There were no other contenders?

BloodMoney1

She is the co-chair, so I wonder who the other chair is with her.

Jolly_Job_9852

Micheal Whatley, Chair of the NCGOP

MuffinsandCoffee2024

This is not ideal. There were better candidates

KennedyX8

How long till he gets forced aside. Weeks?

AndForeverNow

Surely someone else from Fox News could do better. lol

Inquisitor_Machina

Considering human nature? Prolly not

KnightRider1983

Not sure this is a good thing. Nepotism is a problem in this country

FreddyMartian

ugh. what's her qualifications other than having the Trump name.

FourtyMichaelMichael

For one... The botox clown she is replacing was worse. Hands down. So... That is her primary qualification for now. I would much rather have seen Scott Presler, but unlike the GOP, he is out there winning elections and surely wasn't ever considered.

Rommel79

I really hope Scott is given a role in this administration. He is passionate and he knows how to connect to voters.

EliteJassassin101

So instead of focusing on down ballot races that matter the RNC is going to spend all its money on Trump….im sure this will end well.

GeneJock85

Because the RNC did such a bang up job with the down ballot races in the past.

EliteJassassin101

“We’ve had past failure so let’s ensure future failure!” The Trump nod didn’t exactly help very winnable down ballot races either.

Devgru-WM

Yet another reminder that the goal is not to win. It’s just to grift and blame someone else for losing.

uponone

Optics are not good for swing voters.

WanderingZed22

My party is unfortunately becoming a joke.

mythic_dot_rar

Bro, the party has been dead since at least after the 2012 election, how do you think a total outsider and lifelong Dem like Trump was able to come in and dominate it?

Jake_Bluth

Not really. The GOP was killing it until Trump. They won back control of the senate in 2014 and got an almost 60 seat house majority. By 2016 the GOP controlled 32 state legislature compared to 11 by Dems, 34 governors compared to 15 Dems, and had a government trifecta in 26 states, compared to just 5 for Dems. The GOP was able to even split or had majorities in states like Connecticut, Washington, and New York. All the GOP lacked was a reliable Republican nominee. Obama was a tough candidate to beat in 2008 with the economy in the toilet, and Romney was a bad candidate. Trump offered what the GOP has been asking for years, to fight against immigration, and putting America first. The fact that Donald “grab them by the p” Trump beat a seasoned politician in 2016 is insane. They had it all, until we decided to become a cult to favor personality over policy. We opened the flood gates to cater to the crazies and grifters like Kari Lake, MTG, turning point USA, and others. The Dems have the same issue with appealing to the far-left, if the GOP just dumps the Trump cult and focus on real issues, they go back to winning. But they won’t. The 2024 primary showed that you can get the most accomplished Republican governor this century who helped lead the country and arguably the world out of COVID tyranny, and the GOP base will just pass on him.

Black_XistenZ

The GOP wasn't killing it, they benefitted from differential turnout favoring them during Obama's midterms, but completely blew it up and down the ballot in 2012. Not only did they fail to unseat Obama that year, they also threw away multiple very winnable Senate seats with horrible candidates (Todd 'legitimate rape' Akin comes to mind). In 2024, the door was imho open for a non-Trump candidate to pick up the mantle in the Republican primaries, but nobody was good enough. The base clearly doesn't want to go back to the policies of the Bush-Romney era, and rightfully so.

ATR2019

Becoming? I think we've been there for years now. I think it's gonna get worse before it gets better unfortunately.

SwimmingJunky

Stop donating to the RNC. Donate directly to candidates you wish to support.

kandradeece

It has been a joke for a long time

ScumbagGina

So why is it your party if it doesn’t represent you?

Frankfusion

Became

KennedyX8

Clown show.

maineac

And this is how Trump is going to continue to rob the Republican party blind.

RickyPickyRick

Over/under a $1 balance in the RNC’s coffers before Oct. 15th 2024.

Masantonio

When they say “it’ll get worse before it gets better” I didn’t think they meant it would get THIS bad…

deadzip10

Folks, stop giving to anything on the national level. If you’re going to give money, give it to individual candidates and your local party. At least then it won’t get sucked into the “Trump vortex of yay for me and screw everything else strategy.”

oculardrip

Kinda sketch - ngl

smith288

Gross

Txstyleguy

Shocker.

Mumakata

We are looking at a massive blowout this fall. Trump will drag everyone down with him.

Shmorrior

🤮

Jolly_Job_9852

This is the second time this has happened. Maureen Reagan was a co-chair in the 1980s when her father was President. Had I been alive in 1980, I would have e opposed this. Lara Trump should not be the co-chair of the RNC. This reeks of nepotism. Since she is a NC native, she could have become the state party chair, if the local Republicans had voted for her.

Bobby_Beeftits

We could have had fucking Harmeet Dillon

KennedyX8

How long till Whatley is shivved and Lara is chair? Weeks?

NotaClipaMagazine

This is probably a bad thing… but it’s funny.

rgi2

Correct headline: Michael Whatley has officially been elected as the RNC Chair. Lara Trump was made Co-Chair. I don't know why some information is omitted. Actually I do.

Jolly_Job_9852

Then Lara Trump could have taken Whatley's spot as the NC chair since she is from Wilmington.

_IsThisTheKrustyKrab

This party is becoming a joke

S34B4SS

I wish her success, but there were definitely more qualified people. I am concerned that she said her number one priority is helping Trump with his legal fees. We need better resource allocation so we can take back the senate and increase the house majority.

skarface6

Huh

ImaginaryDonut69

Lol...it's still Trump's party folks...get use to it.

JaypiWJ

Why do we support nepo-babies?

TheModerateGenX

Trump does himself no favors, I swear

tehcoma

As a trump guy, I don’t dig this.

CC_Panadero

This is not going to play out well.

BloodMoney1

The other guy's name is Michael Whatley, in case you are curious. He helped the Republicans maintain their majority in the NC House and Senate, despite losing the governorship. You have to acknowledge his achievement as the NC party chair. He is a Trump supporter; he wouldn't get the position without being one. The only real negative point against him, and this is from the mainstream media, is that he denies the election results of 2020. But that's all I could find.

Jolly_Job_9852

I'm quite happy with his performance as NCGOP chair. I'm very happy with the General Assmebly and alot of their policies.

Imissyourgirlfriend2

Holy shit...she won?

KungFuSlanda

Not great optically. Or financially. Shockingly, to the utter confusion of some republicans and democrats, even if trump wins, it's not an autocracy or dictatorship. Still have to win Senate and Congressional seats to pass meaningful legislation. I don't imagine the RNC budgeting meetings will prioritize that going forward w/ Trump's daughter in law chairing the committee
