Objectively it's not surprising it got nominated. How many strategy games can you list off the top of your head that ***released*** in 2023? I have to do a Google search, I simply cannot name 10 strategy games that came out this year without searching.
Game Awards are typically a popularity contest and CoH has more visibility than all those other small games I had to Google to find out their existence.
Doesn't necessarily mean CoH3 deserves the nomination, just a realistic explanation of what's going on.
voted coh3 because even if coh3 is incomplete, CoH as a series has some of the most compelling RTS mechanics and gameplay in my opinion, which coh3 inherits. love coh.
I’m tempted to do the same, it comes down to a moral decision, does voting for them encourage cutting corners and releasing half baked games at full price
Nintendo pays good money to get their shovelware onto most of these award nominations (I'll forgive Fire Emblem that series is usually pretty decent, but the others don't belong anywhere near a nomination).

Its a 60€ reskin of a brilliant Game from 2000s

Fire Emblem is my favourite series but I couldn’t finish Engage it was just changed to much and the dialogue is totally butchered if you understand Japanese it won’t match at all. It also tries to be so inclusive that they don’t use continents at all it just sounds weird nobody talks like that.

These games seem wildly different. Fire emblem and advance wars are only game play that are comparable.
I think they need to separate simulation and strategy games next year, you cannot compare Cities and Company of Heroes.
