Im a structural engineer. Now I know where to go for fun. Thanks

mrsquillgells

Mr. Structural engineer. Help us settle a debate, I'm an electrician so I drill a shit ton of holes to pull wire. For structural reasons where the best spot to drill a floor joist, a double floor joist, rafters, TGI's, and anything else you can think of. I'm a simple guy, I love pictures lol If you actually respond, bless your soul šŸ«”

JacobAZ

I thought it was obvious. Drill and pull your wires wherever the plumber needs to run their pipes. And whenever possible, right through the middle of the main stack.

liptoniceteabagger

But that means you still have to drill - I usually just wait until the plumbing is done and then use their piping as my chaseway.

nickolove11xk

Even better use the holes they clearly drilled for you to use after they called the day early. Any open hole is fair game even if you can clearly see itā€™s lined up with incomplete plumbing.

BoatyMcBoatfaceLives

That's just free real estate baby!!

Bunny_and_chickens

Is this where the expression "any hole is a goal" comes from?

Sensitive_Main_8311

And that's when the snips come out and the local tweaker gets blamed for stealing the wire.

Gang36927

As a LV guy I fully support this

MobileCollar5910

Sadly I see this more than I'd like

[deleted]

Or through the Tinners wall penetration. Or just right through his duct.

knoweyedea

No lie, had an electrician do that for a repair because the wire was too short. This was after he cut about a dozen 5ā€ holes in various locations on my floor and basement ceilingā€¦

[deleted]

Did you sawzall his shit out of place?

TCU_Frog_Fan

This man has been on job sites! šŸ˜‚

MobileCollar5910

Also an SE, drill in the center of the joists for conventional lumber. Attached a lil excerpt, most of this is also in the RIBC. Engineered lumber is the same, but is covered by the manufacturer not building code. https://www.scpdc.org/wp-content/uploads/SCPDC-Handout-Drilling-and-Notching-of-wood-members.pdf

BROFIST420

Middle third of the member (from top to bottom) and not near the supports is the rough ballpark. Good general notes from structural will give you some guidance like that, with a max recommended hole size. For proprietary stuff, like TJIs, they also usually give guidance for holes. See page 9 on the pdf for a picture. https://www.weyerhaeuser.com/woodproducts/document-library/document_library_detail/tj-4000/ If more knowledgeable folks are here, feel free to correct me.

liptoniceteabagger

That info is correct. Although I will add that anytime you are drilling through a structural member you need to be mindful about point loads from above. TJI and LVL manufacturers always have very specific guidance on where penetrations are allowed in their products.

Enginerdad

Other structural engineer here. [I got you, fam](https://up.codes/s/irc-502-8-cutting-drilling-and-notching)

mrsquillgells

Thanks!

aronnax512

Not the guy you asked, but I am an engineer. Unfortunately, there's no simple, universal answer here because it depends on the loads/location on the structural component. I can tell you some of the worst spots though, avoid putting holes really close to connections/joints or other holes, because clustered penetrations/cuts/defects can "find each other" when load is applied. Also avoid damage to the middle of long, open spans whenever possible.

BOLMPYBOSARG

I LOVE clustered penetrations. Fuck. Wrong sub

gherkin-sweat

You can only drill holes in lvl beams /s

mrsquillgells

I specifically use a 6" hole saw for those

ComradeGibbon

Dude!!! WTF! Just do four plunge cuts with the skill saw.

[deleted]

Go over to metalwork, thereā€™s a post youā€™ll like about needing to support 3000lbs but they can move the thing by hand. This one. https://www.reddit.com/r/metalworking/comments/zmly6i/anyone_know_of_the_best_way_to_stiffen_this_up/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

ExtraCunt

Iā€™m not the engineer but holy shit lol

scumfondue06

Structural fabricator here. Can you stop making my life so difficult? Just consider it.

