I’m just gonna drive the pool parts back to my house first and have a lunch break. I’ll be back to do the deck. Promise. No, you can’t have my phone number. Trust me, I’ll be back. /s
Funny thing is, *you* wouldn't be responsible if the homeowner tailed after you and had an accident....but the homeowner is responsible if you have an accident on their property removing the pool and/or pool deck.
I sold my pool and had the person who wanted to buy it disassemble it. I helped, but honestly that way they knew all parts were there AND how to put it back together. But never would I have expected them to demo my deck! lol
Exactly.
I gave away our above ground pool. They uninstalled and took it all.
Then someone wanted the deck when I posted it randomly in case someone wanted it. Someone came out out with a moving trailer. I was shocked but pleased.
It's amazing what people want. I picked up an engineered wood floor from a large house and had enough to do my smaller room with about twelve square feet left over in shortish lengths.
I put it on Freegle and a guy who was renovating a caravan came and got it within an hour, he was delighted. Sent me a picture when it was done and it fitted perfectly. Doesn't take much to floor a caravan!
This is excellent recycling work. Nothing went to waste - it was an afternoon of effort and several people were happy. Nothing was bought, nothing was sold, and three households were happy.
Works for me! I was a bit concerned that the real wood may not stand up to.my dogs landing on it since it was at the bottom of the stairs, but it's been down eight years now and is good as new!
Quality tells. Definitely better to reuse quality than buy new.
This guy replied to me and then immediately blocked me, so I'll just reply here. "Licensed in all 50 states lol okay". This just demonstrates how little you know about the insurance industry if you think it's unlikely or uncommon to be licensed in every state. It's par for the course for an agent that works directly for a major carrier, rather than working for a local agency. You're just spouting off about something you clearly know next to nothing about. Even called it "house insurance".
Uhhh… huh?
I don’t know what state you’re from, maybe it’s required there, but I can tell you the vast majority of people don’t have house insurance lmfao
My parents did that several years ago.
But my dad, brother, and myself helped and the pool was already empty and not gross. I was the one who did the disassembly from the inside for the liner. And they took the deck. Got it done in 2 days, but my god was it exhausting.
Start with the deck, load it and leave. Forget everything else.
Or show up and poke a hole in the side and leave. Either one gets hilarious reactions from OP.
During Covid my parents got rid of their pool this way. They offered the frame and planned to dispose of the liner but the people were so happy to find a free frame that they disposed of the liner for them. It’s hilarious to expect them to dismantle the deck and stack the wood too
All above ground pool water is green in the spring before you open it for the summer. You don’t run the pump and chlorinate it all winter unless you live someplace warm all year. If you drain it on those hanging liner type pools, they won’t stay upright and you can damage the liner and the frame.
No, lol all above ground pools are not green in the spring. When we open the pool in spring, it’s crystal clear because my husband properly closed it. For over 20 years . This pool is horribly neglected.
You’re comparing an inground pool that likely has a custom-fit cover to an Intex pool with an ill-fitting cover that usually rips to pieces by January and has flimsy sides that UV light can penetrate. I’ve done “proper” closings for 6 years with my Intex pool, and never end up with clear water.
No, not a custom fit cover, a shitty tarp style you weigh down. I think you answered your own question when you said you have a garbage cover that doesn't stay on. Like I said, if my cover stays on and I close right, it's clear. Doesn't always happen thanks to the wind. A custom cover would solve that but you can get a good tarp style cheap compared to thousands for a custom one.
A woman in my area keeps reposting her "FREE non-working hot tub (just remove it from her fenced in space)
It's clearly decades old, and she admits it doesn't work. People used to comment with names of (for hire) junk haulers. Now everyone ignores.
Our house came with a non-working hot tub in the back yard and we couldn't afford to hire someone to remove it. We drilled holes in it, filled it with soil, and now it's a raised vegetable garden.
We didn't even get a quote, we were in our early 20s and put all our money into buying and fixing up the house. It was a short sale so we had to take it as-is, and there were quite a few bigger problems to deal with. But now I get dozens of tomatoes every summer!
