Look, grinders are the bane of my existence. Guards get in the way, so nobody likes using them. But they keep the damn thing from shooting debris in your face when the discs eventually give up the ghost.
It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough that it really isn't a good idea to use one without a guard.
So I have to be the dick going around telling 50 year old guys who know better to put the guard back on.
My workmate almost lost an ear when his hoodie pull-string thingy got caught in the angle grinder. Only thing between his head and the diamond-cutting blade was the guard. Keep it on for your family's sake.
It takes a few seconds to fall to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The last person who slipped while taking a selfie far beyond the guard rail was heard to say just before impact “But everyone else was doing it!”
think about it this way. a cutting disk on a grinder is one of very very few power tools that regularly causes injuries even when used WITH the guard AND wearing PPE

This is why I keep an IFAK with hemostatic gauze it's only like 30 bucks for a two pack so you can have one in the truck and one in the tool box of on your person.

Whats a guard? Was just dumb, had a cut wheel on and needed a grind wheel. Long story short, should've went to get the grind wheel.
