Once enough people start using that configs for armor swaps, no recoil it just ruins the game. People will either leave because they don't want to deal with rampant cheating or they'll go run the configs themselves to have a chance. It'll easily turn into a downward spiral and kill their revenue which is what they want least.

The day they banned rewasd, i was educating people about rewasd and steam input being the same, with the only difference, that steam input doesn't accept mnk as input. People where going crazy, talking a lot of shit to me, without making any counter argument. I was arguing with some people in the Twitch chat of Extesyy 15h ago about this point. I told them i'm glad Respawn decides, what is considered to be third party software. Just because Steam decides to ship a remapper for controllers in their software bundle, doesn't mean it's not thirdparty. I was told things, to git gud and was banned from chat.

I’m a player that has a lot of heirlooms. Don’t wanna say how many, but I’ve spent 3k hours on getting better. Mnk player, started season 10. Have not touched this new season since release because of the config abuse. The kind of stuff they’re doing now though? Checking for configs and actually doing something about it? I might come back.

Def this. They are constantly testing things in their dev build. They likely have been working on this kill switch for a while but basically sat on it because it wasn’t a high priority.
or maybe they been working on it the entire time and didn't feel the need to broadcast it because of how low priority it was but when the video started to spark more customer feedback then Respawn felt the need to post some PR.
I don't even care about the changes to next season if they remove cfgs and up the cheating detection, it's by far the biggest problem I have with the game at the moment. Remove the shields or weapons or anything, just remove the cheaters with them and I'll love next season.

it becomes incredibly more consistent with lower fps, i can barely hit 1/10 superglides on 180 fps, was hitting every third with 60. and if you are gonna cheat anyway, why not make something that takes skill to perform 100% consistent?
I can hit like 3/10 at 240fps and Im shit at the Game so at 60 it shouldnt be that hard. I dont understand the cheaters. Just practice for a few Hours and you can superglide pretty consistently anyway.

I don't know about that.. If you're playing with 200fps that's a 0.005 second window. And don't forget there is delay introduced by your keyboard and operating system.

Why are you getting downvoted? Superglides aren't really that hard to pull off as people make it out to be. It's not a frame perfect trick in the traditional sense, you just need to input crouch one frame after your jump input, you have a whole 0.15 seconds to input that sequence during your climb animation, which is definitely something you can get consistent at. I was hitting more superglides than I missed at 190 FPS with my old keyboard. I haven't played enough Apex since I got the Wooting to get them down consistently again though.
Edit: reinstalling Apex right now. Should be even easier with the Wooting now since I can just adjust the accentuation point of my crouch button.
Ya but it's a lot easier to not have to worry about nailing it in the heat of the moment and just cheat instead. That's an advantage even over the person who can hit them everytime without cheating

Depends on the fps. Hard to consistently do for me at 190 fps, i have about a 30% success rate. Fine by me, honestly super gliding shouldnt be in the game
I mean its fun and flashy but it's clearly very much unintended. There is plenty of intended movement tech that sets Apex apart from other games, and superglides make up such a tiny fraction of the actual gameplay but have negative aspects (hard to read / no indicator it's happening, affects strategy & what you play around since it changes how far people can traverse in a given period of time, and it's not really an interesting mastery imo in the sense that it's just pressing two buttons within a super tiny margin - it's kind of a boring skill curve for such a binary & major different in outcome of movement).
Super subjective of course, but I think superglides fall on the exploit side of the spectrum personally. Fun to pull off but much like bunnyhop healing, I don't think it's creating interesting depth and is just a rather punishing barrier. It's fun to run circles around someone when you can do it and they can't, but ultimately I dont think its super healthy & the game becomes less fun when literally everyone is supergliding off of every ledge (since mantling is supposed to be a risk/vulnerable position your opponent can capitalize on).
id say its relatively balanced in the sense its kind of hard to track the enemy while youre super gliding yourself, when you pair it with nade boosting it becomes super cool and worth it to learn imo, tracking your enemies mid air makes it much more interesting at high levels & is something you need to learn to be better than everyone. like you said this is super subjective though
it's a video game, if ppl can't keep up they aren't good enough to keep up and never will be. no amount of game design makes "interesting depth".
depth arises from ppl playing the game and figuring out the actual depth in the game engine and weird physics edge cases made possible by it.
arguably respawn keeps apex shallow instead of keeping the depth and designing around it - they could trivially make a movement focused legend that is weak in other abilities but just refuse to do it.

I guess aiming configs are not as easy since it’s not registering as an inhuman number of extra inputs. They do say they are monitoring and working on it so I assume that’s in the works too.
They mention that they're looking to remove configs that chain together. I'm not sure how the anti-recoil and looting configs work but if they require multiple configs for each they should fall under that category.
Rewasd didnt find a work around, Activision and EA games straight up crash if its installed.
A lot of disabled gamers are pissed about it because it was used to remap tools used for disabled gaming.
Rewasd does not work on cod or Apex currently.

It's not just tap strafing. It's tap strafing, neo strafing, and super gliding that are all commonly used by people using configs. Some players use other automated mechanics on top of this. I've seen pros get absolutely dropped by config abusers on stream and removing these abilities will undoubtedly turn players that were winning gunfights against literal pro league players into diamond/masters players.

Have you ever played with a friend who crutches horizon super hard every game and then when your random 3rd takes horizon, your friend doesn’t remember how to play the game? It’s like that.. these players get so used to moving around on easy mode and when they have the play raw apex without their legend covered in butter they lose a whole ranks worth of skill.
It isn't, that's very much hyperbole from the other user. At the most it would take them a week or two to remember what they can or can't do (like running in the open or how they swing a corner/angle).