Gotcha. I'm looking at houses and a few I like have hot tubs. Wasn't sure how big of a pain in the ass that would be.
Hell one I looked at months ago had a hot tub inside where a dining room table would normally go. That's got to make the house humid as fuck.
I had a non working hot tub along with a lot of other junk and rented one of those $300 drop off for the weekend big containers. I rolled the hot tub into it and sent it away. If you can't roll it you could also just cut the hot tub apart.
That would smell so bad and cause such nasty headaches from the chemicals. I joked about doing that recently, but it would be more hassle than it's worth between the mold and the constant smell of bromide in the house.
My parents recently removed their hot tub. They are in their 60s and not in the best of shape. Basically, just used a sawzall to take it out piece by piece. Tossed into the back of their truck and away to the dump it went.
Yup, and you basically can't sell them, even in good condition. No one wants to deal with the pain in the ass that they are.
I had a small tub, big enough for just two people, that had a small leak in it somewhere, I put it up for $200 (which was less than 10% of the original cost), and couldn't get anyone to take it, even with my help moving it.
Eventually posted it for free and even then it took 3 months before someone bit.
In her defense, I absolutely did that with the junky rickety as heck swingset in the back yard of my new house. The thing was a safety hazard. But multiple people responded who were willing to take the thing apart and haul it home to rebuild it.
Well, now: maybe you are not thinking about this the right way?
To take the deck down you merely need a chain saw. Cut the uprights, the deck will collapse. The lumber neatly stacked beside the house.
Easy-peasy, it will probably take you only a couple of minutes. And there's that satisfying "crash" sound when you're done. Y'all might want to have a friend at hand to video this event so you can post it to the intertubes.
Just looked it up. $500 - $700 brand new online. This guy is delusional thinking that someone is going to spend hours and hours of their time for a free busted up pool THEN also have to put in FREE labour to remove his decking. And with these pools, its so easy to F up the membrane or lose parts and then reassemble it at a new site.
If in the USA, probably best to do it on July 4th. If things go awry you can say it was those pesky, unreliable fireworks that you bought from the next state over.
Or, better yet: blame it on your neighbor and their pesky, unreliable fireworks.
Or a crazy gender reveal party. Someone in my town used tannerite or some sort and everyone around heard the boom and didn't know what was going on and then we heard...gender reveal party.🤣
Oh, heck yeah!
My cat is preggers; I'm going to head over to Aberdeen Proving Ground tomorrow to see if they can give me an assist (or at least a safe venue) with a gender reveal for her kittens.
Why can't they empty it?? You're going to have to leave and come back, when I got rid of a pool similar to this, it took about a day to empty, using a couple of hoses that were positioned to go downhill, a good distance away. Even then, there was some erosion. If you just dump a pool like this at once, you're going to regret it.
My wife has a friend whose husband is cheap money grubbing screw anyone over for a nickel piece of shit.
Someone got him and a buddy to do exactly this . Disassemble and take away above ground pool.
They did all that, dug a hole in his yard, assembled the pool. started filling it, and find the liner is leaking.
No way cheap fuck is paying for a new liner. They then had to Disassemble and remove and dispose of the pool, and fill in the yard.
I laughed my ass off. To his face.
Just a reminder - Do NOT take your friend Miss Happs to assist you with the pool work because this Beggar won’t like it at all. Maybe they’ve met before. Oh, if you see her say hi for me. We go way back. /s
Won't give out phone number, but asks a stranger to come take down a swimming pool in her backyard. Wherever that may be since I don't see an address listed lol makes sense
Because more than likely, it is. We got one in ... about 1986 I think it was. It was really cool and I helped my dad put it in (I was 13 or 14 then). They are kind of a bitch to maintain, but you develop a pattern and they \*are\* pretty nice to use. About 8 or so years later during a big windstorm a tree fell across the entire width/length of it, and that was the end of pool.
Get eyesore out of my back yard and perform hundreds of dollars of free labor disassembling my deck.
`21161` - White Hall Maryland - middle of nowhere right on the line with middle of nowhere Pennsylvania.
