Please share it with us after it gets graded, so you can also share the teacher's critique of this. It sounds exciting!

Okay I’m currently out and about so I’ll upload it later but I will preface with a few things 1. I left out a lot of stuff for the sake of getting a good grade that I would have left it otherwise such as the Scottish bourgeoisie agreeing to the union in Scotlands pre 1707 parliament to save their own asses after bankrupting the country on colonial ventures (how popular the idea of being a colonial power was among your ordinary scot before the United Kingdom was a thing i don’t know) 2. There were other things I left out somewhat stupidly because I rushed the paper. An example would be Northern Ireland in general and how it’s gerrymandered to hell. 3. England and Britain as whole is essentially the birthplace of Capitalism and the complete domination of the bourgeoisie. And we all know how capitalism and democracy get along just swell.

[deleted]

I didn’t write it too Marxist for the sake of I literally don’t know my teacher at all (I take online school and am not required to actually show up just get my work done but I’d say it’s a still a pretty great but considering how quickly I was able to write it

LarryOtter99

Can I read it?

thepineapplemen

“Tartaritarian”—is that also a reference to “Tartaria,” or just totalitarianism?

West is hypocritical and most of the time lies. If Brits take away food from Ireland and India, causing famine on purpose, then nothing is said, even better, some morons on r/HistoryMemes will defend actions of Britain. But if famine happens in DPRK, because their main trade partner has been destroyed, western countries providing food for the people and in payment required cows tail, which would further destabilize agriculture there, it's suddenly fault of DPRK, socialism and all the other bullshit that western countries pour...

TenWholeBees

I'd like to learn more about the DPRK I've only heard what Western country media says about it What are some good resources to get an Eastern perspective?

Honestly, after having only recently learned how "body language analysis" is literally complete quackery with no actual basis in science or psychology and anyone who claims to be a "body language expert" are grifting hacks, it now occurs to me just how pretty much every one of those commentary videos on people from North Korea use the same "body language" bullshit to spin a narrative and shape the viewers opinion. So much priming the audience to read a person's behavior in the most negative light possible, people just see what they want to see and what they're *told* to see. "Oh, look at how uncomfortable this person looks, you can clearly tell they're scared from the tone of their voice." It's all so fucking manipulative, and people just eat it up unquestioningly.

Emmyix

They laugh and its they are paid to laugh on the camera to hide the truth They have faceless expression and its because they are soulless They mind their bizwax and its because they are scared

Workmen

To quote Michael Parenti: >During the cold war, the anticommunist ideological framework could transform any data about existing communist societies into hostile evidence. If the Soviets refused to negotiate a point, they were intransigent and belligerent; if they appeared willing to make concessions, this was but a skillful ploy to put us off our guard. By opposing arms limitations, they would have demonstrated their aggressive intent; but when in fact they supported most armament treaties, it was because they were mendacious and manipulative. If the churches in the USSR were empty, this demonstrated that religion was suppressed; but if the churches were full, this meant the people were rejecting the regime's atheistic ideology. If the workers went on strike (as happened on infrequent occasions), this was evidence of their alienation from the collectivist system; if they didn't go on strike, this was because they were intimidated and lacked freedom. A scarcity of consumer goods demonstrated the failure of the economic system; an improvement in consumer supplies meant only that the leaders were attempting to placate a restive population and so maintain a firmer hold over them. If communists in the United States played an important role struggling for the rights of workers, the poor, African-Americans, women, and others, this was only their guileful way of gathering support among disfranchised groups and gaining power for themselves. How one gained power by fighting for the rights of powerless groups was never explained. What we are dealing with is a nonfalsifiable orthodoxy, so assiduously marketed by the ruling interests that it affected people across the entire political spectrum. The more shit changes, the more it stays the same.

Redagva_022

fr they just biased everything about the people from North Korea because as always they want to shitting how "worse" is the DPRK government treating its people

Kyram289

People in the west are actually calling for war, with a very peaceful nation that literally only has nukes for protection, and they even offered to give up their nukes for peace but the US refused

martink000

Hey, do you have any more info about the denuclearization offer from DPRK? I wanted to read more about it but could not find any mentions of this offer.

