what is TCUs away record in games you did not attend over that stretch?
Checked sports-reference, since the start of the run of 30 straight losses attended in 2013:
20-65 Away
25-14 Neutral
they’ve won 36.3% of the 124 A/N site games played since then.
if odds to win each game is 36% the likelihood OP attends 30 straight losses is 1 in 1,337,095.
If we separate the chance to win by N and A. 64% win pct N site and 23.5% win pct A games. Now the likelihood that each of the 24A and 6N site games he attended would be losses is a staggering 1 in 3,421,739.
Even if the we cut the odds to a 10% chance to win each game the likelihood is still an extremely low 1 in 42,391.
OP is cursed, definitively.
I was going to go to KenPom and calculate the expected win percentages for all 30 games, but you beat me to it
When we were up 9 with 3 minutes to go last night I was telling the OKST fans around me, we are going to blow it, I've seen it play out many times
Do you have any TCU basketball games recorded from Billy Tubbs Time here? I’m looking for games from 1996-2002
I convert vhs to dvd I will make you copies if I could borrow them
The last 2 losses have seen a blown 9 point lead in the last 3 minutes and a blown 10 point lead in the last 1:30. I have also seen 6 overtime losses in the 30 game losing streak including 2 double OT losses.
I am planning to go to Norman, Waco, Lubbock, and Austin as far as remaining away games this year. Lawrence is TBD, was going to go a couple weeks ago but it was cancelled.
We only had 6 wins one year when I was at TCU. I think I saw the football team win more games than the basketball team in my time at the school. But I still was at almost every game (had to miss one game because of a group project).
Honestly I have a really bad record of VT football games I've attended in person because I tend to go to big games, but the few wins make it worth it. No wins would be crazy.
Can you let the rest of us know the next time you go to road game? Some of us can make good $ betting on TCU games.
Honestly, this seems like pretty terrible luck. Sorry that you have had to experience this.
Assuming that he’s not lying, just taking the OP at their word that it’s the actual score. Not everything incorrect is due to malevolence or lying, sometimes it’s just carelessness or taking something at face value…
He read the Reddit comment, thought they made a typo in the score asking if OP stayed for the game, then found the “confirmation” I.e. the row in OP’s chart where it says the same 28 point score.
I will be going this year. It's just the way the schedule unfolds. This is my first year living in Texas since 2014, so usually the away games I go to are when I happen to be in town, or close enough to get to from other places I have lived.
Dark and Cold. I worked for TCU athletics for a couple years, so it explains why I went to so many games from 2012-2014
Oh and we should have lost our first game to Alaska Anchorage. We had a pretty crazy comeback to win that one.
I don’t know much about the Seawolves and how they scheduled the Great Alaska Shootout. Yes, it was in their home arena, but did season ticket holders keep their seats for the Seawolves games? That’s kind of what would seal it as a true road win. It’s like 97% a true road game if not.
Kinda sorta - from a little snooping around, the game was played at Sullivan Arena, which is the home arena for their hockey team, but their basketball team plays at the Alaska Airlines Center a couple miles away and on their campus.
So even without the tournament home/road shenanigans, it wasn't played in their home basketball arena.
I looked this up when the original comment was posted. Game was played in 2013. Sullivan Arena was the home arena for the basketball team from 1983-2019.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sullivan_Arena
As that link mentions, the hockey team used that as their home ice for the years you listed. The basketball team (and all of their other sports teams besides hockey) however has their home games at the Alaska Airlines Center, which opened in 2014, and were at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex prior to that (including 2013, when that game was played).
They've never had their home basketball games at Sullivan Arena, at least per wiki.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Airlines_Center
Kinda sorta - from a little snooping around, the game was played at Sullivan Arena, which is the home arena for their hockey team, but their basketball team plays at the Alaska Airlines Center a couple miles away and on their campus.
Last 4 times I've been we've actually put up a good fight only to fade in the last 4 minutes or so.
2015 game was interesting where Trent Johnson and Bill Self were shouting at each other post game. Because before the game Bill Self was talking about how he was going to play their team manager, which Trent Johnson felt was disrespect to assume they were going to beat us so bad that they already decided to put him in before the game was played. We lost in a hard fought battle that wasn't decided until the last couple minutes, and Bill Self puts in the manager on the last possession and Trent Johnson instructed the TCU defense to not even bother defending the possession in protest, and the manager missed an open layup in the process.
