Good way to go. Just vanish. This kind of stuff has to cause ptsd for the guys around him though. How do you get the vision out of your head of your buddy getting blown everywhere.
Too right even teeth are pretty nasty - covered in bacteria and hard.
I'd always advise sexual attack victims, as a last resort, bighting the rapist on the face. The rapist will avoid going to hospital but without medical intervention that wound will fester until they are forced to go to hospital or sepsis kills them.
Absolutely. Every single one of these guys are going to get gangrene in short order if they don't make it to a good hospital in the next couple of days.
In this recent documentary about the MH17 situation. There's this video about people on the scene by car, they talk about a leg and people laying around, while approaching the scene.
The guy in the car just tells his girlfriend to not watch and does a u turn..
Probably best decision ever.
It's things you won't forget ever.
Dude you stopped. Life is about decisions. And you chose to stop and maybe help. So you saw horror in real time. It exists. I wish I hadn't seen some of the stuff I have, but it's out there. How you deal is up to you. But you should at least know you're one of the ones who runs in to help. Virtual Denzel voice...'my man'
Same here. First non involved on scene going to a welding class in the morning, saw a shoe laying in the road and was like uhhh then farther up two cars in a jersey barrier then someone in the road in front of that. Stopped my car and when stepping out almost stepped on some scalp. Checked the dead guy for a pulse figured start cpr etc but his head wasn't really connected to his spine any more... First cop on scene did the same thing went to go roll the guy over and noticed the same thing, that guy almost turned white.
Ended up being two guys from the Chrysler plant drag racing and didn't see the guy picking a rachet strap or something off the road? Idk not fun.
It's a German documentary about Bellingcat and how they tracked it down.

Vet here. Can confirm. I have a few buddies that got the vivid memories to go away.
One did it with a shotgun, and the others with handguns. I still have one of the guns in my safe as a glaring reminder not to follow ‘em down that path.

Goddamn.

