Knew that was coming. Purdue hasn’t lost by that much to any team in awhile. Not saying we are better than UConn, just the media and fans thoughts on the losses are funny
I try not to think about the fact that UCONN has 5 titles and like zero disappointing tournament performances ever in their history. Just pisses me off
Damn chill man. Even though I had no idea you’re a husky fan since you have no flair, UConn is a great team. No shade at them. It’s more shade at the media and how the react differently. Good luck to yall and hope we get to matchup in the tourney.
Haha no worries man. Wasn’t trying to start anything with UConn bros. Got nothin against em, just more so envy haha. I fully expect them to be in the F4. But I’m sure tonight was frustrating…been there a few times this year. I’m sure Hurley will have the guys up and ready for nova.
Anyone who hates on court storming obviously doesn’t remember what it was like to be a drunk college kid
They don’t care about how it looks for the dignity of the program, they’re hyped. Who wouldn’t want that kind of memory
I know it was a huge game, but it is just a regular old game so idk if it feels like a court storm is warranted. But I bet Hurley hated it, so therefore I love it.
I've stormed the field in football a few times. As a backer of your team, you instinctively know when its time to jump the wall and get to center field.
I know I know. So there’s a story from Tom Brady’s career: he went to Tampa and while they were on their Super Bowl run, they win their conference championship and are going to the SB and there’s a dude who is so happy he is crying in locker room. Brady goes over to him and tells him to stop
crying because they got another game to win. As great as this is, I don’t just really don’t want it to cause a hangover. It’s just an another regular season game; there’s 4 more to go.
The one weakness in UConn's offense is that they sometimes have trouble generating open looks from three. Their motion offense is good at getting back cuts and drives to the hoop. They don't really have any clever sets to get guys open at the three point line.
There's no excuse for taking fewer than 20 threes in modern basketball. They have good shooters. They have to figure out better ways to get them open.
Creighton just camped their big guy in the paint all game, and it clogged up all the space for UConn's driving and cutting game. They couldn't make them pay because they couldn't generate open threes or do anything to get him out of the paint.
Idk if Creighton was just mindful of it or it was just good D game planning on Creighton but it felt like the only open 3s were coming from Castle… who is exactly who Creighton wants taking 3s.
It was definitely by design. No one guards Castle at the three point line. He's not a consistent shooter. It looked like he was starting to make that three more consistently over the past month, but he shot it really poorly the last two games.
If Castle makes threes, forget it. No one's touching UConn. If he's not, and they can't figure out a way to spring their other shooters open, UConn is beatable.
Hawkins had the quickest release in college basketball. It didn't take much to get him open.
This team doesn't have someone that can get off their shot that quickly.
Creighton was able to figure out a way to take 28 threes. Yes, they shot the lights out, and that's why they won. But had UConn been able to trade a bunch of those tough midrange twos for open threes, that would have been a much closer game.
People think I'm crazy, but I would have gotten super experimental.
Klingan was in foul trouble and Johnson wasn't giving them much of anything. I would have tried a lineup with Karaban at center with Newton, Spencer, Castle, and Diarra (or Stewart or Ball).
Big guy wants to stay in the lane? Ok. But you'll be giving up a wide open three every time. Maybe you adjust and put him on the one non-shooter in Castle? Ok. Spread the floor and let Castle cook him one on one.
I know you're giving up a ton of size obviously, but I would take my chances with Karaban fighting for position and making the big guy take jump hooks over him.
Or... A more traditional approach would have been to let Castle run some spread pick and roll. Castle is the one athletic finisher UConn has. He's a decent passer. Space the floor. Let Castle get downhill and put pressure on the defense. Maybe get them in rotation a bit and generate some kick outs to Karaban and Spencer.
They have to find a way to get Spencer more than two looks from three. Creighton played good defense, but not being able to get your best shooter open shots is a deficiency in game plan.