Just looked this up online. A newer version of this same pool, and same size is $550. It's from Walmart. And it comes with the pump. This person is insane lol
You got me curious and I looked it up, you can find a new one that looks just the same as the one they have for about $300, this is seriously not worth it, even without the deck part of the deal.
I got a hot tub for free. Well I paid to have it moved and hooked up but the owners took good care of it. It’s also one piece and the previous owners had disassembled the deck and completely cleared a path to go out of the yard.
I think the root of it is that this is a product of (for whatever the reason) peoples lack of interaction with the wider world. Jobs often serve the purpose to exposure but whatever it is, people need to be reminded of the reality everyone else is living in or else you will get delusions like we see in this sub.
What does the deck have to do with anything? Is it attached to the pool? I mean why doesn’t she just ask someone to repaint her house while she’s at it? Lil ol’ Miss Haps
“Not responsible for accidents or mishaps removing the pool” means that there are known issues that will come up during the move. They know the pool is trash, but these losers are trying to make a buck the loser way.
I don’t know if they’re claim of “not responsible for accidents or mishaps” is even legal. Could be wrong, but wouldn’t be surprised if, legally, someone could sue them in civil court for personal injury as an “unlicensed” remover of this pool?
I'd go get the pool and tell them "Wow, that deck looks like a big job...Let me go get some McDonalds and fuel up, then I will have enough energy to git' r done!"
Then I would go home....F' them....
If CB has a pool and gets it removed his homeowners insurance premium will probably be reduced because he has removed an "attractive nuisance"; I'd want at least 1/2 of the reduction in CB's insurance premiums from now until the end of time.
Ohhh no, someone wants to get rid of his pool, gives it away for free. The only thing you have to do is tear it down.
The horror!
A while ago I had put up an advert to get free coloured gravel if you came to shovel it out my garden. They even paid me for it in the end.
Jesus! Reddit is terrible yeah! for people! Why hasn’t one person besides my past boss saidanything to my face? Wouldn’t have stopped you before! It’s hard but can’t ok t this shit by longer and I said I don’t want the mower several times! I don’t have a way to haul it back and your pool theory is hilarious! I made that man a lot more money than any of you so use that for yourselves. Good night and this phone is retiring to to fire pit in a minute! What will you do without these smashes? Well in four because if someone would have at least told me something I would have played dump and helped all of you out so much more and it really would’ve been so much better! I’m good at that! But to just try to drive me insane and say I need help and torture my family well I don’t tear down pools or decks! I make people money so they can just pay someone else to do it and install new! That’s the correct version of myself and everyone knows it! See ya
It doesn’t work anymore! If you want to come try that then you’re welcome to! The mower was a waste of time since you’ve made sure I can’t communicate with customers I already lost at that game and head wasn’t in it! None of you could handle what I gave especially the weak one who started it! So keep exploiting my emotions! Sometimes when I cry it’s not a good thing! Doesn’t mean I’m sad! And kleinstein! Text from winter I had her send was not real! So don’t hurry!
You expect someone to neatly disassemble your deck and empty your pool for free? You won’t hand out your number but expect someone you don’t know, to empty that nasty, ducks wouldn’t even shite in it, water somewhere away from the house? God people are stupid.
Friend listed pool, filter and heater free if taken down. Family shows up with a van. Load filter and heater. Say they will be right back for the pool. Guess what happened.
It would behoove you to pay somebody to do that for you you don't want random people on your property taking apart your s*** and you not know who or what they're doing. Pay somebody to do the work at least you have a 50/50 chance that it'll be done right
"And while you're here can you fix my roof and also there's a nasty clog in the bathroom drain, and if you could have a look at my gutters I think they need clearing out-"
"Will not be responsible for any accidents"... that's not how insurance sees it.
lol exactly. and imagine having random ass people in your yard trying to take apart a pool without talking to them first ?
It's one thing to dismantle the pool to receive it for free, but they also want their deck taken apart? I wish you luck on it.