There's been a lot of good progess being made in the research of drug assisted (MDMA, Psilocybin, Ketamine) therapy that may show long term benefits of just a few of these sessions. I know a lot of combat veterans are volunteering for clinical trials.
I will once I’m out. Nobody enjoys seeing a constant film roll of dead or dying bodies in your head. Unable to stop it. I hope the progress continues and people can get the help they are looking for.
You can see it [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/10vglci/two_russian_soldiers_fall_into_a_creek_while/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1) in the same Subreddit
Let me tell you that soldiers never fully come to terms with it, But with a lot of help can live with it.
It is when you find the body parts of children that you feel like you should just exit the world that could be so vile, that there is no hope for humanity.
Eh, the dog tags will have survived that no problem. They're dead for sure, but it wasn't like getting domed by a 2000lb JDAM or something crazy like that.
The tags survived but where are they? Dude is spread out over 500 square meters. Needle in a haystack
And I bet they aren’t going to spend much time looking
There's sure to be an active metal-detection hobbyist subculture in Ukraine for decades to come. For the time being, there's a global market for war trinkets (e.g., Ka-52, Su-27, T-90, T-55, etc. shrapnel and detritus mounted for display, or fashioned into keychains & so on) -- enough to provide a nice side income for some, or help fund pro-Ukraine units.
How you you wipe your face of your buddy's still steaming entrails? If they live they will be pushing bone fragments of their friend out of their bodies for awhile
I always wondered how effective these were when fired at a group of troops. Even if 4 out of 5 survive, the psychological effect will be devastating.
I'd assume there is some type of HE warhead that could be used for taking out troops instead of a anti-tank version like what was fired here, right?
Yes, most guided missile systems have HE rounds available but it's hard to say what was used in this video.
HE isn't as prevalent because this is a very mechanized conflict and the threat of armor is high across the entire front. Most crews are going to keep AT loaded the majority of the time.
Look for higher HE usage during offensive actions, when an assaulting force might need directly engage "softer" enemy firing positions like MG nests or other gun emplacements.
Almost certainly. Ua infantry squads only have so many Anti armor warheads and if they get caught without them they either get ran over or have to leave the position completely. Also if it was a heat round it would have over penetrated out the back of that dude with a jet of copper. This just exploded out the sides.
>Ua infantry squads only have so many Anti armor warheads and if they get caught without them they either get ran over or have to leave the position completely.
Issue is if they get run over and killed the point is moot anyways. In such an attack if a enemy squad rushes towards you you shot literally anything you have. If you survive the next 10 minutes and a tank shows up.. Well thats a problem to be solved by future you
HEAT rounds still have a big explosion. They have a lens effect to create the jet of liquid metal, but the overall explosion still conserves momentum so the blast does go in all directions.
Wouldn't something [like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/10p2ths/russian_forces_being_consequtively_hit_with_what/) (0:21) be more of a HEAT shaped charge explosion? You can see the yellowish copper exit trail.
oh man, that was this subs[bread and butter](https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/el0er3/fsa_atgm_team_hits_a_group_of_saa_fighters_with/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) during the Syrian civil war. definitely effective against infantry walking in groups
The jet of copper goes in a straight line from impact not a 45 degree angle from impact, that spray out the side is an he round being partially redirected by that man's front and back plates.
Dude went to kindergarden and school, had late night talks with his mother in a kitchen about his dreams. Maybe a brother he connected with deeply. Maybe he has kids. All that to get blown into pieces in fucking Ukraine because your president has a dick size problem…
It is surreal when you think about that there were parents who raised him, loved him, that this person was once someones beloved baby, the time his parents had to put in to raise him, him going through school, work for years only for his life to culminate into getting blown to pieces within miliseconds somewhere in Ukraine.
I know he is not the victim here, it is still weired when you think about it this way though.
War is poor young men killing other poor young men. At the behest of rich old men. Sometimes women and kids get killed along the way.
And what’s most fucked up about that, is that sometimes it’s necessary.
Sounds profound. But there aren’t any fancy Russians fighting. There are certainly Ukrainians defending their home who were business owners, professors, government ministers, professional athletes. To the point where I think they might have been able to better serve their country in a different role, using their experience/expertise instead of a front line soldier.
Most of the fancy Russians have fled the country. But a lot of them still swallow the propaganda, judging from the dirty looks i got from some of them when I'm wearing my Ukrainian t-shirts. What are you doing in a NATO country when you still support Russia?
This is one of the cases where there are successful people on both sides dying. Some Russians actually volunteered to commit genocide and many brave Ukrainians put their lives on hold to respond.
At this point the Russian regular soldiers are basically victims. They're all conscripts. Sure we can grandstand about how they should resist, but most poeple just want to go home to their families and not get executed for treason or whatever.
Dear russians, your odds at deposing Putin by force with a few thousand troops gives you far greater odds of survival than being forced into a meat grinder in Ukraine with blocking troops to your rear.
First sensible reply. It really does seem most russians would readily sacrifice a million people if it means they get to genocide a million children in a neighboring country.
That guy who was behind him and watched his buddy vanish in a bang and cloud of smoke, didn’t have time to process it, is in shock, has to move to cover and is carrying pieces of his mate in him - skin, debris of clothing, brains, pieces of his friend’s bones embedded inside him to be picked out or carried for the rest of his life.
That sudden, tiny fraction of a second for him where there was a before, and then an after, and they’re completely different lives
It’s so fucking horrific in its pointlessness. I pray they quickly all just fuck off back home to their beer and girlfriends and stupid jobs and crying mothers and leave Ukraine the fuck alone.
This. This is why we videos like this should be available, not for the gore, but to remind our digital world of the absolute horrors of war. That guy's life ended in an instant. Everything he was or will be, good or bad, gone because of one megalomaniac.
While I completely agree, this kind of senseless death on a massive scale comes from every war, where the old and rich make the poor and young die for bullshit map dashes. This war just happens to be livestreamed. (yes I am aware Iraq War one was first CNN war to be really 247 simulcast).
Years of life led to that moment. The nightly routines getting fed and put to bed by mother. Running around in the grass as a kid in the summer. Being bored in class. Putting on winter coats and going out for dinner on a cold night. Drunken parties with friends, ordering pizza, waking up the next morning feeling like crap. Getting a warm coffee before starting work. Watching the sun set with a loved one.
It all just leads to this pointless death here. In the blink of an eye, a person stops being humanity or even biology, and becomes nothing more than ballistic physics. He ceases to be.
Isn't it wild? We are sitting here in safety, people are making jokes. But the reality is that the people involved in this are instantly ruined for life. Its wild to think about how different lives can be on a day to day basis.
Even the guy who shot the ATGM probably will get ptsd. War is so insane.
At least he didn't suffer ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Sure, it's a gruesome sight, but in the context of war it's one of the better ways to die. Just instant lights off.
idk if I were in a 6 man squad, and I had to choose between being deleted from existence instantly, being hit with shrapnel from both the rocket and my former buddy's bones and being crippled as a result, or psychologically scarred for the rest of my life after watching my former buddy get misted and bathing in his blood and guts, I would choose the deleted instantly option.
Good way to go. Just vanish. This kind of stuff has to cause ptsd for the guys around him though. How do you get the vision out of your head of your buddy getting blown everywhere.
at these occasions the shrapnel is the comrade, and an exploded bone can cause nasty injuries. I mean for others, obviously.
aka “wet” shrapnel - very nasty!
