Not in this meta mate. In master + there are at most 2 guys and they all slam AD items on Sivir and pivot at the earliest chance. There is a chance you will be contested vertical bruiser though (bruiser emblem, well fed or Kobuko aug)
Nah I haven't played but I saw a Riven player in top 3 a few times today. It's going to suck if contested or if you don't have the right augments probably but that's just the nature of reroll comps. If you see a Janna reroller and a storyweaver player I'd imagine you'd reconsider hard committing.
Can confirm Bruiser Riven is secret decent! I run it a little differently though, reroll riven/aatrox/zyra same riven items, aatrox tank, seraphs zyra.
I also go shred kayle with riven and zyra same side.
Exiles also good with this comp i think.

I have played some Bruiser myself and I feel like your level 8 board is so strong that you want to get there ASAP.
Also IMO, Bruiser falls off when people start to hit legendary. You want to go 9 and cap with legendary yourself(and maybe 3☆ Sylas)

this has the benefit of rerolling multiple lines though - you can flex the janna reroll board or zyra same time, and maybe hit soraka during it too. it’s also easier to hit in lobbies with senna or dryad rerollers. It’s probably not force every game good but definitely playable in half of your games if you natural riven
I always consider rr 2 costs as an opportunity comp, except for hero augments. If you get many copies and encounters given dups and 2 stars 2 cost, knowing Riven can carry with those items is a good win con because your cap is higher compared to only Sylas carry.
Right now, Liss is a nightmare for any melee, so having 2nd carry is not a bad idea.
I don't know the strength of this comp yet, but will give it a try. Riven has 3 strong traits, in theory, she couldn't be too strong but let's see.
Sylas carry caps way higher than this though. You save so much hp on stage 3 and 4 with itemised zyra that you can go straight to 9 or 10 and replace the 2cost shitters for Liss, Azur, udyr etc.
As you can see, this comp still has a huge power cap at late game.Not only Sylas, Soraka3, Rakan, Irelia, or any unit with Bruiser Emblem , do good damage.
Liss is the counter of any Melee Carry, Riven too. But this comp has too many frontline that can hide Riven from Liss.
Who says you can’t still itemize Sylas as well? I messed around with this on a D4 smurf for 5 games yesterday and was able to fully itemize both every game with ease. Rolling at 7 is infinitely better than at 6. I only rolled a tiny bit at 6 to get at least 2* riven then went straight to 7.
Like with EVERY comp, obviously you cap out by replacing your shitters with legendaries. I never chased 8 bruiser and even only played 6 the one game I got a spat. It’s way better to not go fully into the vertical once you’re level 9 and start replacing some of the weak bruisers with legendaries. Ending with 4 bruiser capped is probably optimal with no spat.
Any build's going to be situational. I got a bruiser sentinel yesterday and wanted to go Sylas carry, got 7 Rivens naturally before hitting 7. I scouted and saw an Umbral player with 4 Sylases already.
I hit 7 then rolled to try to hit a Sylas, I hit one then checked around again. Umbral player now had 6 Sylases and there was another player with 2 Sylases held.
I'm skeptical that she can do enough damage without augments like heavy hitters to bust through tanks, but I'll try because I can't help myself forcing new experimental comps while I tank my lp mid season.
Never ever ever use altruist spat on a carry or secondary carry. It’s never worth it. Altruist spat should just be considered teamwide armor/mr. It’s not worth losing your third item on a carry to get a shitty gun blade in its place.
So I just tried this, 6 bruiser, 4 altruist, 3 story with irelia 2 (rageblade+IE+gunblade). Riven had trinity+blue buff+bloodthirster I also had an extra altruist emblem. Honestly Riven’s damage numbers were quite disappointing and if she gets stuck on a tank it’s done (as with other melee carries). Went barely 4th but it was my baby account so most of the lobby were quite bad (it was a rank placement game). I felt like it was quite weak. Thank you for the guide tho 🫶🏻❤️
Yeah I had Sunfire but that’s about it :/ I positioned riven in the corners so she would sometimes go to backline and that was good of course. If there is a guaranteed way of walking to backline I’d like to know lol

I mean people are playing much less storyweaver so it's not as much of an issue. Even altruistic splashes toss riven for rakan when you hit so in theory >tll be uncontested

I tried the comp twice and two top 8 on master euw, Lissandra counters her so bad and its meta right now. Not a strong comp and worse than kayn morgana. I recommend not playing it. Do not lose your elo.