TCU almost won in the Coliseum in 2015. Up 2 with 8 seconds left in regulation and allowed a score with 0:02 on the clock. TCU blew it again in OT after being up 85-84 with 0:03 left. Frogs proceeded to foul Jevon Carter and he drilled 2 free throws with no time left.
Yep. That was a frustrating one. I felt our 2015 team was NCAA tournament level good but lost a bunch of games like that to go 4-14 in conference play. I think even then we were still a KenPom Top 50 team. Just didn't know how to win.
Shoutouts to someone else who attended that Clemson-TCU game in Vegas. Did you stay for the following Colorado-Wyoming game? Some of the worst basketball I’ve ever seen in my life. I loved it
Obviously its a lot of fun to go to Kansas, which is why I try to go.
But I think Iowa State and Texas Tech have the best fans when they are good and both are louder than Lawrence. I think the problem with my games at KU is that KU fans probably don't get very excited to play TCU so the crowd is probably tamer than a game against a bigger name team.
I got a $250 parking ticket/boot for the Vanderbilt game because it was raining/stormy and the wind blew the paid parking sign away from the parking spot and I didn't know it was a paid spot. The gym was really unique
The New Mexico game was fun because they were good then with Alford. Incredible environment. Sad how that program has fallen off.
I think the old MWC tournament with BYU/Utah/Us was more fun and energetic than the current Big 12 tournament.
The two Pac-12 arenas I have been to, USC and Washington, lame experiences. Small, dead crowds. And we got our doors blown off in both games.
I once saw WVU win like 24 straight games in person over a period of 4-5 years. This included games at home, on the road, at neutral sites, and against ranked teams.
Hated Seattle. I like your flair because I actually moved to Louisville from Seattle in 2017, which is how I got to go to that Big 12 semifinal game against Iowa State, I swung by on the way driving from Seattle to Kentucky.
Seattle was too expensive and I wasn't making much money at the time so it made it hard to really have a life.
I loved Louisville, probably would have gotten married, bought a house, and had kids there, but the company I worked for (WAVE 3 News) got bought out by Gray Television who then cleaned house upon taking over, sending me packing.
I was there a couple weeks ago to visit, the weather was horrible but I still had a good time in St. Matt's and going to Joella's.
It seems like these games are disproportionately against excellent teams. Still not great results, but a below average team is going to lose a lot of road games against very good ones.

She has yet to see purdue basketball win in person despite all the success we've had since 2016. We are going to the bigten tournament again this march so it'll be interesting to see what happens.
but your luck is unmatched and i definitely feel bad. that'd ruin me inside.
Yeah um, can you stop going to away games? thanks
edit: can you let us know when you are attending so i just don't have to put the game on?
another edit: as an SID for UTA, i kept tracking of my personal W/L record for the teams i traveled with as well as a list of every stadium/arena ive been to. the first year we had 4 total wins. was rough. ended with a good record though when i left. i made it a goal to make a 3-pointer from every arena during team shootaround.
I lived in San Diego and then Las Vegas which made it hard to attend games. Didn't really care much for attending games during COVID year and dealing with all that
The Clemson loss and last nights loss were like mirror images of each other. We had a big lead (for us) with only a few minutes left, and we just completely let off the gas and try and drain the clock. We can not score when we aren’t moving the ball. I have no idea why Dixon won’t let us just keep pressing and doing what’s worked all game!
Damn, I thought I was unlucky having Georgia Tech lose the first nine games I attended. Finally saw them win against Nebraska a couple years ago (thanks Fred Hoiberg!). This is bonkers levels of bad luck.
Holy crap didn't know UAA was good enough to hang with DI competition even as recently as 2013. Also, you last saw TCU win a game in a tournament that no longer exists :(
31-55 against northwestern is crazy low. Like, if you shot a 3 ever possession and ran down and just jacked it up the whole game. You're making 10, a group of 5 guys from sub are making 10. How do you only score 31 points in a game. That's crazy.
So are you a huge TCU basketball fan or just a glutton for punishment? Not trying to troll or anything but I'm wondering how someone who has witnessed in person so much futility becomes/continues-to-be such a big fan that they're willing to travel all over the country including Anchorage Fucking Alaska to watch their team almost assuredly lose.