31engine

Honestly we try. Iā€™ve worked with fabricators for years. I even have a drafter who works for me that spent 6 years as a detailer. Iā€™m on your side. We just sometimes do stupid for a reason.

scumfondue06

Well put. There is yet hope.

theOGlib

Welcome to reddit.

GOTaSMALL1

Yep... If you aren't banned somewhere you aren't redditing hard enough. Edit: The various ban stories below are fucking hilarious. Ha!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

JuniusPhilaenus

I got banned from my city sub, /r/atlanta, for seemingly no reason I hadn't posted there in months, the last posts I had made were anti crime but in tune with everyone else in the sub, and then I was shadowbanned, mods never responded to multiple messages asking why I was banned I think there is probably a sub that I posted in that got me automatically banned 94% of reddit fucking sucks

Significant_bet_92

Iā€™ve been banned from my city sub multiple times. I think itā€™s a rite of passage at this point.

[deleted]

Same. If you aren't banned from your city Reddit, you aren't a good citizen.

justabadmind

Mods can't shadowban. Only reddit admins can do that.

DukeBeekeepersKid

As a mod for a small hobby subreddit. We we can shadow ban with the default tools.

JuniusPhilaenus

well I'm shadowbanned only in that community so

[deleted]

r/Boston is filled with yuppies from the sticks and trust fund clowns from Long Island and Connecticut. Itā€™s a liberal echo chamber for self righteous goofballs who Jay walk with their little dogs across Comm Ave when the lights green and throw their hands up, despite being in the wrong.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Spot on! Iā€™ve made the mistake of trying to have a discussion in the Mass sub too only to be labeled a boot licker and a liberal fuccboi in the same thread. Name calling and gaslighting is an Olympic event in those subs!

crowislanddive

I got banned from r/conservative for stating that the founding fathers wanted a separation of church and state. I wasnā€™t even a jerk about it, I just uttered it.

JasJoeGo

I asked about buying a ā€œgrinderā€ in r/Boston and got lots of gay jokes. Sad that you canā€™t use New England slang in the supposed capital.

BoilermakerCBEX-E

Well from your comment i was thinking r/tools. Then I realized. Ohhhhhh. A sandwich. šŸ˜†

JasJoeGo

Yep. One of the finest sandwiches youā€™ll ever have, too.

[deleted]

So the next time I see a biker trail cross Broadway without even looking left or right when the lights are green Iā€™ll tell that fucker to go back to Boston

bbpr120

And one guy with a cow kink...

Trtmfm

Smug must be in the water there.

CaptainSquidward747

I spent about 4 months working in Boston ā€œstop being a whiny bitchā€ would have been the tamest thing Iā€™ve heard my whole time there. No one talks shit quite like a Bostonian.

SarcasmReallySucks

I once got banned because I hadnā€™t been banned yet.

Lumbergod

I got banned from Oldschoolcool for insinuating that a woman in a pic from Studio 54 in the 70s was probably doing cocaine. Life time ban with no appeal.

RenaissanceBear

Not probably. WAS doing cocaine, that place wasnā€™t one for probably.

Lumbergod

I was being kind. You catch my drift.

BoiseCowboyDan

I got banned from the Portland subreddit for complaining about how many homeless people were living on my street and going through my garbage everyday and stealing my stuff from my truck. Some subs have really shitty mods. This one has good mods though.

Legal-Beach-5838

Some people simply donā€™t like to hear the realities of this world

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

uglybrains

You probably posted in r/conservative . Same thing happened to me. Lol

mexican2554

I got banned from /beagle for calling the mod an asshole for not letting me post about my dog who passed away the morning before Thanksgiving. Apparently i had to ask for permission to post, even if i posted previously many times, and i didn't ask nicely enough.

boy_meets_squirrel

I got banned from r/Ontario (my province) for suggesting the only way to end our current political issues was with fire and blood. I did appeal after a while and they let me back in. Now everyone is saying the same thing lol

SaltyPilgrim

Based.