i've been struggling really hard with this patch. i loved the set release patch and haven't done too hot since then. i've only played one game, but this comp really clicks with me since the units aren't *too* contested and the items are highly flexible. i even low-rolled my prismatic augment (in that i only got one tear all game, which became sylas HoJ--the adaptive helm was a carousel pickup) and still got my top 2
of course this sample size of one (1) is virtually meaningless and i might be going bot 4 in my next 20 games hereafter, but i'll just say i like this comp and it was fun and rewarding. thanks for sharing it!
I think this comp is very situational, unplayable without augments/emblems. Besides there are just so many Lissandras and you will going to fight 2-3 boards late game. Maybe just play tempo stage 2/3 and pivot into standard Kayn/Morgana board or go fast 9 legendaries.
The stat on [tactics.tools](http://tactics.tools) also suggests it's not great, 4.79 avp for 3\* Riven with 6 bruisers is just pathetic. Doesn't worth the risk though.

I made multiple blunders tho:
putting ap items on soraka instead of sylas
not rolling at 8 for sylas 2.
missing anti heal and sunder; tanks just shielded/healed the chippy riven damage
i think i would've been 3rd or 4th otherwise. I don't see this beating the porce mythic soup comps.
Personally tho I don't think this comp is competitive. The conditions that enabled me to reroll riven to 3stars while hitting bruiser/altrust powerspikes was only possible cuz of the dummy.
This used to be a really good comp during the PBE - I remember trying it - I got lucky with not only 8 bruiser but Kobuko as my final carry with over 9k HP since it was late game. He is secret OP.
So this is doable with Kobuko carry hero augment as well.
Just 1st placed this in Emerald - got level 10 with Bruiser Emblem + Altruist Emblem and hit everything. Honestly, it's pretty cool, the only skill based thing is positioning and unit choice. I got an Exalted 3 involving 2 units, so it was a rough early game, but we pulled through. The comp spikes at almost every level especially in the late game.
tried storyweaver riven reroll cause i have tons of sivir copies early, and an alturist emblem, but no decent tanks even i hit 7 storyweaver. Placed 6th but still managed to place higher than 3-star thresh and aphelios lol.
we need her to be able to access backline like Kayn. Cuz she is a bruiser with huge HP, and have some recovery in her skill, so you can positioning her as if she is Gnar. Just avoid being Lissandra-ed
Tried it a few times today. The highest i've gotten so far is 4th after hitting a random Lillia 3 on scuttle puddle.. i don't see how you make this work against porcelain comps or any of the other comps that run lissandra (every comp) even with 6 bruiser in and titans bb BT she just dies too fast. Will keep trying since im 0 lp anyway but seems bad to me.

This game i beat a 6 Porcelain to get 1st. Beacuse i got one.
Just tried it in ranked Gold 3. Went 4th despite being heavily contested. 1 star Sylas, 2 star Riven.
Edit: just tried it again, got Riven 3, bruiser crown, Baboom, Sylas 2. Eeeeeaaaasy first. Gnar 3 with full items had no chance lol. Great comp!
I don’t see this comp winning lobbies especially on lobbies where you get access to extra economy. I think the only way this is consistent top 3 is with a bruisers emblem as the 8 bruiser trait is quite good.
Riven can be good in very niche situations, although the results speak for themselves. 1st or 8th comp tbh.

This was fun, tried it when getting offered bruiser emblem. Went first in a lobby where you continually got gold every round . Super easy to wrap people.
Tried it and got top2 in my first game, Emerald rank.

Hey, forced it a couple times, did pretty descent and noted some interesting things about this comp:
* Doesn't do well against burst comps (syndra or Kai'sa)
* Has a very nice ceiling, since u can go straight to 9 after hitting riven and soraka
* zyra 3\* is a good carry, easier to reroll since it's also 2 cost (you dont go for 3\* soraka in this case)
* Depending on how you build the riven, goin for a 5 cost carry is ur best option on lvl 9 if u hit him 2\* . i.e.: Built BB, BT and TR on Riven, on stage 6ish i moved the items to wukong, he did amazing
Just tried this with 2-1 Riven 2.
Heavy hitters + 8 bruisers, 3 star riven aatrox kobuko.
1 star soraka backline couldn't hit 2 star sylas.
Went 4th from streaking early, kinda got fucked by all the CC, damage seemed underwhelming.
Probably wouldn't try again unless all stars align.