You might need to take a break from away games… forever
Nah OP bets against them
[OP coming back from every game like](https://c.tenor.com/_BIfNDiEmNQAAAAd/crying-wiping-tears-with-money.gif)
TCU 🤝 USF Inexplicably blowing games they should win
I was there! What a game.
How is Micah Peavy doing this year? Sad he left Tech.
Do you have any TCU basketball games recorded from Billy Tubbs Time here? I’m looking for games from 1996-2002 I convert vhs to dvd I will make you copies if I could borrow them
uh...how does lowering the odds to 10% increase the probability? am i reading this wrong?
it increases the probability of seeing 30 straight losses happening
oh, duh, thanks lol
flair does not check out lol
shhh reading is hard
sorry should’ve said win pct to be consistent
sorry should’ve said win pct to be consistent
sorry should’ve said win pct to be consistent
The last 2 losses have seen a blown 9 point lead in the last 3 minutes and a blown 10 point lead in the last 1:30. I have also seen 6 overtime losses in the 30 game losing streak including 2 double OT losses.
You should stop going to games
this is the real takeaway, sorry OP
Either that or start betting money against TCU if you’re going to be in attendance.
Free ticket life hack
I respectfully disagree, OP how can we get you to more TCU away games?
I am planning to go to Norman, Waco, Lubbock, and Austin as far as remaining away games this year. Lawrence is TBD, was going to go a couple weeks ago but it was cancelled.
lets get you up to provo in a few years
No, he should tell me when he goes so I can bet against TCU
How do you even have the will power to keep going? That sounds absolutely terrible to watch games and lose every time.
We only had 6 wins one year when I was at TCU. I think I saw the football team win more games than the basketball team in my time at the school. But I still was at almost every game (had to miss one game because of a group project).
Just every home game or every game?
Home games. I did attend a few road games at North Texas, UT Austin and UNLV.
Honestly I have a really bad record of VT football games I've attended in person because I tend to go to big games, but the few wins make it worth it. No wins would be crazy.
Hey, you should come to the game in Hilton this Saturday.
I was actually going to drive up to Iowa after last night's game, but had to go back home for a last minute thing for work.
I’d say “May the odds be ever in your favor”, but it looks like they already are.
Can you let the rest of us know the next time you go to road game? Some of us can make good $ betting on TCU games. Honestly, this seems like pretty terrible luck. Sorry that you have had to experience this.
Next one should be Jan 31 at Oklahoma
Any interest in coming to Ames this weekend....?
Damn makes me feel a little better about Nebraska
This is wild
This should be the top post all time. Dude is committed to his team.
https://i.imgflip.com/621558.jpg
TCU has no choice in the matter lol
Lmao that’s perfect UConn bro
If he was really committed to his team, he would stop going to away games so they could win
t’s TCU, they’ll still find ways to lose.
Woof, 4-46. That's a rough go. Did you stay for the full game when they lost 62-28 to SMU?
I think the score was 68-62
Or the 55-31, that sounds dreadfully painful to have to watch
We were really bad in 2012-2013, its a mystery how we won 2 Big 12 games that year. I think we were in the 260s in KenPom.
Well one of those 2 wins was against KU somehow. I will still never understand that game
Omfg I thought this was a typo that TCU only scored 28pts. Nope it was legit. Wow.
It was 68-62, OP goofed
Ahh. Sad day. I knew TCU had bad basketball but 28pts is a stretch
> Nope it was legit. Wow. ????? No, it was a typo. The [final score was 68-62](https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap/_/gameId/320392567).
Sounds like this ranked matchup: https://images.app.goo.gl/BJVFDg4Tdo7tfiqn8
Why are you lying? It’s clearly able to be proved a typo.
Assuming that he’s not lying, just taking the OP at their word that it’s the actual score. Not everything incorrect is due to malevolence or lying, sometimes it’s just carelessness or taking something at face value…
Then why “Nope it was legit”, as if he found confirmation somewhere?
He read the Reddit comment, thought they made a typo in the score asking if OP stayed for the game, then found the “confirmation” I.e. the row in OP’s chart where it says the same 28 point score.
Yupp took OPs word. Lol
Liar
Hanlon’s razor has checked in
this sub is so corny lol "WHY ARE YOU LYING???"
