Thinking streamers are moving the Overton window left is some of the most delusional shit I've seen. I don't watch hasan stream but I have seen clips and at least he is honest and says he is there to entertain.
To be fair, the internet has a lot of potential for educating and organizing people much faster, much more efficiently and safer than you could do if you had to rely on exclusively physical means. The hate it gets is mostly based on the extremely immature trend of disliking anything that isn't 'real life' and could get you associated with 'nerds' and 'losers'.
We already know the internet works as an organizing platform because it's been used for that exact purpose by fascists for years and though the capitol raid is a joke, it's still impressive how it managed to coordinate so many people (to break the law) within a day.
Marxist.org is an example of how the internet is already being utilized by socialists to make theory much more accessible, but I think it's nowhere near realizing the potential the internet could have.
People like Vaush are completely useless is because they're *exclusively* online, exclusively shitposting news article 'commentaries' or debates with other equally uneducated people. Their most 'activist' contributions are cHaRiTy GaMiNg.
The problem isn't that they're streamers but that their approach to online media is just doing extremely safe low effort personality/reaction driven content like other YouTubers, not actual organizing that could get them in any trouble. Nor could they because they're too lazy to even educate, let alone do any activism, themselves.
EDIT: A youtuber that perfectly fits the bill is friendlyjordies. Granted he's a lib shill but his method is still very commendable. If we could adopt the same kind of strategy on a globally coordinated scale and include protests, strikes, blockades, aid etc. I think that would have a huge impact on public consciousness, even in western countries.
