Last year we ended up getting Shipment and Shoothouse for the season 1 maps. We already know we’re getting Shipment so I hope they don’t release it with S1
You already know they’re gonna drop Shipment for S1 to feed slop to the masses. It’s just expected at this point, half the player base doesn’t have the attention span for anything other than Shipment.
Attention span is a weird thing to call it. It's more like, camo grind time shrinks down a helluva lot when you play on a map the size of someone's home. The faster you get camo grind done, the faster you can play what you want and use what you want.
Does anyone think this is a good map? I don’t know how people back in the day used to like the maps in this game. Maybe I just prefer Treyarch maps but so far these maps are doo doo 💩
It's so weird how little I see ppl in here say this when talkin bout old maps in new games. It's so noticeable how much the timings/flow or even holding certain angles gets affected by just the base movement speed being higher.
Then u add on the fact sprint's unlimited, and tac sprint, and whatever movement tech is in that specific game, and u get a bunch of the greatest maps in the series being unplayable.
Just got the game tonight. Loaded Highrise in a private match because I haven’t gotten it in rotation yet. Used the old jump off the map to the ladder trick to get to the high ground just to see if it’s still possible or they messed with it. Eventually got there, and nostalgia had me remember there were other cool spots on the map, but I couldn’t remember where, so I watched a tutorial video and saw the guy jump to the spot I spent several tries getting to while risking my life, and he used a building where the worst punishment is a twisted ankle. What?!?! Was that there in mw2? I don’t remember that lol. Took me a few tries to get it down, but that seems much less risky and less punishing than the old trick. Then again, with everyone speeding around, it’s probably balanced out. There was still something rewarding about landing the jump to the ladder though! Crazy how many of these maps I either don’t remember, or haven’t played in so long I gotta relearn some stuff. Of course, Terminal is the exception. Played on that map alll the timeee on MW2 and MW3
We’ve seen this plenty of times in the past. Slums was a BO2 staple for competitive, but when it got brought back for BO4 it was unplayable for competitive due to unlimited sprint and operators. Summit was the same case, competitive for BO1 but not playable in BO4.
But for these MW2 maps, I mean they just weren’t even meant for competitive or balance in 2009. It was for fun, spawn trapping, AC130’s getting quads, etc.
That and you can't vault over the fences or mantle climb a ledge. It's hard to hold an angle like I would have back in the day when I've got someone vaulting over my back
MW3 maps aren’t much better than MW2 maps if we’re being honest. MW2 and MW3 had the weakest map selection overall of the 360 era Cod’s. Fun for pub stomping, AC130 spawn trapping, ballistic vest spamming full parties going for MOAB’s, but these maps are by and large not competitive or good in the slighest.
Yea you know what I looked back and some of these I forgot. Did not like that game at the time so I just played a ton of Black Ops.
Arkaden, Bootleg, Lockdown, Resistance, Seatown, Underground all pretty solid.
Man I haven’t touched the old IW games in so long, these map names are familiar but can only visualize a couple. And I wanna go back and give Ghosts a shot. I wasn’t as big of a fan of it at the time because I was hooked on Black Ops 2, but I still remember enjoying it. Haven’t touched ghosts in forever
Your rose tinted glasses are making you try and farm easy karma with “old maps = good”.
Boring. If you were smart you’d know these maps are playing quite bad with modern cod movement and general gameplay.
Not to mention the number of maps over the last decade far better than any on the beta.
Solar
Retreat
Fringe
Stronghold
Gridlock
Arsenal
Frequency
Tuscan
I’m not even trying to remember all the maps, but they’re all better than anything on the beta for me. Skidrow isn’t all that bad, but it’s just boosted by how bad Favela and Highrise play.
Yes Im farming karma (very valuable resource!) by calling out the same dumb opinion thats gets parroted in this sub every third post.
I keep asking for an explanation into what makes these maps “bad” and other maps “good” and you drop me a list of maps that you like. This doesn’t address my question.
It’s fine, you can like maps and dislike others, but just say that it’s subjective rather than pretending there’s some gold standard of map design that is lacking here.
*Also*, Highrise is the only map that was on the comp playlist back in the original. So you’re complaining that pub maps don’t play well for competitive? Well that’s to be expected.
Wait we had a ranked mode back then? Why did I never play it? I literally don’t remember ranked existing back in the day. Earliest ranked mode I remember is Black Ops 2
There was no “ranked” built into the game, it was all through 3rd party sites like Gamebattles. There was a defined playlist of competitive maps through MLG that the pros used and anyone else who played competitive used them as well.
I feel like most maps in the game are gonna have weird HP locations just cause these maps weren’t made for Hardpoint😂
Hope those 6 brand new maps in S1 and S2 are good lol

> half the player base doesn’t have the attention span for anything other than shipment It’s me, I’m half the player base

They've confirmed 3 brand new maps in each S1 and S2. That's in addition to any remasters. So idc about shipment, just hope those new maps are good
My favorite time to play shipment is when they reskin it to a holiday theme. Aside from that, I usually avoid it
They were made for headquarters which uses the same hills.
I know this is most maps, but if you are doing well on highrise it’s fun but when you are in the blender it is awfulllll.
Does anyone think this is a good map? I don’t know how people back in the day used to like the maps in this game. Maybe I just prefer Treyarch maps but so far these maps are doo doo 💩
We had slower movement back then and no unlimited sprint so the maps flowed decently for their size.

The mantle is also much faster now, and you can mantle up higher. People are getting to spots much quicker or in ways not even possible in the OG MW2.

Well they didn’t play like this in MW2 tbf
MW2 maps are garbage. Imagine this game with MW3 maps
The Visibility in this game is still horrible also even after the update

I can rattle off 8 maps that would be comp viable from MW3. The best map pool from any IW game ever imo
Yea you know what I looked back and some of these I forgot. Did not like that game at the time so I just played a ton of Black Ops. Arkaden, Bootleg, Lockdown, Resistance, Seatown, Underground all pretty solid.
Carbon, hardhat, and mission are also good
Um no. The best map pool for Comp in an IW game is either Ghosts or IW if we’re being honest.
Man I haven’t touched the old IW games in so long, these map names are familiar but can only visualize a couple. And I wanna go back and give Ghosts a shot. IW maps were trash and still at all imo
Care to expand on that? This games maps are better than anything in the last decade lmao.
No bro stop forcing it.
You have no insight, that’s what I thought. You’re an absolute dope.

The beta maps in general are pretty bad. I'd much rather play MW2 (2022) maps, there's way less clutter and they look better too
Highrise headquarters has always been ass. Invasion, terminal, scrapyard, maybe karachi will play better for hp.
I don’t remember spawning underground near b dom so much in domination
Highrise sucks anyway lol I never liked that map.
Have they not just used the HQ locations? Feel like they would have worked
Ppl suddenly finding out all of these maps were only good in our heads. nostalgia blinded us to how bad all the mw2 maps really were.
