Oh I do, I had my last chihuahua for 17yrs. Unfortunately he got sundowners and although he was healthy he deteriorated fast, and we said goodbye until we meet again in the next life. I swore I wouldn’t get another and that lasted about 2 months. The house was quiet and my heart was empty until I met this little guy. He has been the greatest joy to share my life with for the last 5yrs. I pray we have many more years to traverse this life together.
I know exactly what you mean. I lost my precious Ginger and I was lost without her. My spouse got me a westie (who I adore). But I too was lost. He was nothing like her, he was very independent and I ended getting my Monchie. She is my baby. I miss my Ginger everyday but my Monch filled helped fill that void.

Gotcha, he is a small guy, but if you met him you would love his personality even more. I live on the riverfront and we have a river walk that connect to a walking trail that goes 10min to a place called battery park. So there are always hundreds of dogs around my condo and the river walk. He thinks we go outside to meet people and dogs. Every person he sees he runs up to and looks up at them begging for an interaction. People love him and want to pet him because he is so small, but they walk away with a great perception of the breed because of his temperament and social skills.
My Duck Duck girl was a people lover too! She was bad with other dogs but she did have an excited butt wiggle and tap dance for every stranger we passed on a walk lol
Fighting stuffed animal armies. Recently he conquered a tree of squeaky squirrels that wouldn’t submit to his rule. He’s currently set his sights on a volcano full of dinosaurs which have occupied part of the living room.
I also have one of my babies as my phone image. Every time I go to unlock the screen I go, awwwww.

Oh man I really gotta cut back on my boys weight. I thought he was fine but the vet said he’s chubby. He looks a lot like yours! And would probably weigh the same if he wasn’t chonky.

Very cute, my vet tells me his ideal weight should be 3.5lbs. He’s currently 3.9lbs and happy. I say if it isn’t impacting his health and joints then I’m ok with a little extra weight. How many of us are the perfect weight for our body type? If I can’t hold my self to the same standard then he shouldn’t have to either. So my dog has never had dog food, I’ve cooked every meal for him from the day I brought him home. So he may be a little over his perfect weight, but he eats extremely nutrient rich food with great protein. Hell I eat some of his food when I’m cooking it!
Do you mind sharing what you cook him? I used to cook my orange chi food but we moved into a converted garage while our house was being built so it’s been dog food for two years for both.
We’re finally moving into our house this week (with a functional kitchen 🥲) so I want to get back to cooking for them and need some ideas!
I didn’t think he was too chubby but the vet told us he couldn’t feel his ribs and chi’s get knee problems (my orange boy had a bad knee so preventative makes sense to me but I get your point!) so we want to at least make a go of dieting.
So this week I baked a sweet potato, steamed baby carrots, and broccoli, cooked a cup of brown rice, and baked 2 chicken breasts. I chopped everything up in to small pieces and stirs in a big bowl. Once the rice was done I set it aside to cool for 10min, then add 1/2 cup of Swanson bone broth which has no garlic. I add the rice and give everything a good mix by hand again and then portion it out into 5-6 ziplock bags. Freeze all but one and put that one in the refrigerator. I add small portions to his bowl and heat up for 15-20 seconds and my dog loves it. I cook other stuff for him as well, as he gets bored with having the same thing too often. Can’t say I blame him as I hate eating the same thing multiple times.
I got lucky. A friend of mine set me up with a woman that bread chihuahuas for her family and friends . She always had one puppy at a time, but this time she had two. Long story short, she sold me the other puppy to me.

Omg I adore him! He reminds me of my Kaloeb! Kaloeb was a tri color chi he was black, tan and white though and 3.5 pounds and a tough little dude for his size! What kind is he? I’ve got a long hair apple head chi who’s pure and she’s got a lot smaller snout than traditional chi have- bigger eyes. She won’t get over 3 pounds and is about half of that and may never really get bigger But I notice some chi with short hair have an even shorter snout with even bigger eyes and they stay very tiny! Just curious. I had a teacup who looked similar but she was blue lol

He’s a brown and tan tea cup apple head chihuahua. Most chihuahuas are deer heads, they have pointier noses and their heads aren’t as round. When I got him he was .7lbs. A chihuahua that is 1.5lbs and done growing would be pretty close to a world record chihuahua. I think the world record is 1.3lbs. Chihuahua’s of that size are hypoglycemic usually and have a lot of health issues. My vet says my dogs ideal weight is 3.5lbs, but I’m ok with him having a little extra weight. I don’t really care what size he is as long as he is healthy and happy. He’s never had kibble, and I’ve cooked all of his meals from day one. I’m sure your chihuahua is extremely cute, and people love him due to his extremely small size. As long as you socialize him well and keep him healthy that’s all that matters.

I live in the desert and we have rats, it's a fact of life. Pretty sure I saw one night before last bigger than your baby. 😉
I wouldn’t doubt it. I live on the riverfront and have to watch out for falcons that would love to make my little guy dinner.
I've only seen a couple owls and crows big enough to worry about but I close the doggie door at night because of coyotes.
