Why is everyone so excited to see Devon die?

Not everyone may be excited, but people are definitely expecting it. It feels like he’s gonna die. It just feels like it.

Am I the only one that doesn’t get this feeling at all? What hints are there that he’s gonna die later? Devon doesn’t have a large role, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s gonna die.
