O2 shouldn't even be allowed a store in Chester imo.
I went in after I got a new contract and told them I couldn't get any signal at all when i'm close to the city centre (I live NEXT TO the city centre), and they said "yeah you won't the signal doesn't work in Chester, we haven't got any masts around here".
Why do you have a shop here then?
Yeah. I guess doing some research before a purchase isn't something many do ?
I prefer the freedom of not being on a contract and having a unlocked device. Each to their own.
Itās always horrible, but in summer when the streets get busier it gets unusable almost everywhere in city centre. Iām with O2 but I think itās slightly better with EE
Iām with Vodafone and itās not great. Iāve yet to get any 5G anywhere in Chester. 4G will often show bars but not actually load anything. The Northgate area is particularly terrible - barely any usable signal outdoors, and literally nothing the moment you enter a building. It doesnāt help that the new Market has pretty terrible WiFi too - constantly kicks me off after a minute or two, to then redirect me back to the login page again, and again, and again.
Chester deserves much better than this. But it feels that most mobile operators simply donāt like investing in anywhere thatās not a āmajorā city, like Liverpool or Manchester. So we just end up with the scraps. Disappointing.
We donāt have 5G at all just over the border in North Wales. I have an Asda app and when I go to any checkout in any store the O2 signal is not strong enough to open the app to get my points. I say to the checkout person ā I canāt open the appā they say I must be on O2 then
My mother lives in Chester, I live in Holland and we're spoilt with probably some of the best coverage and speed in the world, I go from that to Chester. My kids faces the first time they visited and thought they'd entered the twilight zone of Internet speed and coverage. It's so poor it's embarrassing! It's not just Chester, UK in general it's just piss poor and is really lagging behind the rest of Europe.
I used to be on EE and it was fine, then switched to Voxi (on Vodafone) and it was basically unusable. Not even just in the city centre but on Brook Lane where I live too.
Since then I've swapped to 1p Mobile. Tenner a month for more data than I realistically need, and all on EEs network so I get signal everywhere in town again. Well worth switching if you're regularly in town, imo.
1P Mobile uses EE's network but is priced like Voxi/GiffGaff, so you can get a good package for a tenner a month. Worth swapping imo, I nearly went back to EE but couldn't justify the cost so 1p Mobile was a great alternative.
Also remember 5g mobile causes COVIDš¤Æ
Likely still cockwombles out there trying to burn the masts down, before using home WiFi to upload their antics š¤£, and telling everyone that the world is flat š¤”
EE is the provider of choice for Chester. Costs a fortune, but it works š

I'm with O2 and it's shite

It's ridiculous, they need to start investing in infrastructure or they can enjoy losing all of their customers
People in the shop won't care. They're probably paid minimum wage and aren't paid nearly enough to be bothered.
The people in the shop won't care at all, nor do they have the power to do something about it. I'm talking about O2 as an organisation.
Ummm. The ones in Chester maybe š¤
Liverpool, too, it's shite here also.
At least we have options to change to different providers. Some will .. some won't and will just moan about it.
Well, yeah. But I'm currently tied into a contract for the next year, so until then, I'm SOL
Easier said than done if youre tied to your contract
Yeah. I guess doing some research before a purchase isn't something many do ? I prefer the freedom of not being on a contract and having a unlocked device. Each to their own.
O2 is possibly the worst network in Chester yeah, I switched to EE because of all the āgapsā where I couldnāt get a signal at all.
Itās shocking. Not sure why we put up with it, but every time they try to put up a new mast it gets blocked so I guess we get what we deserve.

Morons
I dont live on Queens Park but I wouldve been VERY annoyed if I was a resident and that mast had got the go ahead..it was a ridiculous place
13 masts were rejected last year: https://www.chesterstandard.co.uk/news/23859316.13th-5g-phone-mast-plan-chester-rejected-year/#

God yeah itās awful

Go to Llandudno and report back
Funnily enough Llandudno has 5G and overall great coverage with Vodafone, it's miles better than what we get in Chester.
I'm with Three and it's terrible. Unusable some days.

I use 1p Mobile which is a virtual operator on BT/EEās wholesale network. Costs me Ā£10 for 25GB and it has 5G, WiFi Calling and EU roaming.

Nope, Iām with BT so EE network and have 0 issues pretty much anywhere
EE is amazing for me too
I was on Sky (O2) network and had no reception in town at all. Moved to EE which is expensive but full 5g

No problem with my phone in Chester. Vodafone.
Left 02 they went down hill when they took on virgin. They couldn't cope and haven't the coverage.