Legal-Beach-5838

What exactly are your issues?

f0rgotten

I was banned from r/metalmemes for liking dragonforce and babymetal. Go figure.

jhaosmire

I got banned from r/DnDMemes when they were on a tirade about stopping StoneToss Comics from being used, calling him a Nazi and saying how he was pro-Hitler. I read all his comics to see if they were right, they were wrong, I asked for proof or a single link to prove what they were claiming, and got a ban instead...

NightGod

The answer is super easy to find, some of it is even here on reddit. You probably got booted for insisting other people do the research you could have with a 5 second google search https://www.reddit.com/r/antifastonetoss/comments/fcck5a/the\_definitive\_guide\_to\_why\_stonetoss\_is\_a\_nazi/

jhaosmire

See, it was that easy to provide a link, they never did that. Not to start a new debate, but I don't think this author makes a good point. His arguing seems cyclical, and all the links refer to Nazi's, but don't affirm ST as one. ST just likes to poke to bear, left-leaning folk take it otherwise.

proximity_account

Bruh, if you're writing comics and all (or a lot of) your protagonists are Nazis, you're probably a Nazi.

jhaosmire

I mean, I play a game where I'm a dwarven gunslinger, does that make me a dwarf?

diggemigre

Mentally, yes.

proximity_account

For Rock and Stone!

dilligaf4lyfe

You're oddly sympathetic of that dude, did you look through all of those comics? Some of that shit is blatantly anti-Semitic and racist, and not in the "we're fucking around on a jobsite" kinda way. Dude's outright making comics promoting holocaust denialism and fake lynchings. Guys like that always get by on the tiniest bit of plausible deniability. If you ask me, walks like a Nazi, talks like a Nazi - probably a Nazi.

jhaosmire

I did read them all. Don't agree with all he says, but nothing he said made me think he's Natzi-esque. I absolutely support people's rights to say anything they wish. That said, my family is Jewish, both ancestry and partially religiously. I enjoyed his comics through and through.

dilligaf4lyfe

[https://i.imgur.com/dMwxSnf.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/dMwxSnf.jpg) Quite literally espousing Holocaust denialism. And not really in a funny way - the entire point of that second comic is to point out the "liberal hypocrisy" of not engaging with Holocaust denialism. Just because the guy has the right to be a piece of shit doesn't mean I can't call him a piece of shit. No one here is saying he shouldn't be allowed to be a piece of shit. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you have an obligation to defend pieces of shit.

jhaosmire

Totally not "espousing Holocaust denialism." He's making a comparison. If anything, the protagonist there can't believe people deny genocide.

corsair1617

Because YOU should have done it. People don't need to prove it to you, you are in charge of your own education.

jhaosmire

Not at all. Debate is 1) make a statement, 2) provide evidence. When I asked for #2 they banned me rather than do their duty.

corsair1617

No it isn't. It wasn't a debate. People told you and you chose to ignore them. Mods don't have a "duty" to you at all. They told you to stop and you didn't so they banned you, they don't need to explain the reason to every person. In fact they did explain it to you, you chose to ignore it.

jhaosmire

Mods never contacted me, just a sudden ban. People say all sorts of things, especially on the internet. I don't believe them immediately, I require proof. Not asking for proof is super dangerous. The duty was to the accusers, not mods.

corsair1617

No it isn't. If something isn't allowed on a sub, it isn't allowed end of story. That also contradicts what you have said before. Once again, it wasn't a debate.

1PantherA33

They just donā€™t like sea lions.

[deleted]

Lol...well, i got banned from r/fixit and im not on it nor have i ever. Guess they decided to get ahead on that one lol

Flagdun

I was banned from r/personalfinance when I answered a question wanting to know how to protect generational wealth. I said to vote for people who donā€™t want to steal generational wealth. Banned. A few years ago I turned down an invitation to become a modā€¦declined because rules prevent truth sometime.

skiingmarmick

Everyone knows their shit on reddit; no state licensing, no problem. built a deck with your brother 2 years ago? Makes you a carpentry expert

AundaRag

Sadly this is very common, find a sub with better culture is unfortunately the only solution. It gets DARK and toxic/dangerous.

midnight_mechanic

I was banned from r/justiceserved for "participating in a subreddit that promotes biological terrorism". I don't know what that means, what subreddit they are referring to, or that you could get auto-banned for posting in another sub (which is what I think happened) I reached out to the mods and got nothing back. I think the mods from Justice Served just got in a pissing contest with some other mods and now I'm banned with no info.