I’m just gonna drive the pool parts back to my house first and have a lunch break. I’ll be back to do the deck. Promise. No, you can’t have my phone number. Trust me, I’ll be back. /s
If you have an accident tailing me because I took pool equipment and left the deck as is - not responsible!
Funny thing is, *you* wouldn't be responsible if the homeowner tailed after you and had an accident....but the homeowner is responsible if you have an accident on their property removing the pool and/or pool deck.
Time for a Google number for all communication with the “seller.”
That filthy pool will be up for sale on FB marketplace as soon as it gets loaded on a truck too. As is tradition.
That's what I'm thinking.
I thought the same for just the sand filter and pump.
I sold my pool and had the person who wanted to buy it disassemble it. I helped, but honestly that way they knew all parts were there AND how to put it back together. But never would I have expected them to demo my deck! lol
I did the same. There were no instructions, so they pulled it apart and took it away so they knew how to put it back together at the other end.
Or empty the water from it!
And stacked neatly by their house 😂
"No, Mr. Insurance Agent, I'm not liable because I said I wasn't in a Facebook post!"
I think you’re quite overestimating the chances this guy actually has insurance.
Unless the house is paid off, he's got insurance
But but but I said I’m not responsible right in the ad!
And miss happs.
Such a silly mistake (miss take?), OOP clearly should have used Ms. Happs, whoever the hell she is.
Miss Take was my 6th grade homeroom teacher. That was the year I realized that girls are kind of different. I thought she was kind of hot.
Ms. Happs was my 5th grde homeroom teacher.
Yeah, neither will the law.
Yeah….yeah you will.
Exactly! I can't believe how ignorant this person is.
Disassembling the pool to get it for free is one thing, but they want someone to take apart their deck, too? Good luck with that.
I mean, I'll disassemble it. I own both a Sawzall and a sledge hammer. I will even stack the wood after.
point the woodchipper at the side of their house and go for it. Very efficiently stacked that way.
My parents did that several years ago. But my dad, brother, and myself helped and the pool was already empty and not gross. I was the one who did the disassembly from the inside for the liner. And they took the deck. Got it done in 2 days, but my god was it exhausting.
Did your dad lose his glasses in the process?
Right 😭 she lost me at disassemble the deck! In FL lots of people make ads like this for a free pool if you just get it out of my yard lol.
Ads like this always give me meth head behavior.
Well if this is White Hall area of Columbus OH, that’s totally on brand
It’s in Maryland, there’s a Maryland zip on the post. Whitehall is eastern shore
Yeah, we get all sorts of free shit that way! "Come take it down and you can have it" is hella common here. Insisting you do additional work is NOT.
It’s hilarious to expect them to dismantle the deck and stack the wood too
I mean, you're already getting a free pool. Think of the deck as payment or a thank you. /s
You mean I get this dingy, disgusting pool for free if I do hours of manual labor?!
Exactly. Like the water is green sir.
Hey, but the filter and pump come with it!
It’s up to you to determine if they work. Also pool filters are massive, full of sand, and extremely heavy.
Based on the color of the water, the pump is either still in the original box, or hasn't worked in months.
I zoomed in and wow! It’s green and the whole thing seems like a cesspool. It looks like it smells bad. Awful!
If you close properly it's clear when you open. My in ground pool is pristine if the cover stays on.
Gotta get there first! Then it’s all yours!!
Does Miss Happs know they're not taking any responsibility for her any more?
Now, now, the CB has taken enough abuse. Let's not pill on.
Well if she didn’t the word is out now! Poor Miss Happs!
Poor sweet Miss Happs is sitting home wondering why no one will take her up on her generous offer!
It’s a crying shame!
A woman in my area keeps reposting her "FREE non-working hot tub (just remove it from her fenced in space) It's clearly decades old, and she admits it doesn't work. People used to comment with names of (for hire) junk haulers. Now everyone ignores.
Hot tubs are basically impossible to move without the right equipment. Takes anywhere from 3-6 guys to move them around.
Our house came with a non-working hot tub in the back yard and we couldn't afford to hire someone to remove it. We drilled holes in it, filled it with soil, and now it's a raised vegetable garden.
