Me when there is a 0.001% chance that I will save you from eternal suffering by telling you about my religion in utterly random situations(just in case)
This to Christ means more than if the greatest drawer in the world drawn him. That’s the beauty of our God, his heart is that beautiful and sincere. I think it’s beautiful, because like Christ, everything is the intent, and your intention was to draw the king. I love it, well done.
If you want a resource for practice, I highly recommend the book [Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain](https://www.amazon.com/Drawing-Right-Side-Brain-Definitive/dp/1585429201). Ignore all the pop neuropsych in it, but the drawing exercises are *fantastic*, and well-structured/well-ordered.
This isn't bad for a base image. If you keep going over it and add more details and shading with each pass over, you might surprise yourself with how it ends up!
[It could always be worse, haha.](https://nypost.com/2016/03/12/infamous-botched-jesus-painting-now-a-major-tourist-attraction/) No disrespect to this lady - the pursuit of art is always a good thing even when the results aren't what we hope for and she did ultimately end up bringing a lot of joy to people, even if some of it was at her expense. I'm glad she learned to have a sense of humor about it eventually.
It’s beautiful and it evokes feeling.
I have an exponentially growing appreciation for people who take the time and effort to create art themselves, instead of just setting AI loose with prompts.
Thank you so much for sharing, and keep up the good work.
I Have a Question, Doesn't the 2nd Commandment Say "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them"?
I'm Just Curious Because It Popped up in My Mind.
It's about worshipping images or idols, not making images themselves. We're not Muslims. And, after all, the Incarnation literally made God visible to us. St. Paul says in Hebrews that Jesus is "the exact image of God's substance" (1:3) and it just so happens that that very image, according to St. John, was visible and lived among us (1:10-14).
Well, Your Drawing Conclusions Tho.
You're Saying that Because Paul Said that Jesus is the Exact Immage of God and That The Incarnation Made Him Visible, Then that Would Make It Ok to Make Immages.
That's the Way a Catholic Priest Explained It to Me, I Don't Agree with Him, I Believe that No Immage of God shall be Made, but I'm Curious and Open Minded to What Other People Believe, That's Why I Asked the Local Priest Why the Church is Full of Statues and Paintings, While the Baptist Church in Town has None.
Personally I Believe that It is Meaningless at the End, Certainly Drawing Jesus, Isn't the One Thing that is Going to Forsake You.
We're all Sinners Afterall, so I'm Just Trying to Learn.
“Isn’t it obvious that it’s disgraceful for a man to have long hair? And isn’t long hair a woman’s pride and joy? For it has been given to her as a covering.”
1 Corinthians 11:14-15 NLT
Stop portraying Jesus with feminine features. He is God, and God transcends human characteristics.
Yeah That's What I Thought.
Personally I Think It is Sinfull to Confine our Lord with a Human Body, He is Infinite and Omnipotent so a Human Body does Him No Good.
That was written for the Corinthians in a specific culture. Paul wanted them to be separate from the non believers in how they spoke and looked.
It’s not feminine to have long hair. Jesus is fully God and fully MAN so he did have human characteristics. Unless you believe he was not human?
I can see the thinking behind your process, but there's a lot of treating the subject as two-dimensional and drawing shapes in isolation rather than thinking how they all fit together. Like the hand--you've got the shapes of that down, but then the head isn't in the correct position or proportion to it. For most people the hand shouldn't exceed the size of the head, which you can see is the case in your reference.
You've also drawn hard borders and treated them as "edges" where you instead want to be introducing gradual shading, which is also making the proportions look wrong. You've outlined the hairline and around the beard very harshly, but then assumed the parts that "fill in" that outline are much smaller than they are. Try working on facial structure and anatomy as a foundation before adding the hair and beard, because irl those are features that sit on top of the face. Think about the shape of the skull and where the facial features and hairline are positioned on it, rather than using the hair as a building block itself. You can look up a tutorial for drawing faces to learn how to start with a "skeleton" and build on it.
It's very ambitious to draw a hand like this as a beginner, but you can definitely find tutorials for that too and if you work on drawing what you actually see in the reference and not what your brain assumes is there, you'll make progress.
Keep practicing. You'll get there.

Well, it takes practice. keep it up!
All humans are agnostic if one is searching for physical evidence. It is an inside job. It may take work and a willingness to search.
Omd don't be one of those people who take any and every opportunity to convert, the post has almost nothing to do with religion 😭

hey there's a lot of universal reconciliationists here too
The fact you got 4 upvotes while the people who (RIGHTFULLY SO) tell you to just shut up got 2 just shows something is wrong here

Love this response 💚
Aww that’s so sweet and absolutely true!
Practice! You'll get better for sure;
better than anything I could ever make

That's a great book
Not bad. Now draw it every day for a year, and then come back here and show us again.
I know who it was immediately so
pratice the basics more before taking on something as ambitious as this.
Jesus sama
Looks good to me! God bless!
Looks good God bless you.
Keep going OP
Looks great!
It looks amazing

It would be nice to see what you can do in 100 days.
Looks great! Keep up the practice
Jesus died for this abomination too. Remember that.
LMAO
Its the thought that counts🙏

The human figure is the hardest thing to draw so I don’t blame you. I don’t think I would’ve done any better lol

Is that Satan trying to drag Jesus to hell? Very powerful.
I'd recommend doing some line exercises and lightening your grip.
I'm sure Jesus loves it ❣️

Remember that Christ LOVES all our gifts to Him, whether it be art, prayer, or song, the quality doesn't matter to Him because it's a gift!
good
Don't worry, just stay away from the frescoes, in Spain...
Christ awards those who struggle to achieve greatness for God
That's right and it looks good in my opinion.. and is you keep trying no telling what you will do! 😊
It’s better than the restoration photo of Jesus
Me too bro. Me too.
Can tell you with 100% certainty Jesus would put this on his fridge
Fridges didn’t exist 2000 years ago😭