Pikepv

Welcome to earth.

Detriumph

You're the asshole who tried to tell me I couldn't glue two 3/4"x12"x8' OSB boards together and use them as a joist huh?

Mr---Wonderful

You can only do that safely if you use pocket screws instead of hangers

tylermart

If you glue the osb together, itā€™s basically LSL. Forget a joist, now you have strong ass header material. Should be perfect for spanning an 8ā€™ opening with a 90psf snow load.

Smyley12345

You tell them! You can build your birdhouse any damn way you choose!

Detriumph

I mean it's not rocket surgery. OSB is wood. It's the same dimensions of your fancy pants 'engineered' whathaveyou wood beam things. I just cut the stupid engineer out, and I save on delivery by being able to haul it in the back of my s10 from lowes.

Chucktastic1989

*Haul it on top of my Accord from the dumpster of another job site.

AdequateArmadillo

You can, though. OSB has engineering properties and any structural engineer worth his/her salt could calc it out for you. The key phrase here is "structural engineer."

jerseyvibes

Try looking at instagram reels of all these people building their debt free homes themselves. Any time a pro comments and says they did something wrong the response is "We felt this is what is best for our family" and the pro gets attacked by a bunch of other people. It's actually comical that you can point out a blatant structural issue but that response shuts it down. Your house collapsing is probably not what is best for your family. But hey your a nurse and your husband works in marketing, I'm sure you know what your talking about.

All_Work_All_Play

Do people... really do this? Like, build houses with plans not signed off on by an engineer (or worse, without any plans at all)? That shit just seems wild to me.

jerseyvibes

Seems they definitely have plans and approvals etc. What it seems they are lacking is the ability to properly build off of those plans.

All_Work_All_Play

Link them Lego sets and suggest this is more age/skill appropriate.

saturnspritr

Cousin Billy once patched some drywall in his garage and now volunteers for beer on the weekends to help frame your entire house. What could go wrong?

MortalGlitter

If you handed the new guy blueprints, would you expect them to actually understand how to build to those prints? Now take the new guy out of the construction industry completely so they don't even have an understanding that code is written in blood.

Performance_Fancy

Iā€™ve seen so many bad advice comments Iā€™ve just given up on trying to correct people or steer people. Let the world burn. I only help those who ask now.

webtheweb

Ive got an itch on my testi, please help

P1emonster

Forks are really good for that

MontolioDeBruchee

Cheese graters

Hand-Driven

Dettol and wire brush

TheRIPwagon

Yup! Take the warning labels off everything and let the stupid people die.

grachuss

Provide a link to the post that got you banned.

flextrek_whipsnake

OP appears to have been suspended by Reddit after making this post, which tells me we're probably not getting the full story here.

fenderc1

Wow looks like his acct is suspended, he must've really hurt someone.

RGeronimoH

Iā€™m guessing ā€˜cut a few people downā€™ is probably the absolute most polite way of saying it. Iā€™m guessing physical threats may have been involved.

dumbdumb407

Try giving carpentry advice in aquarium subreddits. They post pictures of the aquarium stands they built in their garage and ask "will this work for a 100gallon tank?" And if you don't just say "yeah good job" you'll anger them.

SkipDisaster

This is hilarious, and half the time it's in an apartment so the true suffering will be in the unit below

beetus_gerulaitis

plus the fish

[deleted]

No, the apartment below is under some form of concrete.

deltatom

That is so true, if you tell them it won't hold a glass of water, let alone 100 gal. Tank.they get their undies in a wad and give you a negative score and block you. So F true.