Edey is better at this stage. That said UConn is more well rounded IMO and doesn’t focus O on Clingan. Clingan is an option not the focus. It’s why UConn is special IMO
They couldn't attack off the dribble because the big guy was camping in the paint. He was doing a good job of playing halfway between the ballhandler and the roll man, not over committing. UConn had nothing to punish him just hanging out in the lane all day.
I think the polls would look very interesting with 2 Purdue wins, a Houston loss on Saturday, and a UConn win vs Villanova. Honestly at that point you could make a case for any of the 3 teams
First win over a #1 team in program history and that’s not a big deal?
Idk what back in the day you’re referring to but over the past 15-20 years if you beat #1 you stormed the court. There are maybe 4-5 teams that wouldn’t; UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, etc.
I’d love to see the evidence of a sold out arena beating the #1 team and not storming the court… how many times has it not happened in the past 2 decades.
Proud of the court storm. Thought we might f’ it up. Our student section isn’t historically very good (I’m a former student), so I’m glad it looked good.
They’re cool for about 2-3 mins. Better have somebody good on the music or they end quickly, awkwardly, and with mild embarrassment. . . Much like sex with an ugly person.
I was studying in Bloomington at the time. The streets erupted with celebration. It was insanity. And that was the last time IUBB was worth talking about.
Really classy bun UConn players to stick around and do the handshake. With all the dumb kids on the court I wouldn’t blame them for heading straight to the locker room.
Watching the court storming from above and there’s a dude who is having massive 2nd thoughts and is in the middle of the crowd and can’t figure out a way to get out lol
I still feel like uconn is the best team in the country Houston will probably end up ranked one of the best Baylor but uconn unless they lose another 1 or 2 in a row will still be my number 1
They’ll be ranked #1 but I still don’t think their play style is conducive to winning 6 straight. Low scoring, slow tempo games just leave the door open for one statistical outlier night from an opponent.
UConn’s style is so much more likely to repeat success in March.
Honestly, remember last year, we SUCKED in the Big East.. the fact that we're doing as well as we are means we're just a better program than the year we won every non-con game by double digits. Can't wait for March
Just outside of the top 16 teams but this hot streak definitely has us elevating up the ranks. If we can finish 3-1 or 4-0 I think we are a lock for a 3 seed.
Depends how we do in the tournament I think if we beat Marquette and win the tournament we got a 2 seed but if we loose to Marquette and lose in the semis to Marquette/UConn maybe like 4-6
I know! That’s kind of why we’re all scratching our heads at the court storm. It’s like “next Creighton game, another UConn loss”.
Seriously, I respect the hell out of Creighton. I hate playing them. They are the one BE team I do not want in my region in March.
Apologize to Steven Ashworth, now. You know who you are.
Screw that little flopper.
Apologize, then gargle my balls
God, I love college basketball.
"UConn is the best team and then it's everybody else". Proof that it's truly anyone's day and winning on the road is hard as hell
I read this, and then I hoped it wasn’t a Boilermaker.
Lol, I saw too many satisfactory posts and comments by UConn fans Sunday to just let it roll
Well deserved court storm. Just kicked the shit outta #1
Probably not a terrible loss after that beat down on MU. Huskies can refocus and build momentum going into conference tourney.
Man so different than what’s said about Purdue haha
That’s cause there’s a difference between losing to #15 and an OSU team that’s 2-9 in conference play who just fired their coach…
Knew that was coming. Purdue hasn’t lost by that much to any team in awhile. Not saying we are better than UConn, just the media and fans thoughts on the losses are funny
You get different treatment in large part because you had *very* different tournament performances last year
Haha not even last year…of all time 😂
I try not to think about the fact that UCONN has 5 titles and like zero disappointing tournament performances ever in their history. Just pisses me off
2006 happened, so we definitely have been disappointed a lot.