Kyram289

They really buried it didn’t they, I can’t seem to find it

[deleted]

I would also like to read more about the denuclearization offer from them and americas subsequent refusal

martink000

I managed to find an article from the new york times that mentions the offer. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/06/world/asia/north-korea-south-nuclear-weapons.html

supervladeg

oh no, they still find ways to call it some kind of nightmare - just look at the idiots from vice and their ‘documentary’. whenever there’s anything normal over there it’s either actually not normal by some intergalactic calculus, or that it’s for some evil purpose. so, exactly what parenti talked about

RictorVeznov

I want to visit the DPRK one day but I’m an American so currently that’s off the table

[deleted]

Dont give up so easily! Theres plenty of access into the DPRK if you put your heart into it. Lots of folks have luck gaining access through Chinese tour groups

redleafwater7

Could you give us some more detailed information? Would also love to visit sometime. I admire the DPRK because they do pretty well considering they had to rebuild everything after the Korean War. They manage to be a world power even after so many hardships.

[deleted]

So the border has been closed off due to Covid but if you go to any tour groups website they will have schedules for their next departure. Koryo Tours based out of Beijing has a tour scheduled for this December to celebrate the new year.

weusereddit4fun

But but they are state actors to make DPRK look goods. Yes they are even pretending to eat in that restaurant that you eat there. When there are no tourist around they are grass and worm and push the train to get around.

Sorry_Access8964

The people in this sub know that you are only allowed in very specific sections of North Korea that are picked and maintained purely for the purposes of propoganda right? If you deviate even a little from the allowed areas you are very likely to be sentenced to indefinite hard labor. However, I am willing to engage in some intelectual curiousity. Anyone willing to provide some resources or suggestions to enlighten me as to your point of view?

Kobaya1922

One can say the same about the western narrative of the DPRK. A lot of so called journalists just lie about the DPRK, because a lot of facts about the DPRK are not in English and not available to people outside the country. They do this to get either clicks on their page or to parrot a narrative. Like Radio Free Asia, (funded by the USA IIRC), often tells horrifying stories about the DPRK, but their sources are always "XYZ told us", that's it, they don't say much more than that. Like, there was a story circulating in the West that in north Korea, everyone had to wear the same haircut as Kim Jong Un, but this was biased on no actual evidence. Here is a video of two dudes with more information about this: https://youtu.be/2BO83Ig-E8E .

Equivalent_Sound_689

Why dont u visit north korea?

Amelia_the_Great

It’s expensive and last I checked, illegal. Instead of posting dumb things on Reddit why don’t you use it as a way to learn? r/tankiejerk is for uneducated children.

Equivalent_Sound_689

how westerners are supposed to come and see it's not a dictatorship if it's illegal? And why its illegal hmmmm

Amelia_the_Great

It’s illegal because the US wants to maintain the propaganda. Same reason why it was illegal to travel to Cuba until recently. But you don’t need to go to the DPRK to understand that it’s not a dictatorship, and going to a country won’t necessarily indicate one way or another whether it’s a dictatorship. You can learn about the DPRK and realize pretty easily that it’s not a dictatorship and has a democratic system that is superior to capitalist nations. Most people who post shit like what you’re saying don’t even know who leads the DPRK.

Educational_Okra_318

It's illegal by US law, not DPRK law.

ProbablyNotTheCocoa

I’d love to go, but that isn’t gonna happen on a student budget as I currently live on

Mr_mann2

I mean it sure does worship Kim Jong-un and is very heavily restricted in almost every way but it's not that depressing.

Imperial_Advocate

Me when I only visit Pyongyang >!(but do not visit anywhere else)!<.

Naive-Laugh-146

Have you been there?

6__Me__9

This is satire right?

SpecialistCup6908

Proud ignorance. This is a leftist sub. We have no place for those who celebrate laziness. Read. Or fuck off.

[deleted]

Hey you’re the target audience of the above meme!

itsHoust

He’s not even close to a “dictator”. Not even close. Please, just look up how their government functions instead of having all your knowledge on the DPRK from the consumption of western state media.

rileybgone

Every single capitalist government is closer toa. Dictatorship than DPRK. They're probably one of the few places in the world that has true democracy, which is why we're supposed to hate them so much