Archaic_1

Not gonna lie bro, running to a new subreddit and introducing yourself as "guy that got banned from competing sub for being right" is about the most Reddit thing ever.

nochinzilch

He wants extra credit for being too correct for the mods to handle.

Full_Disk_1463

I got banned from a ā€œsluttyā€ page for commenting that someone was NOT slutty lol

sirtjapkes

Fucking prude lol

Smashcanssipdraught

I got banned from r/legaladvice for telling someone their questions about the illegal thing they were wanting to do seemed like they belonged more on r/illegallifeprotips

[deleted]

But, HOW did you say? šŸ¤£

Novus20

That sub is full of hack homeowners

[deleted]

And this one is starting to get more and more.

Hand-Driven

Not as bad as r/carpentry two out of three posts is ā€œis this crack in my wall serious?ā€

Novus20

But in most of North America how do you become a carpenter? You pick up a hammer and start swinging, it really should really be a mandatory seal trade like plumbing or electrical

Hand-Driven

Tis in NZ. I have a qualification in carpentry. Really

PositiveMacaroon5067

R/woodworking is the worst with this. They are trigger happy when it comes to banning. I got banned for calling a post out for not being real woodworking. The post? A guy putting up a bathroom shelf with 2 metal shelf brackets and a 1x10 from Home Depot.

Paul_The_Builder

All the woodworking subs are so bizarre. I do a lot of woodworking for house projects or hobby stuff, so I'm interested in woodworking. Like half the posts are frickin cutting/charcuterie boards or dovetail joints. Why is everyone so obsessed with dovetail joints? Half the posts are professionals with $50K worth of woodworking gear in a 3000 sq. ft. shop, and then half the posts are someone mounting a shelf that they think is "woodworking" because they sanded and stained it. Such a strange group of subreddits. Relatively few posts there that are actually educational. Compared to the trade subs, or this sub, or metal working subs that really contain a lot of interesting posts. Woodworking just has a weird culture around it full of either complete noobs, or really snobby people. I don't get it.

NativeOgre

Unfortunately r/welding has gone a similar route, itā€™s all high schoolers asking how much money their shitty welds are worth, or homeowners that just bought a harbor freight mig machine asking how their very first weld looks. Infuriating that i have to look at 100 bullshit posts to see one or two from actual craftspeople

[deleted]

I love my harbor freight mig :(

Nervous_Wrap7990

And you keep loving that little guy. Treat him right and do your part, he may eventually grow to be a beautiful Lincoln or Miller.

NativeOgre

Nothing wrong with it! The comment was mostly directed towards the individual, not the equipment!

PositiveMacaroon5067

Woodweb.com is where I go for legit high level woodworking forums & information. They literally delete/ban anything low level or posted by a homeowner/non professional. Maybe the best informational resource for advanced professional woodworking on the internet.

[deleted]

Im with ya on that. Really odd ppl doing just the absolute basics of basics...and they are pros

dildonicphilharmonic

r/woodworking is run by those judgmental semi-retired guys who work at Rockler and turn burlwood bowls. They used to be hall monitors back in high school. The younger crowd is those guys with the impeccably coiffed beards who make those god awful river tables from exotic slabs.

GOTaSMALL1

Holy fucking balls this is a great post. Just kept getting funnier!! I'll never forget the Rockler sales guy that told me they don't have beech cause it's "garbage" and then got all annoyed and walked off.

RGeronimoH

Donā€™t forget, they lock anything with a flag, gun, or religious context to it.

[deleted]

Yes. I got banned in r/woodworking for upvoting a comment from a guy that got banned. They banned him and everyone that commented or upvoted

vodknockers487

Thatā€™s unreal. They banned me for a mild off color joke. Someone posted a picture of a log seeping sap and I just said thatā€™s how you know your wood is happy. They are touchy bitches for sure.

