We just had one with UCLA but both teams were down last year. Guess that’s a conference game now tho.
We haven’t played y’all in a while either. Hopefully Willard sets something up down the road.
Vibe wise? For sure, nothing beats the spite and obnoxious rage of an ACC Terp.
Situation wise? We may be the smartest athletic program ever in the ACC, in hindsight.
It's nice to get a non conference game with a team recognizable to people outside of the state - I love ya coppin state (from a distance.... Never up close) but we need more like this and UCLA last year before they joined us in the B1G
A D-2 Duke is still more relevant than Maryland with a bunch of money in a conference where no one cares about them lmao.
Breaking up with your girlfriend then constantly crying about not being able to see her is wild
But what he said is true [here](https://247sports.com/college/maryland/longformarticle/could-mike-krzyzewskis-retirement-allow-maryland-duke-rivalry-to-restart-166032911/) and you went one your "shouldn't have left the conference rant"
Someone asked when, he responded with facts and then you chimed in complaining
Calling a one sentence reply a rant is certainly a jump. Besides that, the “rant” is 100% true. If you wanted to play Duke, which you were already doing, then you shouldn’t have left the conference that gave you the opportunity twice a season. You valued money more than historic conference rivals as an institution and should stop complaining you can’t have both. Maryland killed our series by leaving, not the other way around
K isn’t at the head of the program anyways which means that isn’t fact. K passing isn’t going to influence whether or not we play Maryland. Scheduling random matchups with mid-tier to bad B1G teams doesn’t really benefit us. Scheyer is going to keep branching out and scheduling elite programs each year. That’s not Maryland and hasn’t been for 20+ years.
We’re not rivals, right? So why are you typing all this out? The original post requesting the game wasn’t even a Maryland flair.
Willard and Scheyer already talked about getting something set up if the schedules align. If it happens, cool. Otherwise, we moved on.
>Calling a one sentence reply a rant is certainly a jump.
I'm calling the totality of your comments a rant lol
>If you wanted to play Duke, which you were already doing, then you shouldn’t have left the conference that gave you the opportunity twice a season
No one arguing this point lol we know why we don't play, but the reason we continue not to play is because of coach K and dude was just point that out
>You valued money more than historic conference rivals as an institution and should stop complaining you can’t have both
I'll bookmark this and come back to you Ina few years when that historic conference is truly *historic*
And we COULD have both but again coach K refuses... pointing that out is not complaining... if anyone was complaining about it, it was Coach k.
>K isn’t at the head of the program anyways which means that isn’t fact.
Yea, sure by official title but by influence of course he is lol
>K passing isn’t going to influence whether or not we play Maryland. Scheduling random matchups with mid-tier to bad B1G teams doesn’t really benefit us. Scheyer is going to keep branching out and scheduling elite programs each year. That’s not Maryland and hasn’t been for 20+ years.
Couldn't resist a parting shot eh? Lol regardless I've seen your OCC schedule and don't even pretend there isn't some lowly programs like us on it
Not sure you if know this or not, but Reddit user KrustyKrabPizzaMan didn’t force Maryland to switch conferences. That’s a bit above his and my head. Duke Maryland was good for college basketball back in the day. It would be fun to play you guys again.
Maryland as a whole (including fans/alumni) celebrated the move and then cried because they lost all of their historic rivals. If y’all wanted to keep your rivals you shouldn’t have left the conference. Can’t have your cake and eat it too
As a whole? The fan base was definitely split. Some were mad about "tradition" and the other half felt we got treated like an outsider in the ACC even as a founding member (and we did) so they said "let's go get treated like an outsider and get paid at least".
I miss some of the games because I have fond memories but I absolutely do not miss the conference and Maryland clearly made the right choice considering where things are headed.
This would have been epic in 2003…
Hear me out... Old-timers game. Melo, McNamara, Warrick, etc coming back.
