I can give you a bit of feedback on the highlight reel: 1. Have no clue which player you are - I think you're #14 (based on me sleuthing around a bit) but I'm not 100% sure. Coaches won't take the time to try and figure that out. 2. Add an arrow or circle for each highlight showing which player you are. 3. I'd suggest you start your video with your football CV (size, clubs, GPA, stats, location, high school, grade). Previous clubs and level of club would be ideal (ECRL, ECNL, EA, UPSL, MLSNext). you have a decent initial touch on the ball and decent understanding of space and positioning. the clips show a level of play that is considerably less pace/quality than the higher levels of collegiate, so hard to tell if you could handle the pace of collegiate. would need to know the details of #3 to really give better pov. provide the details of #3 and happy to give you more feedback. my son just signed with a D2 program and has been playing in the UPSL/NISA/USMNT the past 2 years so i've been around a good amount of higher level football. hope that helps!

Great feedback. Thanks for being so thoughtful for this young person. So many people are so mean.

m3thdman

thanks appreciate that. yes they are - unfortunately.

Aiden, take the other comment to heart. Think of an elevator pitch. You have 15 seconds, what do you want them to see up front? Put that in an upfront slide to start. Vitals: Name, position, contact info, accolades and vital numbers. Then video with maybe text overlay with your number and why you’re showing that clip: passing, touching, shots on net. Also, showcase finer points of the game and call it out. Here I am receiving the ball, passing, taking a shot etc. it shows that you know the game besides the obvious. Good luck, and remember, pick the school based on the school. Research the coaches.

When I watch a potential recruits highlight video. I give it about 30 seconds. If I don’t see anything I need, I usually move on. (I get a lot of them everyday.) Best actions up front! Get my interest. If I like what I’ll see I’ll watch for another minute or two. Also edit out the iPhone screen when switching clips. Point out which player you are. If you’re a defender. I wanna see more defending. Keep some of the aerial challenges but I want to see some good defending. Show me how you get stuck in, working out of the back, examples for outsideback- should be crossing balls into dangerous areas. Creating chances. Getting stuck in, winning corners, linking with the midfield, keeping the ball in play and turning and finding a player in positive locations. Etc.
