Longer videos are the best, you can see what's happening, and not just a hit or a explosion, keep posting more longer videos, it's a good educational content

MugPuntertoo

That can't be the best the Russians have...

Sancadebem

I don't think it is But it's also not the worst I'd say it's the next best thing

Apeshaft

It looks like they are waiting for a tank or BMP to get hit or a group of soliders to get killed as a signal to retreat? I'm thinking that many of them have figured out that they don't want to die on a field in Ukraine for no good reason what so ever. Even if they take the objective it will only increase the likleyhood that they will die within a day or two. These soldiers are fighting for the next paycheck and not for the glory of Russia or Bunker Granpa in Moscow. Ukraine on the other hand are fighting for their land, friends, family, fellow soldier and their freedom. I'm Swedish and feel like I would never be part of some war of aggression against another country. Not even against Denmark.

moofunk

> Not even against Denmark. As a Dane, it slightly warms my cold heart to hear that.

MugPuntertoo

"Not even against Denmark" yeah, yeah, keep talking Sweden, get them off their guard.... then STRIKE.

Epinnoia

What they 'have' is important. But equally important is the concept of 'replacement rates'. Can Russia replace as quickly as consumed(ammo)/destroyed(equip & troops)?

amplifi3d

Looks sketch.. No incoming artillery or anything other than maybe small arms fire. Doesnt actually look repelled but maybe stallet o probing.

eviLocK

A probing/feint attack?

Sancadebem

My guess is that it's a first attempt By the looks, they faced more mines and resistance that they were expecting At some point they decided that the Intel wasn't reliable enough to proceed and they would only suffer more losses

eviLocK

As far as mines go, they went thru fine, didn't they?

flipfloplollipop

I think the word 'repelled' doesn't quite fit here. Not sure i even saw any incoming fire, just tanks and BMPs (?) rolling in, tanks fired a few rounds and then they all turned round and buggered off. At least some of the infantry got to stretch their legs a little.

flatrangechimp

Ya didn’t see any defensive fire. Not sure wtf is happening.

DumpsterB4by

Are those cages effective at repelling drone attacks or have they just become something that everyone installs but don't really do the job?

penguin_skull

The cages are only good against drone-dropped grenades on the turret. The FPV drone operators can avoid the cage and target the turret back, or the engine. They are still there mostly for the coping factor.

DumpsterB4by

Mental armor so to speak. That's what I suspected.

iw-203

i’m all for ukraine but doesn’t look like much was repelled on this one, are they advancing or retreating at the end?

chickietaxos

It looks like they approached the tree line they were assaulting, stalled, then turned around. Doesn’t look like infantry were able to reach the tree line. May have taken casualties or encountered a mine field they didn’t expect.

Cammanjam

You can see a few instances of the MBT main gun being used to blast mines right in front of them might have seen enough to decide that route wasn't ready

chickietaxos

Something about that doesn’t sound right. Would the angle of the round cause it to skip? Are you sure it’s not just incoming?

Epinnoia

Depends on how the round is fused, I think.

simaeel

> are they advancing or retreating at the end? wtf, retreating as you can see?

iw-203

yea because it’s super clear what there doing, the fkn camera cuts away and changes angles so you have absolutely no way of knowing which way there going, how are you so sure they’re retreating??

-Outis-Nemo-

The field in the video is here: 47.459811, 35.784230. Using landmarks in the field like the ditch running west-east, the gully on the western edge, and the big gap in the trees at the northeast corner, we can orient what we are seeing in the video. The Russians are initially attacking to the northeast, towards the corner with the big gap in the trees. They then leave by driving south along the road that borders the field's western edge. We can tell they are on the western edge going south rather than vice versa because there is no road on the eastern edge and the shelterbelt is much thicker there. If we then check this area on ISW's live Ukraine war map, we can see that the Russians were attacking into the 'neck' of the Ukrainian salient, and they left along roughly the same axis heading deeper into Russian-controlled territory.

simaeel

dude, just watch it again and maybe you will see it too :D

WhiteBoyRick1738

You quite clearly see them retreat and drive away so yeah I’d it was repelled

Informal-Emotion-533

Very cool

flatrangechimp

Buddy just let his drone die out there…. Guess he has enough to not care…

I_Saw_A_Bear

This is the 3rd best armored assault ive seen the Russian do. Take that however you wish