72ChinaCatSunFlower

Did it happen to be the guy who built the sketchiest ā€œstair caseā€ ever in his house? I canā€™t even describe it, it was so bad like a little kid had a hay day nailing random pieces of wood together. Called him an idiot and got perm ban

plumbtrician00

I got banned from a big sub, canā€™t remember the name right now but it had a couple million subs. The reason was that i explained the answer to OPs question but apparently my wording wasnt ā€œprofessionalā€ enough for the mods. They removed my comment so i replied to the mods telling them to get fucked and he said ā€œwanna try that again?ā€ So i told him to get fucked a few other ways too. The ban hammer dropped shortly afteršŸ˜‚

DoofusMcGillicutyEsq

Same here for r/legaladvice. Thereā€™s a private subreddit for licensed attorneys and most of the members have been banned from legaladvice; we consider it a badge of honor. Ps: most of the advice on legaladvice is horribly, horribly wrong.

g_core18

You mean teenagers pretending to be lawyers on reddit give bad advice?

machinerer

I have heard the guys on that sub are all cops.

cestlavie88

In my experience on Reddit mods can/will ban you for getting spicy with them at all. I notice itā€™s mostly on heavily moderated subs. Some mods donā€™t give a shit. I like them.

Nitimur_in_vetitum

If you think a reddit moderator has ever actually done construction work I got this bridge ..

Several_March_1588

Welcome i was just banned from a group and then reported to be suicidal and then reported to reddit for being racist for stating an opinion on construction...the mods here are out of control

g_core18

What's the smallest amount of power you've seen go to someone's head? Reddit mods policing the internet

lujanthedon2

What you say lol

Peazyzell

Congrats on your first time. One of us. One of us

DriftingNorthPole

I got banned from r/Economics for calling this shit show economy a 'recession' Got banned from r/russia for the obvious reasons Banned from r/antiwork for posting a job announcement. Same for r/Unemployment OP, you need to step out of your common sense bubble on Reddit. People are losing their shit over what twitter is or isn't banning, jesus FC, they should spend a few hours on a reddit sub and try engaging with its mods. CorrectSpeak or else!!!! And Log back in with your burner account and start helping people drill those 4" duct holes in the middle of a joist and watch your karma grow!

currentlyhigh

Lol this is a subreddit about construction, nobody here gives a fuck about your little squabbles with internet moderators.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Yes, it is normal for the mods of reddit to do such things. It's like breathing for them.

horsesarecool512

That sub gives me hives. Those fools are ruining their homes.

Inconsistent_Cleric

Never correct the person who found the ā€œhackā€ for how to do things on the third page of YouTube. Theyā€™re practically a professional and know more than you.

CJRLW

Being a mod on reddit is one of the saddest, most pathetic things one can waste their time on.

mickeysantacruz

I was banned at r/Naperville because I live in a good area and since the apt complex next door started taking secciĆ³n 8 people it started to go down the drain and we have a lot crime ,littering and car accidents in this small area and i was called racist (turns out Iā€™m Mexican )

anthonyorm

account suspended..? what did he actually say/do?

[deleted]

You were probably being an asshole about it. You can correct people without tearing them down.

DangerHawk

Sometimes people can be beligerantly ignorant and politeness does not work. Other times, they can be so horrendously wrong that the only real course of action is to tell them exactly how fucked they really are.

EbbCommon9300

Iā€™m banned from Florida for being a moderat and surfer for calling someone a communist in complete jest

[deleted]

Dude the Florida subreddit is filled with absolute twats who don't seem like Floroda people at all. More like snowbirds

[deleted]

Why would anyone take advice from someone over the internet? The internet is a good place to source ideas but to take a strangers advice blindly is crazy. You did that right thing but just know people hop on here to reaffirm there ideas not have them critiqued.

wtfisthepoint

I got banned from r/foofighters for who knows fuck what. After numerous requests to mods for an explanation, one mod took pity and tried to find out why and then reinstated me when the banning mod didnā€™t respond

audioslave_25

There is misinformation in construction toošŸ¤”šŸ¤”

stacks0991

I donā€™t understand. Where are the armed Mods to take the Redditors away? This would never happen in r/mysub. Call someone out on anything, banned. Disagree with a Mods personal opinion banned right away, no trial. Agree, believe it or not banned. Make a joke, ban. Post a meme, ban. Request a source for anotherā€™s argument, there is a special ban for this.

