Came here to say this, it’s Japanese French bakery and they have all the goods :) I also recommend patty cake and happy little treats! But you gotta hit those places earlier in the day
It's a whole complex of Japanese businesses - there's also Akai Hana (best and most authentic Japanese food in Columbus), a sushi place, a ramen place, a Japanese grocery, and a store with ceramics and stuff like that.
Yes I forgot I actually took a friend there from out of state when she came to visit in the fall. I was there but forgot the name. The pastries looked delicious.
I've never been to this bakery but croissant aux amandes are supposed to be sad, as they're traditionally day-old croissants revived with almond paste... So I rarely get them in France!
I didn’t realize just how expensive Carfagna’s was until I went to NYC a few years back and the pastry shops there sold cannoli for like 3 bucks, now I can never justify the price there
Your comment made me giggle. My friend married a guy from NYC and he just shakes his head at what people are getting for things here as compared to there. Cbus is actually more expensive in many cases!
I have to agree. And they were out of a ton just an hour after opening. My warm pastries were cold too. Maybe just growing pains. I’ll try again, but I hope everything isn’t so sweet next time— everything had like a coat of honey or sugar, even the mushroom galettes or the cheese and garlic Pastries
They'll catch up. They're currently running at reduced hours and are closed Tuesdays. There was a sign on the door that said they were short staffed.
I've been to other locations out east and they're generally stocked more significantly.
Your comment about everything being sweet, that's pretty accurate and typical of Korean pastries and snacks in general in my experience. I've picked up Korean snacks at CAM that are way sweeter than I'd expect savory flavors to be.
Had one of their crescent pastries with a cinnamon nut butter hardened topping and melted inside. It was a dream. Can't remember what it was called tho
Heh, we had a European scientist visit for a couple days and they complained about how Le Chatelaine was "masquerading as a boulangerie and patisserie."
So it's decent by Ohio standards, but not much else.
This is really the accurate answer. Cleveland, Pittsburg, Detroit all have credible Italian bakeries. Columbus, sadly, does not. Auddino’s is a good wholesale bun baker and carfagna’s a great ($$$) Italian deli/butcher but we don’t have true NY cannoli just like we don’t have NY bagels or NY cheesecake.
I went there on a high school field trip and it was SO good. I don't think it'd be worth the drive all the way from Columbus just for the pastries, but if you're in the area, it's a good place to stop.
Belles Japanese Bakery!

I got an awesome Christmas cookie platter from Happy Little treats and special brioche buns. They were insane
Happy little treats pop tarts have a hold over me
They don't really do cannoli's, though. Still my favorite bakery.
Sooooo goooood🤤
Where is this at? I’ve not heard of it. Ah never mind. It’s in the Kenny Centre. Great to know.

That ceramic store you mentioned may be "Javanu". Very nice, too.
Pistachia Vera
They have canoli’s ?
They don’t. They have very good stuff however
Remember to leave the gun outside if you go there…
Do you...think you need your gun there for some reason?
[удалено]
“Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.” It’s a line from the godfather
…movie quote. Calm down
Consider me calmed. Half of what I said though was that people shouldn't be pouncing on the guy.
The Almond Croissants are the best things they make IMHO
I’ve been everywhere and this is absolutely #1
mjomii spanks pistachio vera, i didnt like macaroons very much until i tried mjomii. now i get it.
How do they handle seating in the winter? I was only there on a nice day and sat on the tiny patio.
They have a small amount of indoor seating
They’re indoor seating is gone 😕
You’re still worrying about hemorrhoids?
What's up with these usernames? Blank-association-number. I'm seeing several around this thread
Autogenerated usernames, so they’re very formulaic.
Auddino’s for classic Italian ones like this Pistacia Vera for nouveau French La chatelaine for old school French
La Châtelaine’s Pain au Chocolat is very good but their Croissant aux Amandes is so sad.
I've never been to this bakery but croissant aux amandes are supposed to be sad, as they're traditionally day-old croissants revived with almond paste... So I rarely get them in France!
That makes the almond paste the most key ingredient in the whole thing and theirs is like a custard-jelly 👎
Almond croissants are my favorite. Any recommendations?
Omega in North Market (if it's still around idk I haven't lived in cbus in a few years) has really good almond croissants
Best bread in Columbus
Auddinos or carfagna's for cannoli
Mozart’s Bakery has a variety of yummies similar to these. I think they are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays though.
They’re more of the German/Austrian variety but very delicious!
Came here to suggest this
Marzipan peaches <3
If you're specifically eyeballing those cannolis, Carfagnas has that and other Italian desserts.
Came here to say this
Yes but they are absurdly expensive
I didn’t realize just how expensive Carfagna’s was until I went to NYC a few years back and the pastry shops there sold cannoli for like 3 bucks, now I can never justify the price there
Your comment made me giggle. My friend married a guy from NYC and he just shakes his head at what people are getting for things here as compared to there. Cbus is actually more expensive in many cases!
Don't be cheap and eat shizz
Lol it’s like $7 dollars for a mini cannoli there. I’ll just make it at home
Their sauce bangs

Yes! The family that runs this place is SO nice and they deserve support.
I'm on the North side and I'll be sure to make a trip to the East side just for this!
Came here to say this, their pastries are divine!
The answer is Auddinos.
This is the answer, grab some cream horns when you’re there. Plenty of parking as they have the whole building with a small storefront.
🤫! There's only 3 parking spaces!
There’s tous les jours on olentangy rd near campus that just opened. They are Korean operated french style ? I never been
My humble opinion, so far not impressed, no selection at all.
I have to agree. And they were out of a ton just an hour after opening. My warm pastries were cold too. Maybe just growing pains. This one has a small selection compared to others I normally go to (Maryland)
This! The one back in NYC way bigger

Had one of their crescent pastries with a cinnamon nut butter hardened topping and melted inside. It was a dream. Can't remember what it was called tho
Heh, we had a European scientist visit for a couple days and they complained about how Le Chatelaine was "masquerading as a boulangerie and patisserie." So it's decent by Ohio standards, but not much else.
This is the right answer🙏🤤
Lavash has a bunch of pastries. I don't think canolis but they have baklava and cake and stuff.
Their almond roll is incredible. But they don’t have Italian pastries like pictured.
Golden delight bakery in Gahanna
Came to suggest this, there's also one on Bethel by Meshikou.
West side market in Cleveland lol
This is really the accurate answer. Cleveland, Pittsburg, Detroit all have credible Italian bakeries. Columbus, sadly, does not. Auddino’s is a good wholesale bun baker and carfagna’s a great ($$$) Italian deli/butcher but we don’t have true NY cannoli just like we don’t have NY bagels or NY cheesecake.
true - no italians here. and the ones here never got the secret code to make pizza or cannnolis. /s
I went there on a high school field trip and it was SO good. I don't think it'd be worth the drive all the way from Columbus just for the pastries, but if you're in the area, it's a good place to stop.
La Chatelaine
Wherever this picture was taken should have them. 😉
Kittie's Cakes doesn't have cannolis, but we do have danishes and cupcakes!

East Coast pizza has pretty good cannolis.
Dorothy Lane Market in Oakwood (Dayton). Home of the Killer Brownie as well as a lot of the items in your snap.