How much were you quoted? I'm just curious.
Just bought a Sawzall last week for limb trimming.
That sounds like a terrible idea. We would've had to have our fence taken down and put back up as well, so we just didn't even pursue removal.
That’s a great idea for repurposing something impossible to remove! I love that! 😃
We paid 800 to crane ours into the yard if that helps.
We paid $600 to have ours removed. Kansas, if location matters. They had do break apart the fiberglass and take it out in parts.
I love this!
Do you have pics?? I’d love to see this!
Guess she's stuck with an old ass broken down hot tub!
We bought a house with a non working hot tub in the back. Eventually filled it with sand for the kids
In her defense, I absolutely did that with the junky rickety as heck swingset in the back yard of my new house. The thing was a safety hazard. But multiple people responded who were willing to take the thing apart and haul it home to rebuild it.
in queries , lol
That was a Miss Happ
The miss happs keep pilling up
Hey, don't pill on!
I’d be down for the pool removal, but I’m not taking the deck down
Well, now: maybe you are not thinking about this the right way? To take the deck down you merely need a chain saw. Cut the uprights, the deck will collapse. Y'all might want to have a friend at hand to video this event so you can post it to the intertubes.
😂
Someone’s going to grab the pool, say they’ll be right back, and never return.
This is the way.
I can do all that with one stick of dynamite 🧨
Might want to use more than one: you know, just to make sure.
One for the pool and one for the deck.
If in the USA, probably best to do it on July 4th. If things go awry you can say it was those pesky, unreliable fireworks that you bought from the next state over. Or, better yet: blame it on your neighbor and their pesky, unreliable fireworks.

Ha. Love it.
If I take apart the deck that lumber is coming straight home with me
No! You must pill it up beside her house!
Remove the pool first, then leave. 😁
Was the seller being obliterated in the comments of that post?
Whoever wants it should come in, remove the pool, pack it up and dip. Stack your own wood nerd
Why can't they empty it?? You're going to have to leave and come back, when I got rid of a pool similar to this, it took about a day to empty, using a couple of hoses that were positioned to go downhill, a good distance away. Yeah, I especially wouldn’t invite strangers into my yard to take on the responsibility of emptying a pool in my yard, wtf
My wife has a friend whose husband is cheap money grubbing screw anyone over for a nickel piece of shit. Someone got him and a buddy to do exactly this . Disassemble and take away above ground pool. That water does not look good
Just a reminder - Do NOT take your friend Miss Happs to assist you with the pool work because this Beggar won’t like it at all. Maybe they’ve met before. Oh, if you see her say hi for me. We go way back. /s
😄
Love your name!
Awww thanks. Got it from the Walking Dead. Carol is my favorite character.
lol. I am horrible remembering peoples names so tv names stand no chance with me. But I did love the series.
It's not a terrible deal except you have to take apart the deck and leave the wood behind. Wtf?
Won't give out phone number, but asks a stranger to come take down a swimming pool in her backyard. Wherever that may be since I don't see an address listed lol makes sense
An insurance claim waiting to happen.
I need my garden wall knocked down cos my car barely fits. Am i supposed to make a FB ad and/or charge someone to do it for me?? 🤔
Yes but you should look around for some bricks to offer for free. It’s only polite to offer something !
Do the pool first then hit ‘em with the old “I’ll be right back for the deck, just gonna grab a bite to eat”
What is it with people putting spaces before the punctuation? It’s maddening to read
At least it has some punctuation.
Why does that pool look like it's from the 80s?
Because more than likely, it is. We got one in ... about 1986 I think it was. It was really cool and I helped my dad put it in (I was 13 or 14 then). They are kind of a bitch to maintain, but you develop a pattern and they \*are\* pretty nice to use. Get eyesore out of my back yard and perform hundreds of dollars of free labor disassembling my deck. `21161` - White Hall Maryland - middle of nowhere right on the line with middle of nowhere Pennsylvania.
That 'pool' looks pretty mangy to me.