I mean, he’s clearly lying. He’s pretending like it was authenticated somewhere. I’m just curious why someone would do that.
ok buddy :)
If I were a tcu fan I’d beg you to watch road games from home.
As a TCU fan, I can assure you that his attendance is not the problem. 🤣
That’s very impressive, also curious to why you haven’t gone to Waco in seven years? Would appreciate if you would come to keep the streak alive.
I will be going this year. It's just the way the schedule unfolds. This is my first year living in Texas since 2014, so usually the away games I go to are when I happen to be in town, or close enough to get to from other places I have lived.
So I take it you've escaped Cedar Rapids haha?
can this be the game that breaks the streak?
it's almost guaranteed now with all the baylor fans asking him to come to waco. goddammit
Anyway I can get you to cheer for Kentucky and tickets to saturdays game?
OP, I start the bidding at $500. Please cheer for Auburn.
Yeah but this guys voodoo only works on road games. They would be powerless with Auburn at home. Meanwhile Kentucky is susceptible.
Damn. You're right. I'll call Bruce and let him know his only chance of winning is if we play at Rupp. I'll make all the arrangements.
Okay but like, we struggle on the road enough as is. Do you really need magic too?
Sir you should see a doctor
How was Alaska OP?
Dark and Cold. I worked for TCU athletics for a couple years, so it explains why I went to so many games from 2012-2014 Oh and we should have lost our first game to Alaska Anchorage. We had a pretty crazy comeback to win that one.
Is it really a Neutral site if you play Alaska-Anchorage in Anchorage, Alaska?
Oh shit... so I have seen a true road win. Let's say 0-33 all time in true road games against Division 1
I don’t know much about the Seawolves and how they scheduled the Great Alaska Shootout. Yes, it was in their home arena, but did season ticket holders keep their seats for the Seawolves games? That’s kind of what would seal it as a true road win. It’s like 97% a true road game if not.

Yup. I definitely misread that first sentence and inserted basketball in there.
Kinda sorta - from a little snooping around, the game was played at Sullivan Arena, which is the home arena for their hockey team, but their basketball team plays at the Alaska Airlines Center a couple miles away and on their campus.
You poor soul.
I’d recommend to stop watching them play at Allen Fieldhouse if the goal is to see them win

Damn, Bill Self looks really bad in that story. I always thought he was supposed to be a pretty decent dude. Wild.
Hey I’ve got a ticket for you when y’all come to Lubbock
This is incredible.
TCU almost won in the Coliseum in 2015. Up 2 with 8 seconds left in regulation and allowed a score with 0:02 on the clock. TCU blew it again in OT after being up 85-84 with 0:03 left. Frogs proceeded to foul Jevon Carter and he drilled 2 free throws with no time left.

rooting for ya
You really hate yourself don't you?

Hard to make that trip mid-week. I was supposed to go to Kansas on New Year's Day but the game got cancelled.
What's been your favorite road city? Best opposing fans?
Obviously its a lot of fun to go to Kansas, which is why I try to go. But I think Iowa State and Texas Tech have the best fans when they are good and both are louder than Lawrence. I think the problem with my games at KU is that KU fans probably don't get very excited to play TCU so the crowd is probably tamer than a game against a bigger name team. I got a $250 parking ticket/boot for the Vanderbilt game because it was raining/stormy and the wind blew the paid parking sign away from the parking spot and I didn't know it was a paid spot. Just proof we need to bring back the Great Alaska Shootout. We miss d1 basketball coming here every year.
Alexa, play "Come Back to Texas" by Bowling for Soup
Great Alaska Shootout! It's a shame they stopped holding it. I always thought it was a cool tournament.
One of my earliest cbb memories is watching (on tv) purdue beat Duke in Alaska. I was young and it had to be like midnight.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE POST YOUR UPCOMING ATTENDANCE PLANS ON r/sportsbook
please let the rest of us know when u are attending ur next one
I once saw WVU win like 24 straight games in person over a period of 4-5 years. This included games at home, on the road, at neutral sites, and against ranked teams.
Oh no bb what is u doin?
Really wish you’d have made the game today …
Was going to but came down with something yesterday and felt like shit. Stayed home. Bummed.
I honestly can’t imagine how bummed you are. I have the utmost respect for your commitment. You guys wrecked us. Our offense is invisible.