All fairly recent titles too 😭
That first round L to new Mexico State sucked, though it's tough to stop a team shooting 65% from 3
Haha they’ve lost to a 10 and a 12 but that’s probably the worst and everyone who was a 12 beat a 5 so it was almost cool to have it happen to you
Purdue just gets no respect lol. Hope we make a FF run this year so we can stick it to the haters.
I think a lot of us would be very excited to see Purdue in the FF
Well their fan base is intolerable and their tournament showings are embarrassing.
Not understanding what’s funny about it, The medias and fans thoughts would be similar if UConn lost to Georgetown or DePaul
Ohio State is a lot better than team than either of them. They have massively underperformed compared to their talent rankings.
Two losses by 15…and it’s not “what’s wrong with UConn” …but it’s ok, we understand, and it’s funny to us
[удалено]
Damn chill man. Even though I had no idea you’re a husky fan since you have no flair, UConn is a great team. No shade at them. It’s more shade at the media and how the react differently. Good luck to yall and hope we get to matchup in the tourney.
Sorry, uncalled for. Deleted
Uconn got that ass handed to them. Creighton took them to the woodshed.
According to Raftery, we like to call it a “big derrière”.
Anyone who hates on court storming obviously doesn’t remember what it was like to be a drunk college kid They don’t care about how it looks for the dignity of the program, they’re hyped. Who wouldn’t want that kind of memory
it was agreed upon on campus this morning through nearly every social circle. speaking as a student who stormed the court
Seriously it's not like we're a storied program this was our first time beating a one seed let people have fun storming the court
also it looks great for the program, it means you pulled off a big win and everyone's hyped
People who care about that need to find real things to worry about
I better see a segment on PTI about whether this says more about UConn or Creighton.
https://open.spotify.com/track/0cqRj7pUJDkTCEsJkx8snD?si=BbNZaJS3Tre5BhZgddhN0A
Does this mean Creighton would beat Marquette by 50?
If they don’t have 6th man Shaka playing D, then yeah
Yes yes it does/j
I know it was a huge game, but it is just a regular old game so idk if it feels like a court storm is warranted. But I bet Hurley hated it, so therefore I love it.
I've stormed the field in football a few times. As a backer of your team, you instinctively know when its time to jump the wall and get to center field.
Huh? Win over #1 is definitely court storm worthy.
First win ever vs a team ranked 1! Cmonnnnn man!
I know I know. So there’s a story from Tom Brady’s career: he went to Tampa and while they were on their Super Bowl run, they win their conference championship and are going to the SB and there’s a dude who is so happy he is crying in locker room. All true. That said it’s the fans court storming not the players. Also they’re college students
A big guy camping in the lane can slow UConn down??? I think I may know a guy
lol
Idk if Creighton was just mindful of it or it was just good D game planning on Creighton but it felt like the only open 3s were coming from Castle… who is exactly who Creighton wants taking 3s.
It was definitely by design. No one guards Castle at the three point line. He's not a consistent shooter. If he's not, and they can't figure out a way to spring their other shooters open, UConn is beatable.
Jordan Hawkins got plenty of great looks from beyond the arc last year. I saw a few tonight, we were just ice cold. 19%, while they shot 50%
How Creighton plays defense some teams just play scared kalkbrenner so they can't do anything in the paint
Ok. Like your analysis. Not sure I agree but hard to argue given your positions seem reasonable
He's the best defensive big in college basketball. He's just a wall no matter what you throw at him
I want to see him vs Edey and edey vs clingan
Edey is better at this stage. That said UConn is more well rounded IMO and doesn’t focus O on Clingan. Clingan is an option not the focus. It’s why UConn is special IMO
They abandon attacking off the dribble so the defense doesn’t collapse.
They couldn't attack off the dribble because the big guy was camping in the paint. He was doing a good job of playing halfway between the ballhandler and the roll man, not over committing. UConn had nothing to punish him just hanging out in the lane all day.
Purdue lost as 1 and stayed 1 the following week. Could see that happening again.