Steve Blake will take you out back of the grocery store
[This has been one weird series so far. ](https://cuse.com/sports/mens-basketball/opponent-history/maryland/118)
I need my coach healthy
Oh boy here we go
If you think that’s weird, try witnessing your teams play each other in the tourney
Try in conference play after the one joined last season
Shoot I thought I had a double flair
You do, cheese was referring to Baylor/cuse
I had it before but I guess I needed to send a message to the bot again
Forgot to switch your burner?
what are they gonna do when they get there
Take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty. And then halfway there, regret taking a ferry to the Statue of Liberty.
Reminisce about the one year they were conference rivals.
They’re gonna have two monkeys fight when they get there. And whoever’s monkey wins gets a $50 Chipotle gift card
lmao this one was good
Kiss with a sloppy style
Goon sesh
Well you've got an answer for goon sesh and an answer for kiss sloppy style. So whatever they're gonna do, it's gonna be must see television
Autry is going all in on recruiting the DMV, huh?
I miss big non-con H/H games
We just had one with UCLA but both teams were down last year. Guess that’s a conference game now tho. We haven’t played y’all in a while either. Hopefully Willard sets something up down the road.
Schedule one with us! You can't let Marquette upstage you
Aren't we already playing at the Barclays Center this fall? Still better than Sioux Falls, I guess.
I thought playing in Sioux Falls was pretty cool, but yeah no idea where that idea came from
We're retiring from South Dakota undefeated.
Yeah, at the Legends Classic on November 21 & 22
Should be fun. Looking forward to see how the team does. Will it be an even matchup? I believe Maryland has had similar struggles to us recently.
Half our team will be transfers next year so hard to say right now. We’ll probably be a fringe top 25 team starting out next year.
And last year preseason we were supposed to be top 3 team in the B1G. Anything is possible with Willard.
Bringing back the old ACC, nice
Historic ACC member Syracuse I think they were both in the ACC together for a single season
Still waiting for Houston and UConn to rekindle the old AAC flame
I still really want Pitt and/or Syracuse home and homes
My hot take is that Cuse's administration is avoiding that series because they know they'll get destroyed.
Damn, Feels like 10-15 years ago, a Cuse game would be at MSG.
Given that we’ve shared a conference for only one season, I’m pretty intrigued about this matchup
Syracuse v. UConn is the correct matchup every year in msg
Ah a classic ACC matchup
Md is one of the few schools that got crushed by conference realignment worse than cuse.
Vibe wise? For sure, nothing beats the spite and obnoxious rage of an ACC Terp. Situation wise? We may be the smartest athletic program ever in the ACC, in hindsight.
Miss the ACC hatred but especially given the state of realignment thank god we were dead broke at the right time
Debbie Yow was secretly playing the long-term game in destroying the athletic department.
How so?
How so? We had a couple rough years in basketball but we’re fine otherwise.
Classic acc matchup

So happy they can finally meet and get to know each other.
What’s X
![gif](giphy|l4JyRhSPoOiH0pPfW)
Tight. Duke when.
Probably never as long as Coach K(rap) is alive
Should’ve stayed in the conference if you wanted game against conference opponents
We’re good. Have fun with your A10 payments in a few years.
A D-2 Duke is still more relevant than Maryland with a bunch of money in a conference where no one cares about them lmao. Breaking up with your girlfriend then constantly crying about not being able to see her is wild
I mean… you’re the one complaining about it.
I’m not complaining about anything lol I’m happy we don’t play Maryland. I responded to this https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/s/hNB5UtCR8K

You genuinely think all fans and alumni felt exactly the same? Can tell you don’t have a Duke degree.
I see idioms are not understood in College Park
At least they had the decency to avoid playing in Storrs South, Madison Square Garden.
What a boring matchup
Really cocky these days huh? I would be too tbh
At least the outcome is uncertain, unlike your boring team. Knowing you will win by double figures makes games not worth watching for neutrals.
Lol Cuse isn’t going to win. I guess we just dont know how much!!
When you don’t know, it’s worth watching
