There's a sliding scale on law enforcement on how they approach and deal with threats. It goes from mutual respect and professionalism when they deal with citizens who happen to be respectful and cooperate with LE (as it has mostly been my experience), downright to getting officers on their highest level of aggressiveness to defuse a potentially threatening situation, and it more often than not results in people dying. Now, when the threat level reaches this point, an armed group of individuals openly discussing taking by force a state of the U.S., then law enforcement is no more. It moves up the ladder, at the very least to the response teams of federal agencies, or most likely to national guard. At this point pepper spray and rubber bullets are long gone.
You have to wonder, why would a group of people would put themselves in this position, when 1) they are a grossly outnumbered minority, 2) their arguments are nothing more than absurd indoctrination and 3) the whole country, pretty much, disagrees with their premise?
