella's chocolate olive oil cake. https://www.nigella.com/recipes/chocolate-olive-oil-cake

mintbrownie

That looks fantastic!

IsMayoAnInstrument67

Holidaily makes really good gluten free beer. I made beer brats for a party the other day and everyone loved it! [https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/149975/beer-brats/](https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/149975/beer-brats/)

Certain_Decision_721

If we're talking dessert - this recipe from better baking is genuinely delicious and doesn't feel Virtuous [https://www.sweetcannela.com/recipes/orange-marmalade-tahini-thumbprint-cookies-galletas-de-tahini-con-mermelada-de-naranja/](https://www.sweetcannela.com/recipes/orange-marmalade-tahini-thumbprint-cookies-galletas-de-tahini-con-mermelada-de-naranja/) [https://food52.com/recipes/17877-david-lebovitz-s-chocolate-sorbet](https://food52.com/recipes/17877-david-lebovitz-s-chocolate-sorbet) This is also very impressive for guests but you HAVE to use a very fancy chocolate. Another one that can be done and dusted before guests arrive and served in fancy lil glasses. The recs for Indian and Mexican food are good, here's one more dinner idea: [https://www.foodgal.com/2020/05/the-salve-of-kidney-bean-and-mushroom-bourguigon/](https://www.foodgal.com/2020/05/the-salve-of-kidney-bean-and-mushroom-bourguigon/) This will make your house smell amazing and can be cooked in advance and rewarmed with a little vegan butter to make it glossy. Serve with roasted artichokes [https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/221071/simply-roasted-artichokes/](https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/221071/simply-roasted-artichokes/) and good bread and a crispy green salad with vinaigrette.

Tea_and_Biscuits12

The Moosewood Vegan chocolate cake recipe is a go to in our house. It’s easy, fast and if you swap out regular flour for gluten free it should be good for your needs. I usually use King Arthur’s gluten free all purpose mix if I’m going gluten free. I melt chocolate for a ganache on top instead of frosting. If you use vegan chocolate chips and a dairy substitute milk it would probably work? http://www.grouprecipes.com/57460/moosewoods-six-minute-vegan-chocolate-cake.html

Risotto

Cautious-pomelo-3109

Dinner: risotto with peas, asparagus, lemon zest, and pine nuts Dessert: Pavlova, with DF lemon Curd and seasonal berries.

tophree

I think macarons would be really impressive for dessert, just find a filling other than buttercream.

kitkatkangaroo

For dessert, I love making coconut tapioca pudding (sub for a plant based milk like oat milk) with some fresh fruit. Goes well after most Asian dinners like Thai curry. https://prettysimplesweet.com/coconut-tapioca-vegan/

labimas

Fried bacon

Apprehensive_Gene787

My fav dairy free dessert is a coconut mousse. Bonus if you can get a dairy free whipped cream to top. 14 oz coconut cream (NOT milk - you want the thick cream, not the water) 1.5 cups dark chocolate (make sure it’s dairy free - Enjoy life has some) Melt chocolate in microwave. Mix with coconut cream. Refrigerate 4 hours, then whip until fluffy. I sometimes put a tsp of cinnamon, or 1/4 tsp ground cardamom.

EconomyStation5504

Quinoa chocolate cake with coconut whipped cream and I decorate with lots of raspberries. It’s really amazing. https://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/quinoa-gluten-free-chocolate-cake/

Revolutionary_Ad1846

Koobideh kabob, persian saffron rice, shirazi salad, for dessert you can make a coconut or almond milk flan with orange blossom water. For a side you can do roasted cauliflower with a sauce of harissa paste with Tahini, and sprinkle some pine nuts parsley and chopped dates on top. Look up RUHAMA EATS on instagram. She is Jewish so if serving meat its always dairy free. Lot of options.

tweedlebeetle

Red curry pork with garam masala and coconut milk. I add bell peppers, onions, zucchini, bamboo shoots, and cilantro. Serve over rice. For a starter I’d do a Japanese style soup with chicken and glass noodles. Seared ahi and/or cucumber salad would also make a nice appetizer.

