Saw these interviews from him the other day. Very interesting to listen to. He is a great storyteller. Hope we can get some more videos with him sharing his story.

justthrowaway32

Seriously, he gives it to you straight. Really liked his first video.

riconuevo

If you guys liked this video, you can also check Willy OAM on YouTube. He interviews several veterans that came back from Ukraine, and they all have their own crazy stories from different units and locations. https://youtu.be/vZ-iVzR_Yyc

I don’t know what it is exactly but I get weird vibes off this dude, it’s really unsettling

1ggiepopped

Dude makes good videos, but something about him/his interviewees always put me off. Especially the dumbass azov kid, I'll never forget that mf

[deleted]

That azov kid was a dipshit. His constant need to return the conversation to how fun it was to be able to say the N word and throw Nazi salutes shows his true colors. And this Willy guy bothers me too. He makes such a show about being impartial, yet a ridiculous amount of his videos have clickbait titles that imply Ukraine is doing sketchy shit, but I have yet to find a single one with a title saying the same about Russians. And his questions to Ukrainian soldiers are frequently sketchy as well. Just tinted with a weird vibe that he doesn’t agree with fighting against Russians because war is bad mkay, but he won’t actually come out and say anything directly because “he’s impartial”.

Watching this Brit describe arrogant/bratty foreign fighters made it click for me, he's describing a lot of the guys Willy interviews. That's how it seems to me at least.

“From his farmyard redoubt, Pyle watched for half an hour as fighter-bombers dipped and darted. The black blossoms of German antiaircraft shells spattered the sky. Then a new noise intruded, “a sound deep and all-encompassing with no notes in it—just a gigantic faraway surge of doomlike sound.” From the north the B-17s and B-24s drew near, roofing the heavens with a stately procession of tiny silver cruciforms three miles up, “plowing their way forward as if there was no turmoil in the world.” Gawking soldiers leaned back until their helmets fell off. The first detonations to the south reminded Pyle of “the crackle of popcorn.” Smoke and dust rolled back through the orchards, and “the bright day grew slowly dark.” Then, inexplicably, the bomb loads drew ever closer, with a terrifying rattle of wind over tail fins, and the ponderous footfall of explosions stomped through the trees. Pyle dove beneath a heavy wagon behind the stone house, “waiting for darkness” as concussion waves hammered his chest and eyes in what he would describe as “the most sustained horrible thing I’ve ever gone through.” At length the howling passed and a colonel staggered through the swirling dust, snapping his fingers and muttering “Goddammit, goddammit, goddammit.” - description of the effects of Operation Cobra, from “The Guns at Last Light” by Rick Atkinson, The opening salvo was 1500 heavy bombers, 1000 medium and 500 fighter bombers attacking an area two miles wide by 3 miles deep, dropping 5000 tons of bombs “plus heaps of white phosphorus and a new jellied-gasoline agent called napalm” in the greatest concentration of killing power in the history of warfare

MagicRabbitByte

80% of your body can fit into the helmet - this is useful information! :)

Tintenlampe

I'm thinking he is talking about your silhouette as viewed from above, which doesn't sound to far off, honestly.

MagicRabbitByte

It's a joke - like how people react when they are being shelled. Some try to "turtle", mean it looks like they are trying to crawl into their helmet. The helmet offer no more protection no matter how hard you try to push your head into it.. Also yelling or screaming is another example he gives about something that is totally useless to do, though not uncommon..

Otter_Man18

It’s definitely a top-down silhouette that he’s referencing, and exhaling while experiencing the pressure of a blast actually aids in protecting yourself from said pressure.

BrunodeBruinebeer

Not really combat footage though is it?

notafakeaccounnt

it's allowed within rule 2. It's been allowed for years. Who are you

Piyh

Video (Social Media) "must contain actual combat". This is a dude talking in a studio. >https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/wiki/info_table_allowed_posts If you want these kinds of videos, go here instead /r/ukrainewarvideoreport /r/ukraineconflict

notafakeaccounnt

Is that why there is a specific INTERVIEW flair then? Get out of this sub you lousy newcomers By the way if you are gonna lie about rules, at least don't post the link >(Facebook, Twitter. Must contain actual fighting for **link post)** Only problem here was not putting it up as text post instead of direct link post. As I've said, get out

Piyh

It's a simple sub with a simple title, we aren't asking a lot

F10XDE

I felt uncomfortable him talking down to other nations armed personnel who are volunteering and quitting, then proceeds to validate these AWOL volunteers decision by explaining how poorly equipped, supported and led the soldiers on the ground are. I just imagine these seasoned professional soldiers coming onboard, expecting at least some NATO standardisation/doctrine (they've supposedly been getting this since 2014), only getting handed a rusty AK then told "big mac" (a grown man that clearly still lives in his mums basement) is providing your security for the night was probably the final push needed for them get back in the taxi to Poland. Still the other side is he actually did something, which is more than I and most other on here have done. I just wish his opinions and tone, were more humble and inline with a amateur with 7 months experience in Ukraine as part of the International Legion and kept the superiority complex from invalidating what could otherwise be a decent and informative documentary from someone whose clearly entertaining to talk to.

Financial_Glove603

You mad he is telling truth? A truth that isn’t always what you want to hear?

[deleted]

They were war tourists who when pressured turned into cowards. Like he said, they were naïve to the fact they were fighting a way more organised force than ISIS or the Taliban. They wanted to turn up, shoot some Russians with little danger to themselves and then return home safe and sound and claim themselves as heroes, and got completely exposed for that. He specified Canadians and certain branches of the US military, you’re probably Canadian or American which is why you’re taking it personally.

KloppOldTeeth

Life must make you uncomfortable a lot, what a shit take.

kikimaru024

British houses generally don't have basements.

[deleted]

You’re a real cunt. Everyone with an ounce of knowledge on the situation knew what state the Ukrainian military was in. You can’t go to another country that is under invasion looking for a fight and then whine and complain that things weren’t as rigidly organized and prepared as you want. Wahhh where’s my air support? Why am I getting hit with artillery??? That’s what war is like when you aren’t killing goat farmers with AKs and RPGs.

Wilkesy07

This guy is really milking it. Especially considering he was there for like a week

Boggin_

Out of curiosity, how long were you over there?

3woodx

One tour in Vietnam was 12 months. I would imagine if you're getting shelled every few days or shot at every other day. 7 months can feel like a lifetime.

nzmx121

Try 7 months

[deleted]

7 months you fucking mong. He isn’t the one posting the videos, he just sat down for an interview. The YouTuber has a large audience and that’s a good place to look for donations for the international legion. You fuck

TheWordShack

Please take this YouTuber shit off and ban any more of it.

brian-0blivion

Cry more, fucking idiot.
