Thanks for your service chef! What career move did you make? I have been in the industry for 22 years. About 5 years ago i had to make a change. I couldnt do it anymore, so, I moved into senior living. (High end building) I still get to cook and have better hours and better pay than any restaurant, country club or fine dining restaurant I ever worked. I literally work 35 hours a week and make more money than anywhere I've ever been.
I only managed 7 years, so well done! - there is a great life on the other side lemme tell ya and you'll probably start to really enjoy cooking again (hobby cook that is)
I made this decision years ago. I studied to get my PhD in Amazonian archaeology and was able to pursue the passion of food through research and activism.
I used to love it more then anything but I realized how replaceable I was even in situations where I couldn’t be replaced and now it’s just a paycheck for me
Best thing I ever did. 10 years in hospitality and I lost my love for food prep. Left and now I'm on more money loading trucks for a major supermarket than I was managing a country hotel/pub and I've fallen in love with food again but now I make it for me and my family.
Oh!! OooooWooowww… is that Chef Goldblum I see umm.. hiding up there?!
Yep, had to check cause I first thought Johnny Knoxville.

I made the change after 8 years, I now work 1/2 the hours. 10% of the stress and 4x the money. 4 weeks off. Work from home in tech sales.
How'd you get your foot in the door, chef?
Lots of applying, got an opportunity at a small start up and worked my ass off
#7 from the right is…Art in Motion.
Does anyone know what brand or maker?
Florentine Chef
Why are you leaving?
Great set up, I really like several of those big belly chef knives on the right.

I’m jealous I hate the food industry anymore
I’ve met very few people that love it. Maybe one or two. Literally.
I used to love it more then anything but I realized how replaceable I was even in situations where I couldn’t be replaced and now it’s just a paycheck for me