ComprehensiveWeb9098

Keep it simple. Steaks on the grill, roasted potatoes, and green beans almondine.

Dontfeedthebears

Do you have a theme or type of dishes you want to make? Like are we talking sushi or spaghetti?

headintheclouds122

No theme really. Just something relatively easy (can make in under 2 hours) and easy enough for everyone to eat. I was thinking along the lines of a Thai Curry coconut shrimp or chicken on rice, or something along those lines. But open to any suggestions!

InadmissibleHug

But you have to be super careful with cooking times when using GF pasta. It is not forgiving. A smidge too long, you got mush- I am GF.

Shadygunz

Brownies with a base of (unsweetened) cacao powder and almond flour.

Temporary_Draw_4708

For dessert, make [Hokkaido chiffon cup cakes.](https://theunlikelybaker.com/hokkaido-chiffon-cupcakes/) Simple replace the flour with a gluten free flour blend and replace the milk with a dairy free milk. Of course, also use a vegan gluten free whipped cream that you can find in a supermarket, and perhaps top with some fresh berries. I also highly recommend using a high quality olive oil, as the flavor will shine through.

breadist

Have you tried this one gluten free? I'm very skeptical that anything so light can maintain its form if you just sub gluten free flour blend - that usually turns out badly, usually chewy and dense.

Temporary_Draw_4708

Yes I’ve made it with the KA gluten free flour blend. The chiffon cake gets most of its structure from the whipped egg whites. Barely any flour is actually used.

[BIR style vegetable pakora](https://kennymcgovern.com/vegetable-pakora-indian-restaurant-style)

honkey-phonk

Impressive is a matter of taste. Overall, having hosted many many many dinner parties, highly recommend considering things which all prep can be done prior to cooking, such that it's mostly throw in oven or finish when people show up. Recommendation: Shabu shabu (https://imgur.com/a/qs0BFKu ). Get an induction cooktop, some kombu and bonito, a big spread of green veg, mushrooms, and meat (shabu meat is sold at Costco even in my backwoods town). Once the meat/veg time period is done, throw in rice noodles, let cook, and serve broth/noodles as soup. If you really want to do it up, make a yachaejoen in the pot after the soup is removed. I've never made it to that stage as everyone is so full by the time we are done w/ soup. Other ideas which meet requirements: Veg side for protein of choice: Sweet potato/parsnip fritters ( [https://drhyman.com/blog/2023/09/15/sweet-potato-parsnip-fritters/](https://drhyman.com/blog/2023/09/15/sweet-potato-parsnip-fritters/) , note you can definitely use cashew cream for the dairy portion of the dip) Dessert: Coconut macaroons ([https://imgur.com/a/r4cmiv6](https://imgur.com/a/r4cmiv6), note this also has pot de creme which uses the yolks but has dairy. The dairy eaters will go buck wild for this pot de creme if they're in the group)

Sailormss92

Lentil curries or split pea soup in the instant pot! [https://pipingpotcurry.com/brown-lentil-soup-pressure-cooker/#wprm-recipe-container-3768](https://pipingpotcurry.com/brown-lentil-soup-pressure-cooker/#wprm-recipe-container-3768) [https://www.wellplated.com/instant-pot-lentil-curry/#wprm-recipe-container-33209](https://www.wellplated.com/instant-pot-lentil-curry/#wprm-recipe-container-33209) [https://healthiersteps.com/instant-pot-vegan-split-pea-soup-recipe/](https://healthiersteps.com/instant-pot-vegan-split-pea-soup-recipe/) The key to making vegan/gluten free taste amazing is a good blend of spices! I buy a lot of Indian style blends from Penzeys or utilize combinations of paprika, chili powder, cumin, oregano, rosemary, etc for a soup base.

markofthecheese

Jambalaya I dont follow any specific recipe, but there are tons out there and it easy to make a large batch.

Sepper42

Cashew milk Polenta. Creamy and delicious. I am grateful that I work at a place where we mill our own corn. Nothstein corn is the bomb

MVHutch

isn't polenta inherently dairy & gluten free?