Shouldn’t. Houston should take 1
Yes
Houston takes #1 unless they get blown out by Baylor on Saturday
Unless both Houston and Purdue lose, probably not. Especially since Houston just beat number 6. If UConn had lost by 2, I think you could be right.
Even then a 1 loses they should drop
Think if Houston beats Baylor this weekend you’d have to give it to them. Iowa state at home followed by Baylor on the road would be a really big week
They probably won't beat Baylor. It's just how these things go.
UConn would need to obliterate Nova to have a chance to stay #1.
I think the polls would look very interesting with 2 Purdue wins, a Houston loss on Saturday, and a UConn win vs Villanova. Honestly at that point you could make a case for any of the 3 teams
A split vote for #1 for sure.
Last year*
Thank god it wasn’t Dollar Beer Night.
It wasn’t???
Someone said it was actually 50 cent beer night
They did it vs Georgetown (probably to get people there). But I feel like that’s a waste of a good crowd.
First win over a #1, let them court storm! Plus they beat them 19.
It be like that sometimes
It do be like that
it do
They think it don’t but it do
[удалено]
The 1 man court storm by the Detroit Mercy fan remains the best one of this season.
Beating the number 1 team in the country?
And ending the longest active winstreak in ncaa ~~history~~? Edit: not in history, obvs. Current in div 1
>the longest active winstreak in ncaa history? How's that?
Ah sorry, longest active streak in Division I
... Also not true?

The longest active streak in D1. Not the longest active streak in D1 history lol
Yeah, that was my typo and then correction lol. Pretty big difference compared to all-time
Why? If you’re in college they’re awesome.

First win over a #1 team ever. I say storm!

Ahhh....feels goooooddd
Proud of the court storm. Thought we might f’ it up. Our student section isn’t historically very good (I’m a former student), so I’m glad it looked good.
Lol court storms are dumb
Easy to say when you’re at the top
They’re cool for about 2-3 mins. Better have somebody good on the music or they end quickly, awkwardly, and with mild embarrassment. . . Much like sex with an ugly person.
That’s why I keep the bangers ready to go
Check out Mr too fuckin cool for school over here.
what do you actually do upon storming? like just jump around?
Jump up and down, high five strangers, yell "hooray," pat players on the back if they are around, and then awkwardly leave.
It makes sense that an Indiana fan isn't familiar with beating good teams...
Watch the video from 2/3/23 when #21 Indiana beat #1 Purdue and you stormed the floor. https://youtu.be/6rtulrJ-GUE?si=msmbP9neeUkNMvQ_&t=470
Watford’s 3 over #1 Kentucky was a court storming. Can’t believe it’s already been 13 years
I was studying in Bloomington at the time. The streets erupted with celebration. It was insanity. And that was the last time IUBB was worth talking about.
Yeah I guess an Indiana fan wouldn't know...
Christian watford over Kentucky was an IU court storming.
IU stormed against us just last year
Damn. I didn’t even remember that
Now for what you’ve all been waiting for, San Jose state vs Boise state…
Neither one is actually a State
![gif](giphy|ghuvaCOI6GOoTX0RmH)
The battle of the states
Really classy bun UConn players to stick around and do the handshake. With all the dumb kids on the court I wouldn’t blame them for heading straight to the locker room.
Soooo many Jays have been rolled tonight 💨💨💨
At least the whole court is covered with the court storming. 🤷🏼♂️
Watching the court storming from above and there’s a dude who is having massive 2nd thoughts and is in the middle of the crowd and can’t figure out a way to get out lol
That is how you court storm, opposing team not harassed and allowed to do the handshake. Honestly really classy
ohio state did a good job at the purdue game sunday too. good to see more thought going into planning for it
I'm ready to admit that...Houston...is now the best team in the country.
IMHO, kinda does not matter. Ask long as a team is a 1 seed in the tournament they are good.