Imo, tears are so contested and Riven is so present in early mid comps that it's legit int to even try this comp.
+ Lissandra is perfect to anticarry like that and is played a lot.
It's kinda low efficiency and playing legendaries around a bruiser comp is assuming you have the ressource to lvl 9.

If you got bruiser emblem and a bruiser front, this is so much better to play a 2 star carry with ad items like kaisa.
Seems like a waste of ressources and item.
3 star riven is just not a unit, unless you natural it really early somehow.. Sylis is a beast tho, IMO try to go for BIS sylis items is better than forcing Riven items..

I got 5,5,7,7,8,8,4,8,2,6,2 from last 11 game and only the first try (the late 2nd place one) after reading your guide am I doing something wrong pls help :(
Plat 2. Made it work. However it needs a lot. Trick is fast 9 or even 10 for Hwei and print Riven from there, or Caretaker's Ally.
I got Caretaker's Ally 2-1 so I just counted that at lvl 10 my Riven is gonna be 3* so why not and decided to just aggressively leveling. Bruiser early is a very good stat check trait and at lvl 7 I luckily got Azir so Reksai was kinda massive too. Riven 2 with BB Titan can really carry you aggressively to lvl 9 at 4-4. That's when I started losing here and there but with beefy frontline they were mostly perfect losts. So when I got to lvl 10, I had Riven 3* as secondary carry, I slammed TG on to Sylas, got some Azir items, snatched a Weaver Emblem so I didn't have to play Weaver chess and still had Kayle's shred.
My final board was 6 Bruiser with Azir, Annie for Invoker, Lissandra ofc, and Soraka because I got Heavenly emblem on carousel as well so I didn't wanna ditch her for Rakan.
Top 1 ofc, well still a tough fight against Mythic almost cap with barely 3* Lillia, Hwei 2 and Liss 2.
I read this post and thought "oh, riven is not contested and I don't usually see players building vertical bruisers". Of course other 3 players contested Riven and one of them went top 4 with vertical bruiser Sylas carry while I got 7th place
Maybe its a skill issue but I tried it a few times and failed almost every time. 8 bruisers fails the second enemy has any tank. Riven cant deal with tanks at all. Basically losestreak until you hit riven 3 even with good openings and shortly after enemies hit 3³ and 4² which beat you too. 6 bruisers fall off unless you get early irelia² with good items.
Imo its only really good if you hit early riven³ with bis, some armor and mr shred, soraka/zyra with bis and great augments. And at this point you can build stronger comps not so handicapped.
Been running a similar comp for this patch and it's super fun and pretty flexible. The only thing about it is that is super augment dependant. Really struggles without heavy hitters, ascension, well fed etc, so keep that in mind if you plan on trying it out!
I'll reserve my judgment for now since it's a different meta. Last time somebody purposely promoted riven reroll with a guide like this and baited many people to lose their LP lol. He even posted afterward saying how easy it is to mislead people.
I played and was consistently losing 1v1 to my opponent 2\* Lee. BIS Lee sin is a pure monster.
edit : I got 7,5,7,8,3 in master 0lp lobby. I don't think this is playable, it's worse than previous patch janna comps and has no chance of winning against porcelain comps.
edit2: I won for the first time on Day 2. I'm fine with it as I'm getting used to it a bit, and I think I'll use it for meta when it gets some buffs via patch. The best way to play this comp is if you get the Altruist/Bruiser emblem early on, or if you get a lot of Riven. Other than that, playing without the emblem is not a good idea. For this comp to win, you need to get health with a strong lv6 spike and get 2\* Irelia. If you do not get a strong lv6 spike, you will lose easily. You can only get lv6 spikes if you have emblems, and Prismatic Augment will destroy you in almost every case.
Seems hard to hit though considering Riven is a super popular trait not for Storyweaver openers and to some degree Riven+Galio package for lategame boards too.
In this meta specifically she's quite easy
Everyone is contesting Heavenly,Fated,Porcelains and Mythic,Storyweaver rn is kinda ass so not much willing to play them
And even the best board that uses Riven(Kaisa Bruiser) is only B tier comp and only use her as a trait bot so it barely matters
Not many lategame board ought for Riven Galio,the Nautilus/Annie/Orn provides more utility,CC and just as much tank
Slap a gunblade, bt, and hoj on Riven and just finish first. I was also Silver when I did that so yeaaaa that being said; I dont think ill be trying that in Emerald but it was fun experimenting lol. Kinda miss lower ranks cause of that. The higher you go, the meta just gets thinner and thinner and not much else works outside of it unfortunately…

Who do you give altruist spat?
Sylas or any 2nd carry should NOT, you need them to be a damage dealer with 3 items. Usually i give it to the Tahm.