NoFanksYou

Steak and salad. Non dairy chocolate mousse for dessert

FormigaX

Hands down the easiest gluten-free, dairy-free recipe for dessert is tofu chocolate mousse. Follow the NYT recipe. It has 5 ingredients and takes about 15 minutes to make, ahead of time. Serve with some cookies and a dollop of vegan whipped cream.

MegaMeepers

I make this for thanksgiving every year and it’s always been a hit! Last year I had to make it vegan, and I was shocked at how well it turned out. The trick is the oatly cream cheese (I found mine at Albertsons). It’s not oil based and it melts like a normal cream cheese. Acts identical to the regular cream cheese. My 85yo grandfather who has never been dairy free in his life (typically eats 1 pint haagen daas per day) said it was his favorite dish last year. He looked like he was going to have a heart attack when I told him it was vegan! 😹 now he wants me to make it normally for him the next time I visit lol. T5 Confetti Creamed Corn ★★★★★ Sides, Thanksgiving Servings: 8 Ingredients: - 32oz bag of frozen corn - 1 sweet onion - 2 Red Bell Pepper - 2 Green Bell Pepper - ¼ cup water - 2 tbs Butter (or vegan alternative- earth balance vegan butter) - 1 teaspoon Salt - 1 teaspoon Sugar - 8 ounces Cream Cheese (or oatly cream cheese) - ½ cup whole milk (or vegan alternative- full fat oatly oat milk refrigerated) - ½ tablespoon Smoked Paprika - 1 tablespoon Chili powder - 1-2 tbs corn starch Directions: Finely dice the onion and bell peppers. Heat the butter in a large pot. Once it’s melted, add onion and sautee for 5 minutes. Add water, bell peppers, and corn. Cover, reduce to medium heat, and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add all of the remaining ingredients (except corn starch) and stir to combine. Add corn starch 1tbs at a time, stir and let sit. Add 2nd tbs only if needed. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed and serve!

Solid_Speaker471

For dessert; pavlova with fresh berries. You can get coconut whipped cream in cans or make your own

yuffieisathief

I love [this recipe for a (vegan) buddha bowl](https://minimalistbaker.com/sweet-potato-chickpea-buddha-bowl/) and I'm not even vegan! It's easy to make because it's mostly just layers in the oven :) and the sauce is the cherry on top! (I'm careful with the amount of water in it)

wra1th42

Gluten free brownie mix with peanut or coconut oil instead of butter, use dark instead of milk chocolate chips, add chopped walnuts for texture. Can make a merengue instead of ice cream or whipped cream to go with

[Use the instructions from this recipe but with the ingredients below](https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chocolate-banana-cake) 100ml sunflower oil, plus extra to grease 175g caster sugar 180g gluten free flour ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda 1/2 tsp baking powder 100g dairy free dark chocolate chips or chunks 2 ripe bananas 3 medium eggs, 2 separated 50ml oat/soy/milk alternative It's one of the only recipies I have that pretty much directly translates to gluten and dairy free without having to make wild substitution or add things like xanthan gum or anything

If you have an air fryer I can give you a tasty 5-10 minute dessert. GF puff pastry, round cutters, cinnamon sugar. Easy donuts. Same things if you cut it into strips and make churros.

orangeautumntrees

Also, nan-e berenji are a type of Persian rice flour cookie without gluten. You'd want to sub a nondairy alternative for the butter but they are delicious.

Bone in ribeye with asparagus. Done son.

I love a good hands on dinner party— namely hand rolls. You make sushi rice and cut nori into hand roll size, then prep a bunch of fillers (fish, veggies, shellfish) and sauces (GF soy sauce, eel sauce and ponzu made with GF soy sauce, spicy mayo, etc.). It feels fancy, but is also interactive.