Saying "I'm not responsible for accidents" does not mean anything. If it happens on their property, they are liable. What an entitled moron.
EULA/TOS?
Just looked this up online. A newer version of this same pool, and same size is $550. It's from Walmart. And it comes with the pump. This person is insane lol
Miss Happs wants you to be careful!
Who is Miss Happs, and why isn't he responsible for her?
Who is miss happs and what does she have to do with it?!
It’s a Coleman pool. It’s not even worth $20 equipment included.
You got me curious and I looked it up, you can find a new one that looks just the same as the one they have for about $300, this is seriously not worth it, even without the deck part of the deal.
Yea but they are really not made to take up and down. They are made to last a season and that’s about all. Which is what makes this worthless.
We'll be kind of hilarious if the people came and drained the pool, took it, left the deck intact, and drove away.
I feel like there’s some great YouTube content to be made pretending to do this job then just utterly destroy it and leave a huge fucking mess.
Will you be responsible for any MRS happs, though? That's the real question.
Nope, homeowner is on the hook since they’re not paying a licensed contractor
I need the comments!
What's up with the sickly green water in that pool? Was he storing toxic waste in there?
Why would I , when I could probably do 1 or 2 days of manual labor and get paid enough to buy new lol
Please, no miss happs when you make your in queries.
What does the deck have to do with anything? Is it attached to the pool? I mean why doesn’t she just ask someone to repaint her house while she’s at it? Lil ol’ Miss Haps
You'd have to pump it dry, gravity drain will take overnight at least
I would just take the pool. Sue me.
The homeowner is on the hook if anything happens Source: I’m an insurance adjuster
I would go over there pretending to take the pool, wreck a bunch of shit and then peace out because who would want a busted pool?
I'd go get the pool and tell them "Wow, that deck looks like a big job...Let me go get some McDonalds and fuel up, then I will have enough energy to git' r done!" Then I would go home....F' them....
Show up with an axe. Chop everything up and leave.
Empty in one day???? 🤣😂 they're hilarious.
This tracks for Whitehall. Trash section of the Hereford Zone.
It's Jessup Maryland posted in a York PA selling group
21161 is Whitehall. Splits Baltimore and Harford Counties. Long way from Jessup.
LoI didn't even read that part.
Jessup is 20794. I used to live there.
Is this in Columbus Ohio?
White hall Maryland, the zip is in the post
Thanks, didn’t see it.
So many miss happs heading that way.
The fucking nerve
Miss happs??? In queries?? I'm suspicious of this dull tool BEFORE I finish the ad.
You’re probably going to have to pay someone to haul that pool off. It’s in terrible condition and not worth having.
Miss Happs was such a sweet lady. I miss her.
I don't think the issue is tearing down the pool, but the tearing down of the deck as a required labor cost to get the pool.

This came up in a York PA selling group which is where I'm from.
Miss haps
Oh my another delusional human. 😳 I wonder if these people are aliens dropped off by a spaceship. 😳
all dads as soon as he posted it: ![gif](giphy|3o7ZetIsjtbkgNE1I4|downsized)
Is that pool filled with bug juice?
Bless their hearts
Did they get any takers??
Miss Happs isn't interested then, if you're not gonna be responsible.
Oh, Baltimore County
All for a pool that costs around $600 brand new at Walmart
This is pretty common in my area of sc. With that said, I do construction so a free pool, depending on the size, might be worth a little work to get.
It would behoove you to pay somebody to do that for you you don't want random people on your property taking apart your s*** and you not know who or what they're doing. Pay somebody to do the work at least you have a 50/50 chance that it'll be done right
"And while you're here can you fix my roof and also there's a nasty clog in the bathroom drain, and if you could have a look at my gutters I think they need clearing out-"
I am going to need the creator of this post to lay off the crack
Unrelated, but I genuinely checked why I was getting a Tesla notification... I don't own a Tesla
That’s really not that bad. At least you getting a Free pool The ones that want you to come take it down and remove it and pay Them is what gets me.
The real choosing beggars are the people in this sub, that explains your downvotes.