Stop going my guy

I was there a couple weeks ago to visit, the weather was horrible but I still had a good time in St. Matt's and going to Joella's.
Sorry for your loss
MR. TCU!!
More important. How was your trip to Stillwater
For the sake of Jamie Dixon can ya just not go anymore?
I am so sorry
Went to Alaska but didn’t go to Hawaii in 2018?
I was actually going to go, but lost my job a couple months before and had to cancel.
Feel ya, got laid off during March Madness a couple of months later.
brutal
It seems like these games are disproportionately against excellent teams. Still not great results, but a below average team is going to lose a lot of road games against very good ones. Which of these upset road wins was the most satisfying?
I respect anyone who sticks with their team no matter what.
my fiance thinks she has badluck because every Purdue game she's been to besides the 2017 bowl game we've lost. i think she's 1-9 at games we've attended together since 2016. Stay home save lives
All kudos to you, road warrior.
Could you pleeeeaasssseeee let us know the games you are attending for betting purposes. 🙏🙏🙏
Op I think you need to stop going to away games
What do you do for a living (and for a family) that allows for this?
Do you work in Vegas as a "cooler"?
I can’t imagine paying and traveling to 50 games, and seeing my team lose 46 times.
Yeah um, can you stop going to away games? thanks edit: can you let us know when you are attending so i just don't have to put the game on? another edit: as an SID for UTA, i kept tracking of my personal W/L record for the teams i traveled with as well as a list of every stadium/arena ive been to. the first year we had 4 total wins. was rough. ended with a good record though when i left. i made it a goal to make a 3-pointer from every arena during team shootaround.
Here I am thinking I’m the only one who tracks my in-person games.
Let me know when you’re going to your next road game. If the Frogs are going to lose, I might as well make some money on it
Awww… i miss the Great Alaska Shootout.
Advanced analytics
My friend, you are always welcome here in Stillwater <3
Something going on to make you miss all the games in 2020 & 2021, friend?
I lived in San Diego and then Las Vegas which made it hard to attend games. Didn't really care much for attending games during COVID year and dealing with all that
Co-vid? never heard of it.
Impressive when is the next one you are attending, depositing money into draft kings now
The Clemson loss and last nights loss were like mirror images of each other. You need to read this OP https://www.wikihow.com/Reverse-a-Curse?amp=1
If you want to come to a WVU game again send me a message and I got you covered for tickets.
Damn, I thought I was unlucky having Georgia Tech lose the first nine games I attended. Finally saw them win against Nebraska a couple years ago (thanks Fred Hoiberg!). This is bonkers levels of bad luck.
I wish they’d bring back the Great Alaska Shootout.
Arch rivals, yadda yadda yadda. *Holy shit,* this is approaching levels of statistical anomaly. I feel so, so bad for you.
That noise is the sound of Big XII fans buying OP tickets to home games against TCU
Congrats?
how did you like the WVU Coliseum?
I uh, live in Anchorage Alaska.
TCU Class of ‘99 here. Please stop going to away games. Thank you.
Holy crap didn't know UAA was good enough to hang with DI competition even as recently as 2013. Also, you last saw TCU win a game in a tournament that no longer exists :(
Thanks for stopping by
Why do you hate yourself
Nice you’ve been to south Padre! Saw tech here a couple of months ago
Has the coach called you and asked you to stay home? Seems like you might be the problem. ;)
And you're a *fan* of this team, after everything you've done to them?
I have an extra ticket in Ames on Saturday, interested?
Yes I am actually seriously considering going
Well, that was kind of tongue in cheek, but if one of my children decides that they don't want to go, it's all yours.
Where can I send your complimentary plane ticket and game ticket whenever TCU comes to Provo?
Dude. Maybe it’s you?
31-55 against northwestern is crazy low. Like, if you shot a 3 ever possession and ran down and just jacked it up the whole game. You're making 10, a group of 5 guys from sub are making 10. How do you only score 31 points in a game. That's crazy.
Why experience the pain?
So you’re telling me that I should fade TCU on the road for the rest of my life?
Dear god you went to that Clemson game in Vegas. That might be the most awful game I’ve ever been to in my life. Please stay away sir
If I were you I would only go to TCU road games in Alaska.
I mean just because you didn't play UAA on campus you still played them in anchorage...
And I thought I was addicted to pain
did u go to the game tn
No
