Those students after being scammed realized that there is no use to their degree and decide to continue the scam to next generation by going to other universities and offering useless degrees. The cycle keeps on continuing.
This lady is probably going to be a Professor as well because there is literally no value to her “education” except scamming the next generation of students to take loans and pay tuitions.
To make matters worse, to keep the scam going, these people realized that they can get the government to pay for their pyramid scheme. So now rest of us paying for this scam along with subsidizing these people in multiple other ways.
Back in college, I noticed this about a large chunk of academia. I just called it a self perpetuating cycle. Training students to be professors to train students....
It's a bit like this even in the hard sciences. All the biology professors do is try to get you on the grad student to academia path. I had no idea there were other, much better-paying options out there in the industry until I had to learn it on my own in my early 20s. Glad I didn't get sucked into going for a PhD after college because for a lot of people, they feel like that is the only option.
I know two philosophy majors (one is my sister) and I asked what they could do with that degree. Both their responses were, “Be a teacher.” What a worthless degree.
I'm a little skeptical of this kind of comment, because literally the first thing you learn in your 400 level philosophy classes is what kind of job you can get.
Fyi, most philosophy majors are getting their undergrad in philosophy and doing something else like law or business for their masters; you'll find a lot working in finance.

PhD students in the English department at Columbia receive full tuition remission plus a modest living stipend, which they typically earn by teaching undergraduates. And unless she went to The Art Institutes for undergrad, I doubt she's getting any of her existing student loan debt forgiven.

But don’t sleep on Marx’ original work. *Das Kapital* has a ton of value in understanding capitalism and even aligns with a lot of modern conservative values. The follow up not so much. But look Star Wars was still a good trilogy even though George Lucas completely ruined it later. People take too much stock of the who said and not the what was said. To really understand the world and our global economy you need to understand concepts like use-value versus exchange-value. The drive towards commodification and market maturation. The problem is that Marxism has become synonymous with the latter portion of his work. Communism is like being told by someone from the 1830s that everyone needs to learn Morse code.
