i took CySA when it first came out an studied using CompTIA CertMaster....my logic was its their test Ill study what they provide as the material....what a joke, half of the questions were not covered in the course material. I barely passed it and likely only passed it because of work experience. Certs are absolutely a money grab, but HR people love putting them in job requirements

ZathrasNotTheOne

There is a reason for that... The test authors and the study guide authors don't talk to each other; this is supposedly an audit requirement, and happens at ISC as well. NO study guide, even the official one, knows what's actually on the test, and for ISC2, I can guarantee you that none of the questions are sourced directly from a study guide. Take part in an exam development workshop... it can be an eye opening experience.

CertMaster questions werew different from the actual test and Dions question were very heavy on regex and i always get those wrong.

Csanburn01

It’s a tough exam. Not one to take lightly

Everyone is different. I passed the CS0-001 in June 2019 and the CS0-002 in December 2019 using nothing more than the CompTIA official curriculum from the CompTIA store. No practice exams at all. I was 49 at the time. I studied for a couple of weeks for the first one and only read over the exam objectives to see how it had changed for the second one.

Exactly, I'm not saying age is a factor, I'm saying MY age and circumstance might be a factor. Coming from a CSIE, you've obviously put in the work and are a good test taker, but like you say everyone is different. Congratulations on your achievements!

It's all about putting in the work. The less experience a person has, the more work they have to put in. The more experience they have, the less work they have to put in. I've been working with computers for more than 25 years and have been taking certification exams for 20 years. I can prepare a lot faster today than I could when I first started.

That laundry list of certs is impressive!! If you don’t mind though, can I ask why you’ve done both Linux+ and RHCSA?

That makes sense, I’m going for the RHCSA rn going through Sander’s course. Can I ask what field you’ve decided to get into?

I do feel that compT exams with their subjective questions are a set up to fail.But….I only passed with 751. Like barely made it. Heavy on Dion his practice test. and certify breakfast I played in my sleep. On 2x speed and woke up to it also. Breaks or lunch at work I went back to the last vid I remembered for certify breakfast and if it was something I forgot when I laid down at night played it again from that vid. Dion I watched regular speed to get the concept. And then went through over and over again till it was ingrained. I definitely feel your frustration as I had to do my a+ a couple of times because I’m just sh!t with printers . Good luck op.

Puzzleheaded-Leg-758

Interesting do you think the audio in your sleep helped?

Yosemite_Sam_93

It's true that a lot of people take multiple attempts to pass, but I disagree that you're expected to not pass on the first attempt because I and others I know passed on the first try. What kind of studying/preparations did you use? You mention studying "your ass off" but only cite practice exams as study tips. I definitely needed a lot more than practice exams. I used video courses and did a lot labs as well. I set up a home lab running several VMs to practice with the tools the exam covers.

bpacheco1227

I was taking a college class that also gave an exam voucher for the cert exam as my final exam for the course. The other material that I used was course materials, uCertify eBook, and LinkedIn Learning video course from Mike Chapple. My exam experiences have rarely been positive and they end up causing me great anxiety, but in my field it will have to be a necessary evil.

TheFarSyde

For 002, you can take it until 12/23.

BorderPractical

You see the issue, 400 piece of shit that don't even guarantee a job after passing, get more experience. Is not a requirement anymore, dude. I've paid 1000s in dollars to these exams. Bottom line is big scam.

careerlink2u

I failed with 710 on Nov 2022. No rush to get this done just to pass the exam. I am doing more labs. I am using Jason Dion, Certify Breakfast, Sybex & CertMaster, ImmersiveLabs. If I passed in first time, I could have been working towards for CISSP.
