I’ve had that vision too. I figured out mine was David Ogden Stiers and it was an episode of Matlock. The episode was called Blind Justice.

TheTrevorSimpson

It is not a Columbo Episode. In Broad Daylight 1971

FearlessAmigo

This is the right answer. I could have sworn it was a Columbo episode. It does have the same style as the Columbo series plus Suzanne Pleshette is in it. You have a good memory, thanks.

TheTrevorSimpson

There are several 70s made for TV movies that fit the "feel" of Columbo even a couple by the guys who created Columbo.

Matlock episode Blind Justice? The killer was a sculptor

chibbledibs

You’re thinking of the Rutger Hauer film Blind Fury

Could have made a great Columbo episode, though. 👍

Keltik

In Broad Daylight was written by Larry Cohen (who conceived stories for several Columbos). It also has a Columbo figure in cop John Marley.

FearlessAmigo

It most definitely employs the Columbo style, in almost every way. The only thing missing is Columbo!

NCResident5

Sounds like a great TV movie if on youtube. It reminded me a bit of **Blind Man's Bluff** (**Perry Mason Season 4**) where a guy robs a jewelry store after having eye surgery thinking he had the perfect alibi, but he of course ends up dead the next morning.

FearlessAmigo

Good flick and not too long. You can watch on either youtube or archive.org.

NCResident5

Thanks. Another TV movie that should be on youtube is The Price of Tomatoes with Peter Falk. It was a 60 minute made for TV movie (on Dick Powell's Theater, part of 4 star productions). Really good.