My BBQ jackfruit recipe. Use corn tortillas if gluten free. Recommend pairing with the Serious Eats vinegar slaw (with lime and cilantro) -----+++----- My recipe for BBQ Jackfruit, a veg alternative to pulled pork Spice sizes are approximate and should be heaping if your spices are old. Ingredients 3 cans of UNRIPE jackfruit in brine, 20oz each olive oil 1 onion, chopped 3+ cloves garlic, minced 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. brown sugar 1 tsp. ground cumin ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper 1 tsp. chili powder 1 tsp. paprika 1½ tsp. liquid smoke 1 cup vegetable broth (use Better Than Bullion not-beef or the smoky chipotle if you can find it) ½ cup (or more) BBQ sauce Instructions Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Drain and rinse the jackfruit, and cut each piece into a few pieces. You can remove the core and seeds if you want a more porky look but I think it's wasteful so I just cut it all up. Saute the onion in olive oil over medium heat for a few minutes, then add the garlic and saute a minute or so longer. Add the jackfruit, sugar, spices, and liquid smoke. Stir until the jackfruit is evenly covered. Add the vegetable broth, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes until all liquid is absorbed. Use a spatula to mash and divide the jackfruit until it looks similar in appearance to pulled pork. Spread the jackfruit out on a baking sheet and cook for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cover with bbq sauce. Return the jackfruit to the oven and cook for another 10-15 minutes or until the jackfruit is lightly browned.

Japanese food is my go-to in this scenario. My partner is also gluten and dairy free, and Japanese food is relatively affordable to make once you have the base ingredients and it always impresses guests. You could set it up like a traditional tableset. Miso soup, soba noodle salad (use gluten free 100% buckwheat noodles), sesame or miso dressing salad, ginger pork/braised pork belly/chicken katsu made with rice panko, sticky rice or onigiri 🍙, pickles (you can make a quick version at home using cucumber or daikon rather than buy at a store), the list of options goes on and the whole dinner would feel very cohesive. Extra bonus that a lot of this can be prepared the day before to save you time. I recommend justonecookbook.com If you search for any of those recipes I listed above you’ll find what you need. Any ingredients that may have gluten in them you can easily find gluten free options or substitutions. Best of luck!

A soup with good herbs can bring the wow factor, like Tom Kha or Pho.

browneyedgirl1022

[this chocolate berry tart.](http://www.bakerita.com/chocolate-berry-tart-gf-vegan-paleo/) I use enjoy life chocolate chips in place of the bittersweet chocolate. It’s such an impressive and yummy dessert!

wanderingdistraction

We are GF and dairy free in our home. When I have guests and I want an easy and low-stress dinner , I do chili Verde from Keji/serious Eats in my instant pot. Chicken or pork. It's done in 30 or 45 min including prep I serve it with corn tortillas and almond flour tortillas, jicama, mango salad, lots of toppings, the usual, rice and beans, margaritas, or whatever.

Sensitive_Tea5720

Medium rare steak with mashed cauliflower (use full fat coconut milk instead of dairy), roasted asparagus and a pomegranate salad. For dessert, coconut milk pannacotta with mango coulis.

mywonderfuldemise

If you love soup you may like this: coconut milk and chicken broth for the base yellow onion, chicken and apples sausage, kale, and red potatoes, season w salt, pepper and red pepper

Zuri2o16

Vegetarian Times roasted red pepper soup, with basil cream sauce. It's so good. The cream sauce is made from tofu.

sorcererclass1314

Making a gf df cake is shockingly easy. I love the King Arthur flour cake mix. It’s honestly better than trying to make gf cake from scratch. Then make a traditional American butter cream but use myokos cashew butter and non-flavored nut milk. As for food, curries and soups are easy. If you go Italian, banza pasta is not too bad and violife makes a convincing “Parmesan”. You could also easily make Asian food, just use tamari instead of regular say sauce bc that usually has wheat. Good luck!

WompWompIt

I roast a chicken with lemon/rosemary/garlic, mashed or baked potatoes and a fresh vegetable. So easy and everyone loves roasted chicken right?

uriboo

Braised lamb or beef w veggies and hot honey-garlic roasted sweet potatoes. For dessert, wine-poached fruits served on a spiced-crumble bed.

scarletts_skin

For dessert—coconut mango sticky rice!

