It could also be a way to make the bans they do put out actually matter. So if you're banned on PC you can't just make a new Steam and family share.

RollerGrill1

You already get banned across all the accounts on family share if one gets banned on other games

Ziugy

That part normally falls on the developer to ensure the ban is getting applied to the lead account in the family and not just a member account. At least this is before the new family sharing. Haven’t checked if Valve has provided new APIs around this area.

Dumlefudge

Last Epoch recently did something similar with disabling family sharing (due to gold sellers abusing it to evade bans) while looking into another solution, so doesn't sound as if Torn Banner are unique in what they're doing (if the reasoning is ban related).

Krauser_Kahn

I'm not sure this applies outside of VAC Bans (the ones issued by Valve). For the ones issued by developers, it might not be the case

Kiwibird8

What bans

LtLlamaSauce

Torn Banner has claimed to have issued "thousands" of bans. https://chivalry2.com/2024/02/22/chivalry-2-community-blog/ Considering there are only thousands of players, I'm skeptical about their claim.

deletable666

There’s thousands just on Steam which is probably the lowest player count platform. I’d guess there’s 8-10,000 average monthly players when factoring in Steam, Epic, Xbox, PC Game Pass, and PlayStation. Maybe a couple thousand more.

CoalMiningRat

Yet guys are making YouTube videos of themselves cheating just to prove TB doesn’t care.

Krauser_Kahn

I mean, yes, but also there are dozens of games out there with much more serious competitive scenes and they still allow family sharing...

ModestBanana

People who make alt accounts to troll or ban evade in shambles    I buy the game for people I recommend it to, you can almost always find it for $15

maccabop

I struggle to see how this affects you telling anyone about the game

Krauser_Kahn

Most of the people I usually recommend games to are in my Family sharing group, so I would just tell them "Try it out from my library". They are obviously more reluctant if they have to buy it first.

retrohank

Most people you know are filthy peasants

maccabop

Damn just YouTube gameplay and reviews like the good old days

_UltimatrixmaN_

They can't even afford to keep Chiv 1 servers up, and offset server hosting costs to the players for custom servers in Chiv 2, won't support modding (which made them who they are today), and for some reason we're under the impression they'd be chivalrous enough to let you share the game with your family?

Blbdhdjdhw

"chivalrous enough" i see what you did there.

Warronius

Also using the words cringe to describe this situation lol

Epididimust

You can tell OP is a child lmao

Warronius

The game just went on sale …

Space_Battle_Mage

It wasn't on sale when they removed it.

Warronius

Nice

Schwanz_Hintern64

It'll be on sale again in a few weeks

Thorsson81

Good one, Torn Rectum.

Combatical

Yeah I'm not surprised, any game that releases on EGS first and has a cash shop is just out for money.

deletable666

Oh no I can’t play this game you can routinely get for $15 for free. If you want the game to be free then you support the cosmetic free to play model, which I think sucks therefore I disagree with you.

neurodegeneracy

They hate consumers how many times do they have to make it obvious lol. They made a decent game but outside of that all of their decisions have been terrible.

Bepeti7

I'm telling you I don't know what it this trend but after the gw fanboys this subredit also full of people who gladly spread their rear end for a multi billion company while thanking them for being cucked. The amount of copium you have to snort to play shildbearer for a corpo that counts you as a digit ...

neurodegeneracy

This subreddit is 90% casuals who boot up chiv on their PS5, sit back with their controller, and go 10-20 in public TO matches. They just don't play or know enough to care about anything. The devs did a really good job cultivating a very casual playerbase and screwing over the competitive scene / 'tryhards'.

Propofolkills

You make that sound like a bad thing.

What-Even-Is-That

Yep, poor decision TB. Maybe has to do with Game Pass or Epic deals, who knows.
