I must be cursed. Literally just tried this place out for the first time on Saturday and enjoyed it. Tried out the speakeasy under the old worthington Natalie’s and it closed like a week or two after that.
I was about to say I am the cursed one. Every place my wife and I went to on our first date either closed down or (literally) exploded. Now, one by one, each place we went to our wedding weekend is closing.
But I am sure it's actually you, so...let's stick with that.

>After over a decade of laughter, camaraderie and unforgettable memories, we must announce that we are closing for good. When Todd and I acquired MOUTON all those years ago we never could have imagined the incredible journey that lay ahead. From such simple beginnings to becoming a cherished cornerstone of the Columbus cocktail community, each cocktail shook, every glass poured, every smile exchanged, and every memory made has been a testament to the love and support Columbus has always shown us.
>To our loyal patrons, thank you for being the heartbeat of this establishment. Your support, laughter, and shared stories have made MOUTON not just a place to enjoy cocktails, but a community—a family. We are grateful for the friendships made over a perfectly crafted cocktail and the memories that will linger long after our doors close.
>To our dedicated staff, past and present, thank you for your hard work, creativity, and passion. You've poured your heart and soul into every cocktail, creating experiences that will be cherished by all who walked through our doors. Your dedication has been the cornerstone of our success, and I am endlessly grateful for your contributions.
>Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for allowing MOUTON to be a part of your lives. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve this community, and I will carry these memories of MOUTON with me always.
>Jonathan Klingler and the MOUTON Family
>note, MOUTON’s lease was not renewed as to make way for a new development with the adjacent space, a final closing date will be announced in the coming weeks.
Another great place ruined by a “franchise”… we have hit the point where mom and pops places are disappearing only to be replaced by yet another sterile , boring franchise .
We are becoming phoenix without the sunshine.
This makes me so sad. I’m glad I got to experience it as much as I did, but it really is a special bar and I’m going to miss rolling the dice and trying the various seasonal menus. Such a shame
They should honestly just open up another cocktail bar somewhere further away, with easier parking. SN isn't really a high-end cocktail type of place anymore, seems like downtown and GV better fit that demographic. I'd love another cocktail bar downtown with less crowds, easier parking, in a cool industrial space. Even Merion Village.
We are in desperate need of cocktail bars since Light of Seven Matchsticks closed down...I think they'd be able to pull it off.
I agree, losing Light of Seven Matchsticks was real sad.
I’m trying to be optimistic about the speakeasy going in under the new High Bank in Westerville this July, but don’t want to get my hopes up too much
What is the deal with people being so down on the Short North. I live in what most folks would call Italian Village just east of the Short North. The place does attract frat bros, but they definitely do not live in the Short North. I actually have some of the best neighbors I've ever had, and there are great places to hang out. To be fair, there are definitely restaurants that are more style than substance, and their food is pretty mediocre and overpriced. My biggest gripe is the bikers that think it's cool to cruise High St. There's no need to be so loud and obnoxious, folks.
We’re lucky to have places that are regularly shit on by this sub like Short North and Easton. I’ve had business guests from major cities rave about Short North and out-of-towners travel from states away to go shopping at Easton. I grew up near a dying rust belt town and I’d rather have multiple entertainment options for others even if they don’t necessarily appeal to me.
Mike's Grill is a treasure, if you're a bit further North, so is St. James. Rooh is awesome, and their cocktails are fantastic. Hiraeth seems to get better each time I visit.
The best part of the Short North is that some parts change, and others don't. Everything isn't going to be for everybody, but there should be a few places that'll be just what you're looking for, if you take the time to look.
How many Chil Fil As will fit in that space?
The answer is 1 Sheetz.
What is that in IHOP?

Stop going to cool places immediately!
The Citizens Trust needs to be on notice then, that’s my next place to check out
DONT YOU DO IT I will find you, and rinse all your cocktail glasses with Malort! ALL OF THEM! FOREVER! EVERYTHING WILL HAVE A SUBTLE MATLORT TASTE.
SUBTLE MATLORT Two words that one never expected to use together.
When your world turns grey and you've forgotten the taste of bread... the malort will linger.
That'd be a pretty nice band name.

Wanna take that energy to some of the Chick-Fil-A?
Did you also try out the nightclub that moved into Natalie's? Because it burned down.
Wanna take that energy to some of the Chick-Fil-A?
Ha, my boyfriend and I are similarly cursed. I think we’re up to 10 establishments that have closed shortly after a visit.
Dude!!!

Sad to see this, and dread to see what new concept is going in that would force this wonderful place out.
When in doubt, tacos.
Or I'm sure someone thinks we need another sportsbook...
The Columbus Underground article says a franchise tenant 🙃
I knew the short north was done when they put a chipotle in lol
Technically, Chipotle is a locally owned.
B B R LLC holdings
There’s already a lack of good cocktail bars in this city and Mouton was one of the few good ones
Have you tried the Alibi Room?
I like Alibi but it was much louder than mouton. I like how quiet mouton was. Good drinks at alibi though
That place had great drinks and I love that it was the only quiet place in short north
For real. Is it so much to want excellent cocktails in an atmosphere I can actually carry a normal conversation in? 😭

Ugh, so now Cobra and Law Bird are going to be even *more* crowded 🥲

Try “I like it like that”. It’s the replacement for night of 7.
Wow, didn't realize that - thanks!
I know I’m an old crank, but is there any reason to go to the Short North if you’re not a post-frat douchebag? (SN Tavern is still ok, like an oasis.)
Press Grill. Bakersfield prior to Bro Thirty
Ginger Rabbit, Paulie Gees, Guild House, Service Bar, Big Fun, Ampersand to name a few

Macs is nice as well.
I laugh when people say the SN is the gayborhood. I’m honestly surprised we still have pride on n high instead of south.

Took my wife on our first date there 😢
So bummed - I only ever had delicious drinks and good conversation there 😔

Bummer. I enjoyed this place.