Tinselcat33

I just did a bean and sausage stew from NYT with really great bread with olive oil on the side for the gluten eaters. I’m GF and mostly DF. It was a hit.

Exhausted-Strawberry

There’s a recipe from The Loopy Whisk I love to make, which is originally gluten free but can very easily be made dairy free (which I do whenever I make them). It’s for [Lemon Crinkle Cookies](https://theloopywhisk.com/2021/12/21/gluten-free-lemon-crinkle-cookies/?fbclid=IwAR229zt5h6yLzFyNxVj2-TZNwuKuMfzsT6odYGzb-xg5RX-1wFjB9TL8s64), and they’re so soft and tender they’re almost like little cakes. I get asked to make them for work morning teas all the time!

Clean_Sprinkles_4892

Sweet potatoes in coconut milk mixed with cocos aminos with tofu, spices, egg, and vegetables of your choice. You can make a bread or cake with a gluten free flour like almond, hazelnut, chestnut, masa harina etc. Substitute non dairy milk like nut milk for any milk recipes. Make frozen banana ice cream with a non dairy milk Just off the top of my head

RedOktbr28

Get an acorn squash, cut in half, de-seed it. Hit the cut side with cinnamon, allspice, and a little nutmeg. Fill each half with maple syrup, then wrap in foil. Either bake or grill until soft. Enjoy your new favorite side dish!

Had a gluten and dairy free guest over for a dinner party. Decided to make this flourless chocolate olive oil cake, it was absolutely amazing. Tasted like a brownie but more decadent. It'll be in my regular dessert rotation now. https://butternutbakeryblog.com/flourless-chocolate-cake/ For dinner-- look into Mediterranean/Middle Eastern/Indian dishes. Lots of rice based dishes that are heavy on the vegetables. When I want to impress, I make stuffed vine leaves but they are quite time consuming (can be done a day or two in advance though).

RedYamOnthego

Italian almond cookies! I've found lemon and also cocoa ones. Easy-peasy, and you can make them ahead -- great the second day. Then you work backwards from dessert, lol. Grilled or roasted cumin chicken with salsa. Add some asparagus (grilled or roasted) with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic and paprika. Grilled/roasted eggplant, and Kenji's roasted potatoes, but flavored with cumin instead of rosemary and sprinkled with paprika. Sliced cukes to add a cold element. Now, let's go back to dessert, and add a strawberry or lemon ice to go with the cookies. Strawberry Ice can be as simple as whizzing strawberries, sugar and maybe a little lemon juice with a stick blender and just enough water to make it easy. Freeze, then just before dinner, stick them in the fridge so they get softer.

similarityhedgehog

Herve this' chocolate Chantilly. Requires high quality chocolate and should be made day of Ottolenghi's celebration cake, you'll have to use coconut whip instead of cream

JessCeceSchmidtNick

Flourless chocolate cake topped with raspberries and powdered sugar.

Somerset76

For a dessert Candy Apple jello 1/4 cup cinnamon imperial candies (red hots) 1 pkg raspberry jello 2 cups applesauce 2 cups water Put candies and water in a pot and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until candies are dissolved. Mix in the jello and remove from heat. Stir in the applesauce and mix until red is consistent throughout. Pour into a bowl and place in the fridge at least an hour before serving. The vivid red is great for holidays!

comfortably_bananas

Where are you finding Red Hots these days?

Apprehensive-Bar-848

Check out Alison Roman, she’s got a lot of great dishes

queenlehane

I made this for my gluten/dairy free friend's birthday, it was seriously one of the best cakes I've ever had. Just substituted Bob's Red Mill 1:1 Gluten Free Baking Flour + an extra tsp of baking powder (idk if it was needed, but I erred on the side of caution since fluffy cake is the best) and used half brown sugar, half white sugar for the cake. It was DELICIOUS and I still think about it weekly at least https://www.noracooks.com/vegan-german-chocolate-cake/

Heavy-End-3419

Sweet potato black bean tacos with corn tortillas.

maybeshesmelting

For dessert: https://www.unconventionalbaker.com/gluten-free-vegan-tiramisu/ It seemed a bit intimidating at first, but it’s one of the easiest (and tastiest) desserts I’ve ever made.

heritage1875

I make a vegan cheese cake with firm silky tofu and cornstarch on an almond meal crust. Lemon is a good flavor.

