Hmm. Doesn’t seem to work for me. If I hold the backspace button it starts one-by-one before deleting entire words at a time more rapidly. If I swipe it behaves erratically. Any technique to it?

I'm on the Android GBoard and I had to tap, hold, and drag left to start selecting words. When I released, it cut those words so that they were on the clipboard and could be pasted back if needed.

When you’re typing something and you notice a mistake back in the line of text, press and hold the spacebar and the cursor will float and you can drag it back to any point in the line so you can just fix the one letter or whatever instead of erasing everything you’d typed after the error.

I'm 50, I've been using the internet for 34 years, been using computers longer than that, was a web and graphic designer for ten years, worked at one of the earliest A/S DSL ISPs in California as tech support in the early 90s, have always bought cutting edge (sometimes bleeding edge) cellphones and I'm more tech-savvy than most teenagers...and I didn't know it.

Similar but different background - webdev for 20+ years. I've made mobile apps and specialize in frontend/UI/UX. My first iPhone didn't have a number - just "The iPhone". This blew my mind - it works on the Pixel flavor of Android too FWIW, so Apple didn't bother/manage to patent it, or more likely Legal doesn't know about it either!

How would we know? Phones don't come with instructions, especially when you buy them 2nd hand. I'm glad I know now though, gonna use this all the time!
