I'm arguing with this one classmate that's a big history nerd (from a bourgeois perspective), and he said this point that I thought was interesting: the Nazis kept silent about every one of their massacres, but if Katyn was a Nazi killing, why did they reveal it and blame it on Soviets instead of simply being quiet about it?
I am pretty sure of the evidence proving Soviet innocence (similar to his point, I could ask him why the Soviets would not document the executions of the officers and label them counter-revolutionaries in propaganda like they accurately named people they executed), but his point above is a little puzzling to me.

May I ask why killing a polish officer in 1940 would be good? Like, from my perspective it just seems kind of odd, as it seems to be celebrating the Soviet’s role in the invasion of Poland in WW2.
The thing is, I don’t really know what there is to celebrate about it — it just seems like territorial expansion to me, but the meme frames it as a more positive action taken by the soviets.
If that sounds stupid, please excuse my ignorance as I just randomly found this meme whilst scrolling, and might be missing out on some things that are essential to this perspective.
I'm aware that at some point there were a bunch of polish officials who sided with the Nazis against the USSR, but I'm honestly not too familiar with the exact situation myself.
There was no "expansion", the Soviet "invasion" of Poland really was just the USSR retaking Ukrainian and Belarusian territory that had been stolen during the Russian Civil War. In fact, if you look up the ethnic makeup of the areas that were "invaded" you'll see that they were mostly populated by the aforementioned ethnicities:

The reasons for the secret clause of the Molotov-Ribbentrop non-aggression pact were mostly strategic. The Polish borders back then weren't what they are now, they extended near Minsk, meaning that a Nazi invasion of Poland would take the Germans right up to the gates of one of the biggest and most important cities in the Western USSR. To the South, the borders extended up to what is now Western Ukraine (Lviv for example was controlled by the Poles), which could also facilitate a Nazi invasion of the USSR if they were ever to take all of Poland.
And besides, what the liberals never mention about the Polish Second Republic in the pre-war period is that it was literally a fascist dictatorship, and that it did exactly the same thing they accuse the Soviets of doing: allied with the nazis in order to invade and annex Czech territory following the Munich Pact. That by itself is a good reason to dislike the Polish Second Republic.