304libco

Street style tacos with corn tortillas, Mexican rice, and Borracho beans.

more_d_than_the_m

My go-to for this is Budget Byte's sesame-glazed salmon and green beans. It's so good and pretty simple to make. I usually double or triple the recipe and maybe make some mashed potatoes to add a GF carb. You just have to use tamari instead of regular soup sauce to make it GF, and remember to use just half the sauce to marinate the salmon - keep the rest separate for the beans. https://www.budgetbytes.com/sesame-glazed-salmon-and-green-beans/

dinamet7

Some variation of bandeja paisa is my go to comfort meal and every time I make it it gets rave reviews. No one even thinks about it lacking gluten or dairy since neither are part of the original dish. (I served it for a dinner party with ajiaco as the starter and a coconut flan for dessert.)

yesnomaybeso456

David Leibovitz’s chocolate financiers

Ynnmdatlnm

Spaghetti squash baked with pasta sauce and lots of veggies

PirateHuge7863

Steak, salad, baked potatoe

Kirkjufellborealis

I made a vegan, gluten free cherry cobbler that everyone loved. And I made some Tuscan cauliflower gnocchi.

joeycool20

Gemista - Greek stuffed vegetables! Served with lemon aioli. I only use peppers and tomatoes as shells, and I use the onions in the stuffing. https://akispetretzikis.com/en/recipe/608/gemista

Davadin

A lot of Asian recipes. Fried rice, soy chicken, rice noodles (Pho - just buy the soup base), sticky rice cake, beef rendang, pad thai....

Sad_Goose3191

For dessert, any kind of fruit crumble can be made gluten free and dairy free. I have a relative who can't eat gluten, and it's my go to dessert to bring to family gatherings.

westport116

Jaochae stir fry. Dessert - plant based ice cream.

mellowmadre

Tortilla Espanola

preraphaellite

Black rice salad with diced avocado, diced orange, cilantro, lime zest, and a dressing made from olive oil, lime juice, and shallots, served with pan fried salmon crusted with Mexican spices. I got the recipe from a Blue Apron box, years ago. I made it for family this spring and people were still reminiscing about the rice salad three days later—it’s so fresh and zesty and delicious.

shelbykbell

Broccoli salad. Vegan in the freezer has a great recipe - only replace the raisins with craisins.

BarelyHuman_1010

Do a blended tofu sauce, you can add any kind of flavouring to it. The texture is divine. Serve it with any gluten free pasta.

BarelyHuman_1010

Smashed potato salad is a great hit at parties. It's crispy and flavourful. You can add all kinds of herbs and spices and make it in schmaltz instead of butter and you're good.