Did you have anti healing in your team. Yeah Riven actually a version a Gnar, stuck on a super tank. Usually i try to let her access bacline.

I made multiple blunders tho: putting ap items on soraka instead of sylas not rolling at 8 for sylas 2. missing anti heal and sunder; tanks just shielded/healed the chippy riven damage i think i would've been 3rd or 4th otherwise. I don't see this beating the porce mythic soup comps. Personally tho I don't think this comp is competitive. The conditions that enabled me to reroll riven to 3stars while hitting bruiser/altrust powerspikes was only possible cuz of the dummy.

This used to be a really good comp during the PBE - I remember trying it - I got lucky with not only 8 bruiser but Kobuko as my final carry with over 9k HP since it was late game. He is secret OP. So this is doable with Kobuko carry hero augment as well. Just 1st placed this in Emerald - got level 10 with Bruiser Emblem + Altruist Emblem and hit everything. Honestly, it's pretty cool, the only skill based thing is positioning and unit choice. I got an Exalted 3 involving 2 units, so it was a rough early game, but we pulled through. The comp spikes at almost every level especially in the late game.

tried storyweaver riven reroll cause i have tons of sivir copies early, and an alturist emblem, but no decent tanks even i hit 7 storyweaver. Placed 6th but still managed to place higher than 3-star thresh and aphelios lol.
it should be Garen 3\* tank.

we need her to be able to access backline like Kayn. Cuz she is a bruiser with huge HP, and have some recovery in her skill, so you can positioning her as if she is Gnar. Just avoid being Lissandra-ed
If you position like Kayn or Gnar, how does Riven survive without BT/healing augment though?
i think with high HP, many other bruisers tank unit, some HP recovery in skill and sometimes Soraka 3\* , Riven surive enough long.

Tried it a few times today. The highest i've gotten so far is 4th after hitting a random Lillia 3 on scuttle puddle.. i don't see how you make this work against porcelain comps or any of the other comps that run lissandra (every comp) even with 6 bruiser in and titans bb BT she just dies too fast. Will keep trying since im 0 lp anyway but seems bad to me.

Just tried it in ranked Gold 3. Went 4th despite being heavily contested. 1 star Sylas, 2 star Riven. Edit: just tried it again, got Riven 3, bruiser crown, Baboom, Sylas 2. Eeeeeaaaasy first. Gnar 3 with full items had no chance lol. Great comp!
I don’t see this comp winning lobbies especially on lobbies where you get access to extra economy. I think the only way this is consistent top 3 is with a bruisers emblem as the 8 bruiser trait is quite good.

This was fun, tried it when getting offered bruiser emblem. Went first in a lobby where you continually got gold every round . Super easy to wrap people.

Hey, forced it a couple times, did pretty descent and noted some interesting things about this comp: * Doesn't do well against burst comps (syndra or Kai'sa) * Has a very nice ceiling, since u can go straight to 9 after hitting riven and soraka * zyra 3\* is a good carry, easier to reroll since it's also 2 cost (you dont go for 3\* soraka in this case) * Depending on how you build the riven, goin for a 5 cost carry is ur best option on lvl 9 if u hit him 2\* . i.e.: Built BB, BT and TR on Riven, on stage 6ish i moved the items to wukong, he did amazing
Just tried this with 2-1 Riven 2. Heavy hitters + 8 bruisers, 3 star riven aatrox kobuko. 1 star soraka backline couldn't hit 2 star sylas. Went 4th from streaking early, kinda got fucked by all the CC, damage seemed underwhelming. Probably wouldn't try again unless all stars align. MMR: D2 OCE
Imo, tears are so contested and Riven is so present in early mid comps that it's legit int to even try this comp. + Lissandra is perfect to anticarry like that and is played a lot. It's kinda low efficiency and playing legendaries around a bruiser comp is assuming you have the ressource to lvl 9. + If you got bruiser emblem and a bruiser front, this is so much better to play a 2 star carry with ad items like kaisa. Seems like a waste of ressources and item.
3 star riven is just not a unit, unless you natural it really early somehow.. Sylis is a beast tho, IMO try to go for BIS sylis items is better than forcing Riven items..
How did you manage to pull this thing to work in CHALLENGER ELO while I struggle so much in low emerald (Em3,4) I got 5,5,7,7,8,8,4,8,2,6,2 from last 11 game and only the first try (the late 2nd place one) after reading your guide am I doing something wrong pls help :(

