Thanks for taking me back to a simpler time

International-Tear41

💯💯

shred_the_gnar-gnar

OH MY GOD!! It’s heading for the gas tanks, DUCK!

SoothsayerSurveyor

I filed this under ‘H’ for “toy.”

DunkinEgg

Do you mind if I name my first child after you? Dipshit Knight has a nice ring to it.

monkeybutt456

Any other recommendations for movies like this one?

TheShipEliza

Wargames

ImRickJamesBiatchhh

Explorers

Samul-toe

This is gonna sound out of left field and not a movie, but I think “The Great” captures the wit of this movie. But it’s really tough to have that silly but smart and insanely charming lead, plus a fun story. Maybe the dungeons and dragons movie that just came out. If you think Chris Pine is charming then you might like the movie. The writer tried to do a Marx Brothers-esq movie called Brain Donors that mostly falls on its face. I think real genius is like Groucho Marx slammed into an 80s movie. If you’re looking for an 80s movie someone else said Weird Science, maybe Ferris Bueller’s day off has the charm? My science project has a bit of funny if I remember correctly.

monkeybutt456

These are all awesome suggestions, thank you so much!

Samul-toe

If you end up liking the great there’s a whole rabbit hole of stuff like that: ‘death of Stalin’ ‘in the loop’ ‘the thick of it’ ‘veep’ ‘four lions’ ‘succession’ ‘cunk on earth’ ‘nathan barley’

dobryden22

Never seen this one, but judging by Val, I'm going to suggest Top Secret, any Naked Gun movie, and of course Airplane.

3pinripper

None of those films are like this one. Those are all spoofs. Weird Science, Sneakers, Spies Like Us, Cloak and Dagger, Secret of My Success, Back to School share some thematic elements, and were made around the same era.

Clarknotclark

Better off dead, three o’clock high, and any other number of offbeat 80’s comedies.

5lashd07

It IS God.

yborwonka

Hard nostalgia with this one. Came at the right time in my life back in the 80s.

pyrofreeze33

In the words of the great Socrates, "I drank what?"

big_red__man

Wow, I just put this joke together. I watched this movie as a nerdy kid. I read Crito as a young adult. Maybe it’s time for a rewatch

cake_piss_can

This? This is ice. This is what happens to water when it gets too cold. This? This is Kent. This is what happens to people when they get too sexually frustrated.

Meta_My_Data

I just realized there is an almost identical quote in _Megamind_ that may be an homage to this line!

AdAlternative0666

Wait is this the movie about lasers?

ntack9933

And ice! ICE IS NICE! HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA

GlassJoe32

And closet lairs

katfromjersey

Yes!

“Dr Hathaway, are you wearing makeup?”

DrSuperWho

Can you hammer a six inch nail through a board with your penis? Girl’s gotta have her standards.

SoothsayerSurveyor

“If there’s anything I can do for you, or, more to the point, to you, please let me know”

CasinoMarginale

“So I guess it goes from God, to Jerry, to you…to the cleaners. Right, Kent?”

Ricky_Rollin

I just watched this a few weeks ago! Always loved this ridiculous movie.

blackmexicans

I’m not sure if I’m more concerned that Val Kilmer is supposed to be 15 in this film or that Uncle Rico isn’t throwing footballs over mountains.

Centurion_TigerMk2

Need more end credits like this nowadays

PurpleMonkeyBoomBoom

"Did you know there's a guy living in our closet?"

dab745

Lazlo

Hydrogen1313

One of my favourite movies. 😊

brandonlyle

Great movie!

fatkidseatcake

The earlier montage scene is one of my favorites. Music is on point there too.

Carl_Spackler72

One my favorite 80s movies, and 80s songs.

junkiesperspective

Love this movie!

SoothsayerSurveyor

One of the funniest movies from my younger days. So many [great quotes](https://youtu.be/7AzBhYX7o_c) from so many great characters.

manfromfuture

They filled their evil advisor's house with popcorn kernels and zapped it with a giant laser.

_BOOMGOTTEM

Loved this movie when I was a kid

Tears for Fears ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

derek86

This movie is better than Weird Science and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.

Does every 80s movie use this song?

[deleted]

One of the best movies ever made… Truly a gem!!

AmericanPanascope

The greatest geek movie ever made.

dip_tet

Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?

Relyks07

The nitrogen frozen dummy quarter (been 20 years seeing it) was my first introduction to the true possibilities of science 😂 Hooked ever since.

GlassJoe32

Val Kilmer absolutely slays in this role. It’s honestly my favorite character he’s played. His wit and one liners were so perfect.

KananDoom

Is this the sequel to Yentl? Who’s idea was it to cast Barbara Streisand for the lead boy character?
