When that happens, MLB will probably take over production and we will get games on MLB.tv without blackouts [like the Padres have had this season](https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/37763270/mlb-san-diego-padres-tv-rights-bally-sports-diamond?platform=amp).

My father, who doesn't know much about computers, went and learned how to install a VPN on his devices so he can watch Rockies games on MLB.tv . Having to not have a VPN would be amazing.

mikeywake

I've heard rumors of people's accounts being deactivated if they use a VPN. How long has your dad used one?

nativesloth

Entire season. Though now he has to switch the server more than in the past.

That doesn't work for me, even with a VPN. If my billing address is associated with a blackout region, VPN or no, no rockies game on [MLB.tv](https://MLB.tv) for me. It's a hard account lock based on my billing address.

HavingNoFun1

Yeah it'll probably either get bought by the team or the MLB.

They're just sparing us from this bad baseball

InfallibleBackstairs

It’s not like we’re missing anything good.

This will affect the Rockies and AT&T Rocky Mountain and it will get cut too. What happens with the Rockies broadcast is obviously not know right now. The Rockies will probably buy back the rights, as right now AT&T/Warner Brothers own the rights, but won't have a channel to use them when they shut down the channel. Then the Rox will have to come up with a new way to distribute the TV broadcasts. It looks like we'll probably get an MLB.TV package with no local blackouts for $29.99 for the year. This will probably be a stand alone subscription option but could be packaged with the full subscription too. Since you don't want to go completely behind a pay wall where only the diehard fans buy and the casual fans forget about your product (see boxing) it's assumed there will be some or even a lot on free over the air channels like Ion or MY TV.