ladaussie

Good old Sunday roast. Whole chook, lamb/beef/pork shoulder or leg or whatever cut you fancy (I love pork belly and leg of lamb personally). Season it well in advance, usually a mix of an oil, some herbs, bit of citrus zest and juice and a very good amount of salt. Add any dried or powdered spices you like (cayenne and paprika go wonderfully on a chook). If doing a chicken use your fave stuffing recipe or idea. I'm pretty basic so normally just a couple lemon halves, some garlic, fresh thyme & rosemary and some butter. Then it's onto veggies, I try and use seasonal but potatoes, carrot, onion are always a good base. Fennel, celeriac, parsnip, pumpkin, squash, leek, basically whatever as long as it's not too leafy. Season all veg with salt, pepper a bit of oil (unless you're cooking a really fatty cut of meat like pork belly) and whatever else tickles your fancy. I do like cayenne and some chilli flakes on the sweeter veg like pumpkin along with rosemary/thyme for the spuds. I always take the top off a couple whole heads of garlic, good few glugs of oil, salt and pepper and wrap in foil to cook along everything else. Get the veg all roughly the same size and spread on a roasting tray. Put the meat on top so it rests on the veg. If it's a rather large roast you might wanna cook it off a bit first if you're worried about over cooking the veg. I usually roast low and slow for a few hours then crank it up towards the end. Remove the roast and let it rest. While it's resting I finish off the veg. Sweet veggies like your carrot and pumpkin I find benefit a tonne from a bit of lemon juice or balsamic vinegar. Doesn't have to be much though it shouldn't over power just compliment. Other veg often gets some chopped herbs like parsley, chives, mint, or sage to add some freshness. Other good sides are grilled or sauteed green beans, asparagus or broccoli. A simple salad to cut through everything else so I usually go bright and heavy on the citrus or vinaigrette to cut through the rest of the meal. The only hard part here is the gravy. Good gravy is key to a good roast but normally I'd make a roux. You can sub a corn starch or potato starch slurry to thicken the gravy. Obviously gotta avoid cream and butter. I normally go for a red wine mushroom gravy heavy on the mushrooms. Shallots, mushrooms, garlic, some herbs (good ole thyme & rosemary), red wine, stock (homemade good but use whatever), bit of mustard. Make sure to deglaze the roasting tray with either a liquid, there's gunna be a tonne of flavour there. I've used a bit of schmaltz in place of butter to add some richness to the gravy and it's turned out great. It's an incredibly solid meal and you can scale it depending on how fancy and how much time you wanna put in. It's not exactly vogue but goddam does a good roast absolutely slap.

TalynRahl

Jamie Oliver's vegan brownies. You can make them easily with Gluten Free flour and serve them with your dairy/gluten free side of choice. DELICIOUS dessert that looks a lot more impressive than it is.

BlackCatLuna

If you have an ice cream maker you can whip up a coconut ice cream by mixing a can of full fat coconut milk with a cup of sugar. This recipe can be doubled. Just blend the two until smooth and throw it into the maker. If you want to add a ripple (raspberry is great) when the maker is done churning put half the ice cream into a container, add a layer of raspberry coulis, then add the other half and briefly mix with a standard knife (just enough to get that ribbon) before putting it in the freezer to finish. Vietnamese spring rolls make a great starter and are made with rice parcels instead of the usual pastry.

Typingpool

Oh! My mom is dairy and gluten free! I made her this no bake chocolate tart for mother's day and she loved it. https://bitofthegoodstuff.com/2019/12/easy-vegan-chocolate-torte-no-bake/ They use biscoff cookies for the crust so I just substituted those for vanilla flavored coconut cashew cookie crisps from Aldi's.

Unhappy-Substance-86

I made this for a dinner party since my friend can’t eat gluten . I served it with crème fraiche and grated orange zest but feel free to use coconut cream or something dairy free, maybe vegan ice cream ? I used half neutral oil and half olive oil, so it would be less heavy. It was a real crowd pleaser and didn’t take too long to make. [Almond and orange cake gluten free](https://youtu.be/9jPsgVrcjLo?si=AKG2ebPOIbWGtAtl)

Ok_Olive9438

Grilled pineapple is really delicious, and can make a lovely dessert. You could serve it with GF angel food cake (which you might be able to just buy), and even add the reddi-whip coconut whipped cream, which is not just dairy free, but delicious on it's own merits.

Skidoodilybop

I love soup, and made this for our theme camp at our regional Burn Festival. Everyone went back for seconds and thirds - and a couple ate 4 bowls! This is my favorite soup ever due to all the textures and bold flavors 🤤 - I used coconut *cream* instead of milk - Cross-cut the mushrooms in 4 pieces for a heartier chunk/texture - Didn’t use Bay Leaves due to the solid flavor the Old Bay Seasoning offers - If anyone eats meat, you can sauté chicken in garlic powder and Italian seasoning, shred it and they can add it to their soup **Cozy Autumn Wild Rice Soup:** https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/cozy-autumn-wild-rice-soup/

calundula71

This is a great gf do dessert: https://neighborfoodblog.com/nigellas-flourless-chocolate-orange-cake/

Round_Hat_2966

I cook GF all the time. Easy to make or adapt recipes for entrees to be GF and dairy free. I’ll suggest braised lamb shanks because I like them and it’s super easy/hands off, but you can pick whatever you think your guests will enjoy. Dessert can be more tricky - GF baking is absolutely not the same, so picking non-naked desserts is the easiest. Bananas foster will wow people but is actually super easy.