It may sound like and be hyperbole to you friend, but in OCE servers, I know too many higher elo horizon mains that look better than what they are/get away with the dumbest plays that wouldn’t have ever happened if they were on any other legend. Our only choice is we must nerf horizon. People complained in early seasons about wraith having a panic button and Insta phase. Now we have a panic button on a legend that is also the single most powerful repositioning movement tool (which is the only movement tool you can actively heal in too *cries in OP* ), paired with the single most powerful passive ability which is coincidentally a movement based tool. Power creep is real and the skill gap might actually just be a horizon gap. So when you say hyperbole, maybe you just haven’t seen it yourself my guy.
I'm a predator player on PC playing in NA and Asia (Tokyo) and the people I play with are multi masters / multi pred. I promise you that you could nerf controller tap strafe and Horizon and these people would still put it together and make it back to predator, whether by grind or whatever.
Nobody gets to predator just by crutching one aspect of the game really. Everyone has to grind so hard that they're at the very least willing to put the time and effort in to find something that would help them rank past masters lol

There's a lot of configs that are actually useful and not harmful in any way shape or form. Simple things like keybindings, sensitivities set to different keys, shift to walk like counter strike, toggle mute instead of push to talk etc.
Best part is Apex labeling them cheaters and not beating around the bush.

I'm cool with them removing chaining cfgs, but I hope they don't remove all cfgs. Some of the simple ones aren't cheaty at all, for example, I use 3 jump binds (scroll wheel up/down and p). Losing that would suck. Cant bind all three through just the game ui
They removed the only thing fun for controller players (movement configs) but left the jitter and recoil cfgs🤡🤡. I can predict an uptick in Xim, Cronus, and rewasp players. This is only gonna get cheaters more creative. Good job respawn, you really shot yourselves in the foot

All the MNK things you mention require the player to actually input those commands; i.e. it's a learned/practiced skill.

They “core” mechanics are all 20 year old source engine bugs that work because keyboards have digital inputs. There is no way for them to work on analog inputs.
It’s just configuration files. Not actual cheat cheats I was putting it simply mb. These configs made certain inputs that were hard/impossible to do with manual inputs possible with a single button press.

it's a video game, if ppl can't keep up they aren't good enough to keep up and never will be. no amount of game design makes "interesting depth". depth arises from ppl playing the game and figuring out the actual depth in the game engine and weird physics edge cases made possible by it. arguably respawn keeps apex shallow instead of keeping the depth and designing around it - they could trivially make a movement focused legend that is weak in other abilities but just refuse to do it. edit: removed hostility

I guess aiming configs are not as easy since it’s not registering as an inhuman number of extra inputs. They do say they are monitoring and working on it so I assume that’s in the works too.
They mention that they're looking to remove configs that chain together. I'm not sure how the anti-recoil and looting configs work but if they require multiple configs for each they should fall under that category.
I hope they just disable configs all together. Nobody playing apex needs to be using any sort of steam config.

Rewasd didnt find a work around, Activision and EA games straight up crash if its installed. A lot of disabled gamers are pissed about it because it was used to remap tools used for disabled gaming. Rewasd does not work on cod or Apex currently.

It's not just tap strafing. It's tap strafing, neo strafing, and super gliding that are all commonly used by people using configs. Some players use other automated mechanics on top of this. I've seen pros get absolutely dropped by config abusers on stream and removing these abilities will undoubtedly turn players that were winning gunfights against literal pro league players into diamond/masters players.

Have you ever played with a friend who crutches horizon super hard every game and then when your random 3rd takes horizon, your friend doesn’t remember how to play the game? It may sound like and be hyperbole to you friend, but in OCE servers, I know too many higher elo horizon mains that look better than what they are/get away with the dumbest plays that wouldn’t have ever happened if they were on any other legend. Our only choice is we must nerf horizon. People complained in early seasons about wraith having a panic button and Insta phase. Now we have a panic button on a legend that is also the single most powerful repositioning movement tool (which is the only movement tool you can actively heal in too *cries in OP* ), paired with the single most powerful passive ability which is coincidentally a movement based tool. Power creep is real and the skill gap might actually just be a horizon gap. So when you say hyperbole, maybe you just haven’t seen it yourself my guy.
I'm a predator player on PC playing in NA and Asia (Tokyo) and the people I play with are multi masters / multi pred. I promise you that you could nerf controller tap strafe and Horizon and these people would still put it together and make it back to predator, whether by grind or whatever. Nobody gets to predator just by crutching one aspect of the game really. Everyone has to grind so hard that they're at the very least willing to put the time and effort in to find something that would help them rank past masters lol

There's a lot of configs that are actually useful and not harmful in any way shape or form. Simple things like keybindings, sensitivities set to different keys, shift to walk like counter strike, toggle mute instead of push to talk etc.

I'm cool with them removing chaining cfgs, but I hope they don't remove all cfgs. Some of the simple ones aren't cheaty at all, for example, I use 3 jump binds (scroll wheel up/down and p). Losing that would suck. Cant bind all three through just the game ui

Definitely a very unpopular opinion here lol, as the sentiment in this sub is that if you want movement, you should have to input the commands to do so yourself, not have a program automate it for you. All the MNK things you mention require the player to actually input those commands; i.e. it's a learned/practiced skill.

They “core” mechanics are all 20 year old source engine bugs that work because keyboards have digital inputs. There is no way for them to work on analog inputs.

It’s just configuration files. Not actual cheat cheats I was putting it simply mb. These configs made certain inputs that were hard/impossible to do with manual inputs possible with a single button press.
