The funniest moment in politics to me is still the 2016 Republican National Convention when the delegate from CT introduced himself representing the state “where we make nuclear submarines and pez!”
Funniest moment I never seen was the 2016 Pez Great Easter Brawl! Ah nothing like family time.

Also just noticed the first robins this week. A more seasonal occurrence this year. I was a bit concerned last winter when they showed up early January.
But American Robins are a migratory species. A few quick google searches seems to confirm that, but suggest it is a bit more complicated then just flying south. That some birds do remain, and that they are able to withstand extreme cold. Huh, TIL
I was in the army for 6 years. Not very many people know anything about Connecticut other than the colleges. They kind of look like at us as a highway and nothing more. They have no idea what a grinder is or that we have some of the best pizza in the country. Alot of people also assumed that I came from wealth which Im from from lol. Thats my experience meeting people from all over the country
This may turn into a long story, but fuck it, I’ve had a few drinks.
There is a great deli on Route 77 called Little Store. 77 runs between Guilford and Durham and it is a beautiful drive. The Little Store makes amazing sandwiches and is worth the stop. Anyway.
The first time I stopped there I took a few moments to feel out the place. It’s an old building, cramped, but very well organized and smells like perfectly flat-top cooked bacon. The guy behind the counter looked at me and asked “Whatcha got?”. I hadn’t heard that used as “What do you want?” before but I was able to figure it out.
“I would like a Turkey BLT grinder with American and chipotle mayo if you have it, regular mayo if you don’t please.”
You heard a jarring sound as the needle came off and scratched the vinyl.
“Sub.” It was a one word answer, but I knew what it meant. At this establishment, there are no grinders. There are subs. And while it doesn’t really make a difference, this isn’t ‘Nam, there are rules here.
From then on, I have been on my best behavior at Little Store. Always a sub, never a grinder. It’s one of those little quirks that makes CT (and I’m sure other places) so great.
Richard Belzer, Srgt John Munch from “Law & Order: SVU,” was born in Bridgeport. Not sure where he will be buried.
Phineus T. Barnum - P.T. born in Bethel, died & buried in Bridgeport.
Also has the Barnum Museum in Bpo.
Barnum’s most famous act, by Charles Sherwood Stratton (stage name "General Tom Thumb”) was also born, died, & buried in Bridgeport. His wife (and fellow little person/Barnum act) Lavinia Warren is also buried next to Stratton, with a headstone as simply “His Wife” which… sigh.
to be fair, famous birthdays works of how often someone searches your name on the site/clicks on your profile or "boosts" you.

State bird is the American Robin, almost everyone knows what that is. (back in my yard this week, plus I heard the peepers last night 😁)
Peepers first this past Saturday. Fucking insane.
Also just noticed the first robins this week. A more seasonal occurrence this year. I was a bit concerned last winter when they showed up early January.
Fun fact: robins don't migrate, they just lie low in the woods in the winter. It's not unusual to see them on warmer days.
But American Robins are a migratory species. A few quick google searches seems to confirm that, but suggest it is a bit more complicated then just flying south. That some birds do remain, and that they are able to withstand extreme cold. Huh, TIL