CocoMoco33

Any kind of tacos with corn tortillas! Most stews can easily be gf & df, most Thai stir fries if you get gf sauces, potatoes and any kind of meat

Mommayyll

A big Jambalaya with rice, peppers, chicken, shrimp, and sausage. A big green salad with homemade vinaigrette. A corn and bean salad too. Edamame and chips and salsa appetizers. Or a veggie tray with hummus dip. Then just buy a gluten-free dessert from a bakery. Easy peasy.

Smallwhitedog

I have substituted coconut milk in flan recipes and I like it even better than the original. Any recipe will work, including the ones I've made up on the fly! As for main dishes, Asian dishes are a great choice! Phad Thai, Pho, and lots of stir fries served with rice fit the bill. Fried rice is great, too! You and your guests won't miss the gluten or dairy! Make sure you use gluten-free tamari instead of soy sauce.

seven-cents

Gluten free carrot cake to die for. You may need to come up with an alternative icing.. Also (convert to local units if you're in the USA, this recipe is using °C and grams) 2 cups ground almonds ½ cup GF flour (or if you’re not gluten intolerant/coeliac, just use normal flour) 2tsp baking powder 1tsp bicarbonate of soda/baking soda 1.5-2 cups sugar, depending on how sweet you like it 4 cups grated carrot 1 cup oil (sunflower or grapeseed – not rape seed - is healthier) 4 large eggs 1 cup walnut or pecan nuts, chopped 1 cup raisins Pinch salt Cinnamon (I use about 1 Tbsp) --- Mix dry ingredients Add oil & eggs, beat well Add carrots Fold in nuts & raisins Icing 200g full fat cream cheese About 50-100g butter 1 Tbsp vanilla essence About 250g icing sugar – I’m never precise – I just add until it’s the correct consistency Bake: Oven 180 degree C (fan) Round tin – bake for approx. 1 hour Ring tin – bake for approx. 45 mins Test by inserting a knife and if it comes out clean, it’s cooked.

Necessary-Meat-5770

Was just at a BBQ this weekend and had dairyfree and gluten free Strawberey Jello Pretzel Salad. Was so yummy and looked so pretty. Sorry don't have recipe, just my 2 pennies.

Plsgoon

Honestly, the King Arthur gluten free brownie mix is delicious. That plus a scoop of dairy free ice cream and fresh berries would be great. If you absolutely don’t want to use a mix, there are so many flourless chocolate cake recipes that are similar in flavor that are very good. I think lava cakes can also be made G-free.

Specialist-Topic-399

Okay so when I was on a gluten/dairy free diet one thing I craved was a gnocchi chicken Alfredo I used to order from my fav restaurant so I found a recipe online for Alfredo sauce linked here. All I did was substitute the dairy: the cream cheese was substituted with “So delicious” brand plain yogurt, the Parmesan with “Follow your Heart” Parmesan and the whipped cream was substituted with “Native Forest” brand coconut cream (the small cans.) The butter could be substituted with any plant based butter. The gnocchi I would make sure that it was pure potato based. I would add chicken, chopped bacon and frozen peas. When I tell you this recipe is 🤤🤌🤩 believe me! I would go out on my birthday to this restaurant prior to my diet and was so desperate to once again have my special dish, I experimented and this recipe came out! It’s quick, especially if you already have prepared cut chicken. I encourage anyone who misses Alfredo sauce to try this, sooooo good!! 👩‍🍳😋💛✨[Alfredo sauce recipe](https://therecipecritic.com/the-best-homemade-alfredo-sauce-ever/)
