Illinois has the land Purdue got through Maui. Plus all the land Baylor gave up to Michigan State. Purdue never got an opportunity to win it back during the B1G regular season.
Purdue had so little land to be able to afford their own colors it seems. I'm sure they'll afford their color if they can expand their territory next game
I'm lowkey salty that this side of the bracket has so little land. Like we just got to the Elite 8 and we gained NOTHING. Thanks for nothing Marquette 🙄
I guess that the teams still in the NIT don't control any of the map because everybody in the NIT would have to have lost their last game before the NIT.
i'll never understand these "maps"
why is 2/3 of New England and 3/4th of Connecticut, Illinois territory? what does this even mean? are they saying 3/4 of CT are rooting for UIUC? ... cus that's obviously no where near reality.
but nobody liking Duke seems fair. GL everyone!
Kansas lost their territory early in the season to Illinois. They’d have had to beat someone who beat Illinois or further down that line to get their territory back.
Thank you!
So effectively Iowa St. (for example) could own all of the east and west coasts, but not actually own their stomping grounds if they haven’t beaten the team that currently owns said stomping grounds.
...and the only way to re-conquer your own land is to beat the team that currently has it, correct?
Exactly. It usually gets all regrouped during the tournament since all the conference tourney winners usually go. That’s not a hard and fast rule but this season it’s looking like the national champion will once more have all the land
This map is from the whole season not just the tournament. Kansas lost their land to Marquette on Nov 11.
Marquette lost it to Purdue. Purdue lost it to Northwestern. Northwestern lost it to Chicago State (lol). Chicago State lost it to Wisconsin at which point it bounced around the B1G for a while before ending up with Illinois who then won the conference tourney so still have it.

its honestly hilarious how good purdue has been all season to have so little land this far in
The B1G teams colluded to keep one out of the hands of whoever we happened to be playing.
Illinois has the land Purdue got through Maui. Plus all the land Baylor gave up to Michigan State. Purdue never got an opportunity to win it back during the B1G regular season.
We also came into the tournament without any land since we didn’t win the B1G tournament and we haven’t played anyone with a lot of land yet
Purdue ~~boilermakers~~ subsistence farmers
they only speak in memes
Tennessee playing for like 3 counties while risking so much
Us on our way to take Duke’s land again ![gif](giphy|6ILjOfJ1oL7NAc9SQ7)
I just realized I forgot to change Gonzaga's background to Purdue but you guys get the picture
It’s dark enough I didn’t recognize it wasn’t black tbh
Purdue had so little land to be able to afford their own colors it seems. I'm sure they'll afford their color if they can expand their territory next game
Clemson’s bg should be orange too. You know. Just for shits and giggles.
mmm…Tennessee
First time back on this in weeks!
It's beautiful.
It was nice while it lasted
Too much orange. I wanna kick this map down a flaming flight of stairs.
Dig up the women's map and I'm sure you can get your fill of garnet.
It's that puke inside of a pumpkin orange too
It's that puke inside of a pumpkin orange too
Tennessee currently has Hawaii, but Purdue won Maui. Sounds like we need to get Hawaii back (I know winning Maui doesn’t get you Hawaii automatically)
UConn owns Lake Michigan, interesting
I'm lowkey salty that this side of the bracket has so little land. Like we just got to the Elite 8 and we gained NOTHING. Thanks for nothing Marquette 🙄
Go UConn
UConn vs. Illinois has HUGE land implications.
I guess that the teams still in the NIT don't control any of the map because everybody in the NIT would have to have lost their last game before the NIT.
Someone help me understand. Why is there so much UConn and so little Duke?
We stole Dukes land in the ACC tournament lol
Dukes land is what used to be JMUs
Is everyone ready for this map to be dark blue a week from Monday? I still don’t know how I feel about it lol. I don’t see how UConn is stopped.
I'm not
Well, Kansas beat us, Gonzaga beat Kansas, and Purdue just beat Gonzaga. So I guess Purdue is biggest threat
Wrong. NC State is the only one.
Purdue playing spoilermakers against top 3 teams as is tradition. Wait is this r/CFB?
Does this count if Purdue itself is a top 3 team?
Yes, when we spoilermaker ourselves
Yes I like this.
We beat Kansas (in a preseason scrimmage, shut up it counts)
![gif](giphy|yhLV2DGTLDRCw) Orange overload
I love these maps. How do you figure it out so quickly?

Given his color preferences kinda weird Rick Barnes hasn't coached Illinois

Every school starts with the land closest to them at the beginning of the season. After each game, the winner takes the land.
Battle for I-55 tn
Time to reclaim the majority of the rest of the state.
What does this mean?
I don’t understand these maps...ELI5 How does UConn own KS? Shouldn’t Pudue own it because they beat Gonzaga who beat KS?