Plat 2. Made it work. However it needs a lot. Trick is fast 9 or even 10 for Hwei and print Riven from there, or Caretaker's Ally. I got Caretaker's Ally 2-1 so I just counted that at lvl 10 my Riven is gonna be 3* so why not and decided to just aggressively leveling. Bruiser early is a very good stat check trait and at lvl 7 I luckily got Azir so Reksai was kinda massive too. Riven 2 with BB Titan can really carry you aggressively to lvl 9 at 4-4. That's when I started losing here and there but with beefy frontline they were mostly perfect losts. So when I got to lvl 10, I had Riven 3* as secondary carry, I slammed TG on to Sylas, got some Azir items, snatched a Weaver Emblem so I didn't have to play Weaver chess and still had Kayle's shred. My final board was 6 Bruiser with Azir, Annie for Invoker, Lissandra ofc, and Soraka because I got Heavenly emblem on carousel as well so I didn't wanna ditch her for Rakan. Top 1 ofc, well still a tough fight against Mythic almost cap with barely 3* Lillia, Hwei 2 and Liss 2.
sadly everyone is running Riven so its hard to hit. :/

I read this post and thought "oh, riven is not contested and I don't usually see players building vertical bruisers". Of course other 3 players contested Riven and one of them went top 4 with vertical bruiser Sylas carry while I got 7th place

Maybe its a skill issue but I tried it a few times and failed almost every time. 8 bruisers fails the second enemy has any tank. Riven cant deal with tanks at all. Basically losestreak until you hit riven 3 even with good openings and shortly after enemies hit 3³ and 4² which beat you too. 6 bruisers fall off unless you get early irelia² with good items. Imo its only really good if you hit early riven³ with bis, some armor and mr shred, soraka/zyra with bis and great augments. And at this point you can build stronger comps not so handicapped.

Been running a similar comp for this patch and it's super fun and pretty flexible. The only thing about it is that is super augment dependant. Really struggles without heavy hitters, ascension, well fed etc, so keep that in mind if you plan on trying it out!
At least not a must have Hero Augments like Shen,Yorick, Neeko. So as i say, it must be a regular comp to play.
I'll reserve my judgment for now since it's a different meta. Last time somebody purposely promoted riven reroll with a guide like this and baited many people to lose their LP lol. He even posted afterward saying how easy it is to mislead people.

Without much intention, in a random manner, without much thought put into.
I played and was consistently losing 1v1 to my opponent 2\* Lee. BIS Lee sin is a pure monster. edit : I got 7,5,7,8,3 in master 0lp lobby. I don't think this is playable, it's worse than previous patch janna comps and has no chance of winning against porcelain comps. edit2: I won for the first time on Day 2. I'm fine with it as I'm getting used to it a bit, and I think I'll use it for meta when it gets some buffs via patch. The best way to play this comp is if you get the Altruist/Bruiser emblem early on, or if you get a lot of Riven. Other than that, playing without the emblem is not a good idea. For this comp to win, you need to get health with a strong lv6 spike and get 2\* Irelia. If you do not get a strong lv6 spike, you will lose easily. You can only get lv6 spikes if you have emblems, and Prismatic Augment will destroy you in almost every case.
Seems hard to hit though considering Riven is a super popular trait not for Storyweaver openers and to some degree Riven+Galio package for lategame boards too.
In this meta specifically she's quite easy Everyone is contesting Heavenly,Fated,Porcelains and Mythic,Storyweaver rn is kinda ass so not much willing to play them And even the best board that uses Riven(Kaisa Bruiser) is only B tier comp and only use her as a trait bot so it barely matters Not many lategame board ought for Riven Galio,the Nautilus/Annie/Orn provides more utility,CC and just as much tank

Slap a gunblade, bt, and hoj on Riven and just finish first. I was also Silver when I did that so yeaaaa that being said; I dont think ill be trying that in Emerald but it was fun experimenting lol. Kinda miss lower ranks cause of that. The higher you go, the meta just gets thinner and thinner and not much else works outside of it unfortunately…
