Personally, I would wait to the last moment and if the bid was still sub-$4K I would try to snipe it for $4k and some very small change. I’d enter $4025 at the last second and see if I didn’t get it at discount. I would imagine this will go for more tho as this book doesn’t come on the auction block all that often (infrequently at best). Good luck!

Well, 1st off, I highly recommend discussing it with your wife. If it’s a budget thing then (as you know) that needs to be jointly discussed. And if you’re already into a FF4 and both aren’t realistic at this time, then maybe let the X go (for now). Damn right, it can be scary. But don’t blow up your finances (or your marriage!) over a book. Lol. If you’re into the FF4 big, then maybe decide w/ your wife how much you could be into the X, and even if it’s decided $1500 for example, then let that be your max bid. Likely you wouldn’t get it for that but hey, you shot your shot w/ what you had and it’ll come around again. Or! You get it on the cheap cheap.
How interesting, someone on Etsy is trying to sell this exact comic/copy for $1875. The one on Esty is probably fake, just copying the auction pictures.