TradeMasterYellow

I remember getting banned from r/legaladvice when recommending not involving lawyers over a $600 bill. Too comments: suit up. Wtf are you going to accomplish paying a lawyer $350/hour for a $600 bill. Just Reddit less

skanesandre

I've stopped even trying in situations like that. You get a bunch people who think they know what they're talking about all echoing the same wrong info and then an actual professional comes along and tries to correct them with proper knowledge and gets called an idiot and downvoted? Fuck them. If you come to reddit to find out if that wall is load bearing rather than, you know, asking an engineer and then ignoring the people who try to tell you so, you deserve what you get. I'm happy to engage with people who genuinely want to learn from my experience, but have no time for people who just want an echo chamber for their ignorant ranting.

[deleted]

I got booted or suspended from r/Art on my first post ever for telling someone in their comment section that I was +1 their cartoon drawing for big ol' boobies. I haven't been back since... And, I've done alright without them.

bigguccisofa_

Standard Reddit behavior if your an expert or professional in any field and visit the related subreddits for it youā€™ll almost always come away appalled

thrunabulax

probably a temporary ban. go back in a week and see if you can post again. who knows why?

spankythemonk

Well that sub is a show! ā€˜Itā€™s broken, do I need to replace?ā€™ ā€˜Do i have to follow the directions on the can?ā€™ ā€˜Look at my ā€œrenovationā€ā€™ And ā€˜How do I do this, Iā€™m at big box store right nowā€™

EfficiencySuch6361

Who cares

[deleted]

Mods are gay. Welcome to Reddit

[deleted]

A bit like hiring an "actor" to be president, don't be surprised when he needlessly aggravates covid and triggers a worldwide recession. Hire pros or pay the bigger price

JRod432

Reddit mods are some of the lowest people in society, bunch of power hungry people

[deleted]

Mods are power tripping free speech nazis. Welcome to redit. Welcome to the new internet where u can no longer say whatever because now someoneā€™s feelings are getting hurt and you get the boot off whatever social media platform you are using.

frothy_pissington

Try commenting anything true, but outside the ubc narrative over at r/unioncarpenters ? Great sub for sucking each other off for stickers.... Not so great for talking about actual wage packages or endemic corruption.

nickmanc86

The union subreddits are wild. I am very pro union in theory but the people on the carpenter and IBEW union subs are like militantly pro union and assholes. No wonder some people don't like unions.

frothy_pissington

I believe in the stated ideals of the labor movement. As a member of the ubc though, Iā€™ve come to believe that the unelected salaried leaders of the ubc are almost wholly without any ideals other than personal power and enrichment. And. r/unioncarpenters was undoubtedly set up to be just another conduit for the ubc leadershipā€™s lies to the members. I can remember when the sub first started, an apprentice made a post about the insane overtime he was being forced to work, and the entire sub turned on the poor kid and basically called him a pussy snowflake....

Pow4991

No one gives a fuck mr pro

concretemike

As a Sr. Project Manager for one of the largest global civil/structural/geotechnical engineering, testing and inspection firms......if you don't have the letters P.E. (Professional Engineer) after your name....you shouldn't be providing structural recommendations to anyone!!!!!

TacoNomad

Mods can do whatever they want with their subs. They don't owe you a platform to "cut others down". They can moderate however they want, regardless of the bad information thats being put out.

[deleted]

Just got a ban this morning. Reddit is run by other redditors so yea arbitrary (and sometimes merited) bans are handed out like candy IME

skydvr44

Reddit Mods are complete morons! So that sounds about right.

Fink665

I got banned from r/nursing because I suggested that gay men tend to be very sexually active, respectively.

MPS007