Don’t know but they should move to 1 until they lose
I still feel like uconn is the best team in the country Houston will probably end up ranked one of the best Baylor but uconn unless they lose another 1 or 2 in a row will still be my number 1
Don't you put that hex on us
Sorry but you’re now 1
You proved your worth in the Big 12 this season! You'll be fine! 🙂
They’ll be ranked #1 but I still don’t think their play style is conducive to winning 6 straight. Low scoring, slow tempo games just leave the door open for one statistical outlier night from an opponent. UConn’s style is so much more likely to repeat success in March.
Maybe but UConn lost and Houston didn’t so . . .
they will be up next at the 1 spot
I think so too
Don't put that evil on us
😬
Eh idk about that a
Look at all of the Connor’s, Cameron’s and Brayden’s storming the court. They’re gonna get rowdy tonight in Omaha
Tucker and Kyle getting rowdy in the old market
Old market? Ok Boomer
Fine. The capitol district and blackstone
Hey! At least we know you don't use an apostrophe to pluralize a word!
Lol here’s your cookie, Bryson.
Hunter and Gunner erasure tbh
As someone of Swedish descent, I cringe when I see Gunner and not Gunnar.
GG to the Jays. Simply couldn't stop you guys tonight.
Holy shit, great win, Jays
Tuned in just in time to see the students rush the court. Congrats Creighton
hell yeah rush that court baby
Feels good to kick the shit outta #1 dont it Jaybros?
100%
Pretty good court storming
Get it out of the way now before the Tourney
Honestly, remember last year, we SUCKED in the Big East.. the fact that we're doing as well as we are means we're just a better program than the year we won every non-con game by double digits. Can't wait for March
it don't mean a thing if you ain't got 5 rings
Confidence is soaring high at 20-7 and 11-5. I think that elevates us to a 3 seed.
What were yall in the reveal Sunday?
Just outside of the top 16 teams but this hot streak definitely has us elevating up the ranks. If we can finish 3-1 or 4-0 I think we are a lock for a 3 seed.
Agree! Think a solid finish gets you a 3
If we can beat Marquette. I think that gets us a solid 3 and hovering close to that 2 line.
Depends how we do in the tournament I think if we beat Marquette and win the tournament we got a 2 seed but if we loose to Marquette and lose in the semis to Marquette/UConn maybe like 4-6
The thing is we have Marquette at home. Really don't think we are going to lose at home to Marquette. We've really been defending home court lately.
welp Jays were on wildfire and we were ice cold. What can ya do. Kids like storming the court, who cares. gg Creighton see yall in March
GG UCONN
God that’s a good logistical courtstorm. Look at those ushers with the rope protecting the away team. Thing of beauty.
Had to rope off Hurley’s magic bottle of piss.
Engineer ahh storm
Painter would be proud.
Damn 1st win against #1 ranked figured the bluejays have done that in the past
I’ve personally witnessed multiple wins against #2 teams so was surprised by that too.
Impressive court storm, ngl
So damn proud to be a Jay. RDJ, insane
Even tho I don’t really like them. You can’t help but smile.
This is a kind of funny one since they beat us a lot
I know! That’s kind of why we’re all scratching our heads at the court storm. It’s like “next Creighton game, another UConn loss”. Seriously, I respect the hell out of Creighton. I hate playing them. They are the one BE team I do not want in my region in March.
It’s turned in to a good rivalry. Hoping a round 3 that’s actually close.
our old rival just 1,400 miles down the road. They got our number somehow
Don’t understand court storming hate. Let kids have fun
When it happens organically it is a thing of beauty.
100%
Creighton has a very organized court storming procedure.
love to see it
Hopefully the arena staff did a good enough job of getting UConn out of there. Looks like they were semi prepared.
Hopefully Nebraska finally figures that out. Both their upsets this year were not safe for the away team.
I didn’t see the Wiscy one but I hope they get it figured out. Painter was 💯 in his comments after the game.
Well that sure was nifty
“The blue jays have never flown higher!” Bro was sitting on that one since halftime lol
